Game pass and Covid-19 have combined to get me back into PC gaming

I've been a gamer for a long time, mainly on console, but I have had a few gaming PC's over the years (I started on PC). I usually buy all the game consoles (the only Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sega consoles I have not owned are PS1, Original Xbox, Sega Saturn, and game gear). I stopped PC gaming because I found it too expensive, as I was always trying to keep up.

I got a launch Xbox Series X, but with Covid and everyone home I found I could never get the TV time to play. Now that I'm working from home, the wife let me know she's sick of me always being around so I decided to turn the spare bedroom into a gaming room. Since my gamepads ultimate subscription includes PC, I figured I could spend my money on hardware instead of a whole new game library for a different system (the PS5 hasn't really given me a reason to want one yet anyways...).

I ended up purchasing an I7,j RTX3080 with 32gb ram, along with a 240hz 1ms monitor. I must say, I'm pretty excited to be back on team PC. I gotta hand it to Microsoft, incorporating a single service / eco system between Xbox and PC was a great Idea. Not making their games exclusive to Xbox only will be much better for me, and help drive this purchase. Now I can play on the PC, or on the couch in front of the TV without any hassles. Personally, I think Microsoft is nailing it these days.

Not sure why so many people care if games are exclusive. Personally I think it is better if all games were on all the systems so you can play will any friends you have, and jump ecosystems easily.

Its all about what games you play. I used to play on gaming pc(4-5 years ago), lot of csgo, pubg and some other strategic games but i got bored with it.I dont play games like dota, LOL etc. Now when is look at steam top played games there's maybe 1-2 games that i would play.
Also i got bored with playing fps shooters on pc beacuse of cheaters. I went for ps4(now ps5) few years ago and i couldnt be happier

I don't play a lot of online gaming. The 8 year olds kicking my ass was bad enough, can only imagine dealing with the cheaters..... I'm sure I'll get a PS5 at some point, probably whenever the next Uncharged comes out. I loved the PS2 & PS3, but wasn't a fan of the PS4 because of the extreme fan noise. I found myself turning games off because of that. I bought Xbox series X because I invested in a killer wheel set up for Xbox, and wanted to bring it forward.

I also used my points to get a TV for the room. Not a great one, Samsung Q60 55", but can do 4K HDR, 60hz, so any games better on controller I will probably just use the TV.

I jumped over to team PC after not being wowed by the next gen console and starting a new job that would give me even less time to play games. End up doing more on my PC then just play games anyways so its more useful. Also helps I flipped the consoles for nearly double what I paid.

Gamepass is great and all but once my sub runs out Ill prob pass on it. I seldom play stuff outside my comfort zone. With steam and epic sales all the time really hard to justify the gamepass route for myself. Also the app sucks on PC.

No 30 series card here, but a 2070 super does more then well enough for games I play.

am I the only one that had problems with gamepass on pc, made it work by myself (MS was useless helping) to later realize that the library on the pc is lower than on the Xbox ?

My reaction was, all this praise for this?

Sorry you have had problems. Every game i have tried works perfect.
i had problem with sound in most 3rd party games. ms 1st party worked fine other than gears 4 with some visuals glitches almost as if my gpu was broken. yeah i believe you had no problems after extensive research i found out for some reason some people had no issues at all while others like me were fucked.

If you are being serious, and do actually sub to PC Gamepass. All i can suggest is to make sure yuor windows is up to date. I always check for updates eevry 2 or 3 days, and download and install whenever there are updates.
I have seen other people mention about problems with PC Gamepass, but updating windows has sometimes helped.
Its worth a try.

Sounds like someone who just sank a ton of money into being able to play the same games across 3 different platforms and is trying to convince themselves they did a good thing.

come on updating windows is literally the first everyone did. at least right now im able to play those games and im sure is much better now, you should have seen it when it launched. fh4 had an online error called treno or something like that. wouldnt let you connect online, and when i finaly figure out the problem i would race against 2 or 4 people, and i figure its because most of the people didnt have the skills to solve that. i researched tons of videos online. everyone seemed to have a different solution for the problem and i would read the comments and you could see some people claiming it works for them and it didn't for some.

It's common that people have different experiences due to their PC setup not being the same.

You could have just plugged the XSX on the 240hz monitor, but good that you also bought a great pc. Incredible toy machine.

Not only what games, but also about how you play them.
Also I play R6S, BF4, CoDs, Titanfall, and never saw any cheater (that was obvious and affected my enjoyment).

I was only trying to help bud, and good that you already tried it.
I dont know what to say then, can only go on my own situation. I must of played at least 80 games over the last year, maybe even more, and all of them worked.
The only problem i ever had was when EA PLay launched on PC Gamepass, and i couldnt download the games from gamepass itself, but could from the EA App.

I don't feel guilty paying games instead of going outside, because it is still a gimped experience going anywhere due to covid. Can't even enjoy going to restaurants, the movies, the gym, etc. as it's all a watered down experience that sucks.

You sound like my wife.

When she asks how I have time to play all the platforms and games I've purchased.

Thats the problem. You dont see most of the cheaters, they are subtle doing only slight aimbot or wallhacks. Very rarely you see someone doing spinhack running around. Everytime you die you question if that player was a cheater. On console everything feels so natural, no weird things

So you are complaining about something you don't even know if are there

And on consoles there are people playing with mouse+kb+ pathetic AIM assist and you dont know.

I used to have PC and consoles, now I leaning towards be a PC only guy and this is why.

Although I love consoles and PlayStation exclusives, I will stay on PC from now on, I don't want to lose access to my old games like happened with my PSP/PS3/PSVITA libraries. I know I can lose one day my Steam Library but so far Valve inspire me much more trust than Sony or Microsoft.

Maybe down the road I get a PS5 cheaper with used games that I want to play, then resell it. If Sony threats their own legacy as disposable, I will too. Honestly, it breaks my heart. As a person who owned and enjoys every console and handheld Sony produced. As a costumer at this point, they lost me, hope the future brings better things.
