Just finished Final Fantasy VII Remake

Additional DLC? Has this been confirmed? I read somewhere that they weren't actually planning any DLC at all and that Yuffie chapter was always envisioned for the PS5 version, but that they weren't going to mkar anymore.

Just the Yuffie stuff is what I was referring to. Yeah, it seems like they aren't wanting to do all that much DLC, which is a good thing. I already own the PS4 edition (1st class edition purchase, I know, lame, lol, but I was hyped) but I am thinking of buying intergrade directly from SE. Gotta support the dev so that they keep this dream alive for as long as possible.

Yeah I liked it. I went fr not wanting to play this game until all the chapters were out, to preordering PS5 deluxe versión.

The back and forth discussion over what this game really is...shows how unique the approach was. Square essentially turned a classic game into something that is almost equally disruptive to the modern gaming scene with this "remake", instead of just being a really good game. They took a unique "remake" approach to a classic that was unique for its time.

This game sucked balls, and I don't care if my opinion offends anyone. The original was a decent (if over-hyped and over-rated) game, but this one was awful. It's late, and I have no desire to get into specifics. But just know this game is absolute garbage. I got it for free, and I still feel like I overpaid.

Why would anyone be offended? Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one, be it popular or not.
Personaly, I thought the game was a masterpiece and I can't wait for the next installments.

Yes, because open world = good, irrespective of the narrative adjustments and bloat that addition would bring. An open world makes zero sense for this section of FF7’s story.
During my playthrough, I was wondering how this game would feel as an open world design. Then I thought that the plot lines in this game are to tightly interconnected with each other, which for the most part creates the excellent pacing imho, that an open world approach would completely destroy that. You can't tell a story the way you do in a linear fashion in an open world, where the player is free to ignore main plot points for long periods of time. Not saying it's better or worse, but it's certaintly very different from what the dev probably wanted to achieve with this.
Also, I think FF7R as an open world game would've taken at least 2 years more development time. Would be a huge undertaking.

the next installment will be opn world like. That is probably also a reason why they only release it on next gen. the SSD alone will bing a huge advantage here. Open world would not have fit in this ppart of the game because it was only set in one large city with a more tight plot. Later on FFVII also opnend up when the player was familar with the world and the mechanics. This is what will happen here as well.

After replaying the game, I still hate the story “additions” and the fact that it’s a sequel. It was supposed to be a remake. It didn’t have to be 1:1, but it is absolutely what people asked for, and what we expected. I accept that not everyone wanted that, and that’s fine! But I would assume the majority of FFVII fans wanted a remake, not a sequel with fate spirits and all that. If you try and debate me in this, the conversation will go nowhere, so let’s agree to disagree here and now.

That being said, I still really like the game for a lot of other reasons. And the story is left mostly intact, so that’s fine. There is a tiny sliver of a fraction in me that like the idea that we don’t know what’s going to happen. So there’s that...

Here’s to hoping they hit next installments out of the park. FFXV, although majorly flawed, really felt adventurous, which is something I feel Square has been lacking in their games post FFX. And FFVIIR was a really solid game, so I’m hanging on to the hope that maybe Square has finally figured it out. We’ll see!

Having never played the original since I beat the game when I was a wee little boy, I have no idea what the fuck is happening 10 hours in.

Maybe it's because I don't have a refresher on the story flow from the original, and went into this going "here goes nothing" mentality, but I honestly don't recall a lot of the things that happened in the original in full HD memory replay.

All I know is that nothing is really the same compared to the original.

Is it bad? Hard to say when you don't remember the original too well.

But I legit have yet to see how these "additions" make up for a better story by the end.

Gameplay is lit, I'll give it that though

Also with them making a sequel they created a expierence people felt for the first time when suddendly someone dies and changes the complete game. Now no one really knows what will happen, who will die, people are already really invested in all of this. At least for the most part. Which is great.

The whole marketing was brilliant. Beiung it the first artwork with the advent Children Sephiroth or even calling it remake. People were wondering why it was not called part 2 which was also criticze by a lot of people. But in the end it all MADE sense.
