Marvel's Avengers - PS5 vs Xbox Series S|X - Graphics Comparison & FPS Test

That is kind of meaningless if the game was just recompiled to be specifically for next gen systems but none of the settings were altered.
Meaningless difference if they don't actually enable native hardware features.
The xbox version is using directstorage according to DF so clearly they are using some level of native hardware features, I would assume that's true on both systems.

Not really meaningless. BC runs in GCN mode, iirc. Native runs in RDNA2 mode.

You both just listed buzzwords to counter the fact that both next-gen ports are running the same settings as last gen systems.

Think about that.

Massive advantage for the XSX. No idea wtf they were thinking with that trash resolution on the PS5.

You do you but clearly it's not the same as the same as the PS4 Pro

Particle effects and alpha transparencies also operate at a significantly higher resolution up against Pro at its best, which adds a great deal to the look of the game bearing in mind how omni-present these elements are. On top of that, water rendering also gets a significant boost - the flat plane effect on last-gen water is replaced with a proper geometric surface with undulation and deformation on PS5.

Doesn't mean they didn't use the last gen versions and improved on them, or do you think they took the PC versions and went from there?

Resolution being unchanged doesn't mean others settings can't be different.
The fact is PS5 and Series X are using PS4 Pro and Xbox One X resolution settings.

PS4 Pro: 2160p CBR with DRS
Xbox One X: 2160p with DRS

Being native or not means anything if you are still using what you did/code on previous generation.

PS. The DRS nature of last gen resolutions in this game already allow the native ports to use a less aggressive drop without any change... so why change that? I understand the use of CBR could have been removed in the native port but devs choose to let how it was in last gen.

Uh the fuck going on here. It's from awhile this game was announced CBR at 60 fps on ps5. Still I haven't seen a single FPS analysis and it's already a catastrophe. This game already ran worst on Xbox console for such opinable decision (see the old one X Vs pro comparison). At least wait to see how runs in this mode on both console? Just saying...

"- In FPS mode, for the first few minutes of the game, the PS5 resolution varies between 3840x2160 and 2560x1440p, but as soon as we get to the Quinjet and start missions with more open and loaded spaces, the usual resolution becomes dynamic 1920x2160p, while on X Series it stays at dynamic 3840x1836p. In this case, there is a clear advantage in the Xbox version."

That is at odds with what DF has said.

" Just like PS4 Pro, it's running at 2160p checkerboard with a dynamic resolution window that extends as far as it needs to in order to sustain the crucial 60fps target. Essentially, the more mayhem you unleash, the lower typical resolution is likely to be - expect values in the 1800p range in the heat of the action, dropping to 1440p when all hell truly breaks loose."

Alex Battaglia stresses in the video that 1440p is very rare.

You guys aren't making sense and are reaching. Every other time PS5 had an advantage the Devs used the based game and improved settings. This time it's no different.

The game is a native port on both with improved settings. Let's wait till DF or VG tech confirms FPS. But clearly, XSX has won the resolution.

do you think that's down to the Xbox itself or the game devolopers
I don't think it's a parity contract, it's the dev environments which at this point saying it is beating a dead horse.

Sony evolved their dev tools making it easier and very similar to the PS4 environment
MS revamped dev tools moving away from XDK to GDK to merge the dev environment with the PC, there had to be growing pains on the Xbox side, plus the dev tools weren't as mature as Sony's.

I still don't think many games in the near future will have as much as a difference because GDK is still a WIP (same with Sony's) but more-so we don't have next-gen only games coming out anytime soon that will exclusively focus on the next-gen box's only.

I don’t get these comparisons what about PC rigs with custom cards that’s going to get the best out of games? Consoles will always be second best.

XSS hits 1440p (even at 30fps) - but but but they said this wasn't possible, 1440p false advertising!!! It cripples next gen! Ps5 not hitting 4k too, but it says it on the ads 4k, 60fps!! Call the resolution police! Call the next gen police!!

This has just become laughable...

I mean, you guys (Xboxers, Pstars) do recall the majority of players calling this game a turd right, pretty but limited, huge grind, unlikable protagonist etc

now because it got a spit shine you're arguing over who has the best version, be it framerate or resolution

You're literally fighting over who gets the shiniest turd lol

but hey then you wouldn't get that silly gif would you

"another one" lol

Same thing happened with the bigger turd, Dirt 5 with Sony fanboys so maybe quit entering these threads if the sodium is gonna give you a headache.

There’s nothing BC about this. It’s native to Series and PS5 with higher resolution textures across the board.

DF did a much better job explaining the PS5 version. It’s NOT just the same settings as Pro and One X. That’s an excuse many Sony fans try to use but it’s usually not accurate (sometimes it is, in fairness, but not this time).

Based on ElAnalistaDeBits’ other findings it looks like Series wins this one but I’d wait for a better analysis (preferably VG Tech, for me)

Whatever he is he's not a pro and he presents his findings in a very confusing and annoying way.
Just stick to Vgtech, Digital Foundry and NXgamer. The rest are just wannabes and might lead to misleading comparisons.

ElAnalistaDeBits isn’t threadworthy. IMO

Like I said I don't think he is wrong... it just he is confusing what Checkboard is.

Using the legacy PS4 Pro setup PS5 can reach at max 2160p CBR... that means 1920x2160p as base resolution at max.
It doesn't affect Series X because it uses the legacy Xbox One X that can reach at max native 2160p.

If the dev doesn't take time to change how the resolution is handled on the code made for the legacy system it won't magically change in the native next-gen port.

Devs definitely made some improvements but little disappointing if there is performance issue while still keeping the same resolution to the Pro and X. May be the game needs more upgrade/patches.
