I own both. The Series X gets most of my attention because online is easier and more robust, plus library.

I like my PS5, but when Astro’s Playground is more fun and imaginative than any of the launch titles available...and the XSX has Gamepass...it’s an obvious choice.

Also, Astro was very well done. I enjoyed that Platinum and walking my kids through PSX history.

I honestly kinda regret both purchases. Barely touch either. The X is a Destiny box to play with some work friends and the 5 besides Demon Souls is used to play Days Gone and 13 Sentinels, have a healthy backlog on the 5 like ghost of tsushima, god of war and nioh 2 but instead been rockin Valheim, Anno 1800, Genshin Impact and Farcry 5 on PC when i feel like playing something more often than not. As for Xbox backlog i just sub to gamepass on pc for a month to play something like Wasteland 3, then resub a few months later for whatever strikes my fancy. Will catch a month for Halo that's for certain.

things that annoy me about PS5
-PSNow games being in my library when im trying to find games i own
-the controller hurts my hands after awhile.
-orange light when its resting lights up the room
-it gets loud like jet engine at random times when a disc is inside
-coil whine
-quitting a game or going into rest mode takes extra steps for no reason.
-hdmi cable it comes with is shortest HDMI cable in history. i have to move the ps5 or remove the cable a lot
-the console itself is the largest, heaviest console i've ever owned.
-the dualsense still has a bunch of lights. And automatically has a microphone on. Which i didn't realize ppl could just like hear me breathing when i was playing Uncharted online.

things that annoy me about my XBSX
-the UI
-recording gameplay for a certain amount of time is now hidden behind an extra screen or two
-the light on the controller is still too bright even when u dim it.
-seems like it runs hot. There is just a steady stream of warm air coming out of it all the time. Even when im not using it.
-when u hold the xbox button down on the controller to turn it off. The vibration is so low. That ur not sure u did it right
Is the controller mic on by default?

Initially it was ps5. The ps5 had the superior launch titles and that’s hardly subjective. But once I played those games to death I found myself going back to the SX a bit more for BC enhancements which frankly is where Sony dropped the ball on.

the only complaint I have over Xbox is that basically everything it can do, my pc can do better. Except gamepass. Gamepass on Xbox easily shits on their pc offerings.

I've been juggling them both a fairly equal amount, but the PS5 might be edging it out a bit soon since I've been going back and finishing up some PS4 games I had to put down because I got so sick of hearing the fan on my Pro.

Although if I had to pick one console I prefer over the other at this specific moment, I'd have to go with the Series X due to Game Pass, Quick Resume, and things like FPS Boost/Auto HDR. Will I feel that way by the time this gen is over? Really tough to say

I played and completed TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima with PS5 while now I am playing days gone.
I play much more with Series X since I have gamepass, the elite 2 pad - which is much better than dualsense 5 - and since yesterday also the Xbox official wireless headset.
Xbox ecosistem is simply great.
You really need to try some native PS5 games like Demon’s Souls and especially Astrobot to judge the DualSense though (odd that DS is now the bigger controller compared to the default XSX one and how good the latter’s DPad has become, so flexible) which I prefer as the haptics and trigger feedback are just out of this world... glad you are liking the Xbox setup though :).

Audio wise, I prefer playing with my 5.1 setup (yeah not cutting edge in terms of number of speakers anymore :D), but the only treason I got the PlayStation Pulse 3D headset is for the Tempest 3D audio optimised native PS5 games (Tempest only works on headphones at the moment).

I tried Astrobot and Control, games which are supporting haptic and trigger feedback.
Astrobot is great to try the new features but I think that I like the haptic way more than trigger feedback.
In Control, for example, it is nice to feel the gun via the trigger, but after 10 minutes I disable it since it is 'annoying' (I do not know how to explain).
On the other side, I always preferred Xbox controller because of its ergonomy and especially because of the asymmetric analogs.
And plus, if you have an Elite 2 controller, it is hard to use all others pads. But I know it does not cost as much as the others.

On the suggestion that the XSX controller is unenvironmental because it uses batteries, I would
point out that you can reuse the controller from your old Xbox One on it.

For my PS5 I had to purchase a second controller at £59.99 and the three old PS4 dualshock controllers in my household became redundant, more old tech. So I'd say it's swings and roundabouts.

Nice 👍. Cannot disagree much there. The only thing I will say is that for me trigger feedback is still not getting old and in Astrobot the “frog/spring” suit and the space ship ones sell the triggers + motion control (how they work together) super well.

Improvements in the built-in speaker, good D-Pad and buttons (D-Pad is great but not quite PS Vita good still and the XSX D-Pad improved a lot, it is the face buttons that are sometimes odder than they used to, better press them well/fully as feathering them so to speak may lead to missed inputs sometimes), dynamic resistance/force feedback triggers, and haptics make it the best PS controller yet... only thing is that IMHO it is getting to be a bit big... it used to be that the PS controller was the small one and the Xbox one the bigger one for larger hands... now XSX went for a smaller than Xbox One controller (slightly) and DS is bigger than the old DualShock4 controller... by quite a bit (bigger than the XSX pad too)... 🤷‍♂️.

Go Go Neo Rangers!
Game Pass is the only thing right now keeping me from playing Max Payne or Mega Man X again for the 1000th time so I have to say Xbox at the moment. That being said, I don't think most games I have played that have series X versions have stuck with me.

Didn't like the Medium or Creed Valhalla much. But Wreck fest series X patch just dropped and I do appreciate the RAM limit being upped in Planet Coaster.

Ps5 native games I have played starts and ends with AstroBot which is cool but hardly a system seller. I refuse to pay $50 for Spiderman MM. Once that hits $30 I'll be in.

Ratchet and Clank is the Game I am waiting for on PS5.

So I pick Switch.

Well it's either that or some of these people are out there overcoming the odds (or buying from scalpers) to buy something they won't like just so they can console war on GAF. Because they certainly aren't doing it to discuss any games on the "other" platform.

True gamers™ they like to call themselves.

I've had an Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo product every generation that they have been released, even dating back to the 80s and 90s for the Nintendo stuff.

Last gen I bought an Xbox One almost at release. Played the Dead Rising game and Sunset Overdrive. Then the console sat unused for years at a time. Between the PS4 and a high-end PC there was no reason for me to turn on my Xbox (I'm not interested in Halo).

I almost didn't buy an Xbox Series X this gen but I'm glad I did. I love my PS5, but Gamepass means I'm using the Xbox much more often than the PS5. That will probably change as most of the games I'm interested in this generation are either PS5 exclusives or I'll buy them on PC. Still, Gamepass is a winner and has kept me occupied while waiting for new releases.

Nice try?

It's all bad. Batteries or controllers.

Hang on a minute.... did I come across as a Sony Fanboy? Lol that's hilarious!
I didnt mention the word "fanboy" anywhere. what is it with this place and as soon as there is a discussion everything has to come back to supposed fanboyism.

I said nice try as your original comment focused solely the shortcomings of one solution yet no mention of how its not exactly done well from the other side of things in which im not the only person to point that out to you.

I dont really care what you game on honestly. I just believe that the simple solution one of these company's have is better than the other and think its best to point out both sides.

Worrying about the environmental impact of the batteries seems kind of silly when you're talking about consoles that consume 200-300 watts when in use.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. Xbox and PlayStation controllers are fundamentally the same. I move back and forth between the two without even thinking about it.

After Demon's the PS5 had been unplugged waiting for the next interesting exclusive. XSX has been played more overall. Slight edge to Xbox but I've been on PC mostly this year.

You have to stop with polls like this, or at least throw away the results. Opening the ‘PlayStation 5’ vote list reads like a whos’s who of infamous GAF Sony fanboys (and despite that, it’s still getting trounced). 😂

In the spirit of fairness, I am sure there are dodgy votes in the XSX option too!

It’s funny that people can’t respect the OP and actually leave it for people that have both.

There are plenty of names I see in there that only own one.

Surprising to see some of the really ardent PS5 fans that really seem to hate Xbox actually bought one especially people like Snake29 Snake29 or Bryank75 Bryank75 . How are you guys liking the Xbox and Game Pass experience?

I've pretty much stayed out of this thread since I don't have both yet. But obviously warring is serious business and people like Bryank75 Bryank75 Snake29 Snake29 thismeinteil thismeinteil and plenty more are trying to even out the polls yet somehow Xbox list is bigger lol.

These polls are always filled with disingenuous fanboys, hence why they're a waste of time.

Im addicted to Souls games and i've already ran through demon souls like 4 or 5 times lol so I love my PS5 for that, other than that I been playing all my multiplats on Series X or my PC. I really don't like the PS5 UI and I've got a plat on all the Sony exclusives for the PS4 era(All of them except for Detroit Human or w/e) so aside from Demon souls im not really playing it...Got Returnal preordered though
I use my Series X for multiplats, multiplayer, and my wife uses the hell out of it to watch her TV Shows so its definitely getting way more burn at the moment. I also went ahead and started Yakuza Like A Dragon finally this week so i'll be playing that until Returnal drops since i've caught up my backlog of singleplayer games.

Both amazing systems, both amazing controllers, both great updates/upgrades in my opinion.

Only complaint I'd prolly share is I dunno if I did it wrong or what but...I fucking erased my Ghost of Tsushima PS4 save when installing it somehow and I lost a save file where I'd got a plat and unlocked everything...completely 100% the game and now if I wanna play it I have to start all the way over smfh...We've got 2 of each system, one in the living room for both of us to use, and one in my man cave..I did have to also send the PS5 in the man cave back because it failed but they got me a replacement back in 2 weeks. Got all of our consoles on launch day

Also Jadsey Jadsey . It would be lot of chore to go through the post history of all these people, but heres what I found from 8 pages of just one guy.
I'm still boycotting Xbox for it's lack of decent exclusives.
Best Console : PS4

Worst Console : Xbox One
Been saying for a while that XSX will ultimately sell less than the WiiU.

Seems like that is coming true.
Wow...Xbox owners so starved of content they are having to go back to old Playstation classics.

It's sad really.
Haha haha!

As fully expected all Bethesda games will be released on PS5.

LITERALLY nothing has changed!

What a week. I’ll be playing Demon’s Souls, the first of many PS5 exclusive masterpieces, on Thursday.

And now Bethesda games are GUARANTEED on PS5.

Beautiful.
Why would I need to skip?...I have a PS5 so there is much to look forward to.
What a sad list of games...embarrassing.
1. PS5 - because I like good games
2. Switch - because I like good games

That’s it.
Six epic games?
Jesus.

Imagine owning a console that you can only play one GotY contender on...

Things don’t get any better over at Xbox.

Shocking.
This is what happens when your console has a stupid name.
Luckily on PS5 the games will hold your interest and attention, so this 'feature' is completely necessary.
I don’t know what all the fuss is about.

I wouldn’t buy any Bethesda games even if they were on PlayStation.
Those games make me so happy I ordered a PS5

I can't vote so add another for Xbox

I do play my PS5 quite a bit and really love it - mostly just one single player game at a time - although I do have Steep, Wipeout, Everybody's Golf and No Man's Sky which will always stay on my hard drive as games you don't really finish with alot of replayability

I do all my multiplayer on Xbox because it's my preferred platform so it's wired for internet and because of the Elite 2 controller which means I'm always juggling a number of games there

As far as 3rd party single player games are concerned - If its a FPS or TPS I play on Xbox and most others will likely be on PS5

I'm happy with both so far, but I lean towards the PS5 at this point as it was closer to feeling like a "new console launch" whereas the XSX felt like the release of the next Xbox revision. I'm sure it will ebb and flow as I play more games on Series X.
