XSX
The biggest factor I think is they seem to be supporting my digital library more here. It feels like I'll still be able to play my digital OG Xbox and 360 games on whatever the next Xbox console is and many of them could get further enhanced going forward. So I ended up with Xbox as my main platform for buying digital games and multiplatform games and it ended up as my largest library. Game Pass, GP Quests and Rewards Points keep me coming back daily.

Couple things that really bug me about PS5 currently:
- Library is filled with junk/partial games that I can't filter or get rid of.
- putting console in sleep mode for auto-download leaves the red lights on which is no good for a bedroom.

Both are great though, just because I use one more than the other doesn't mean the other isn't good. Funny thing is, with both consoles I'm mostly playing older games anyway. I find it works out nice to wait until all the patches have been delivered and the games have settles before jumping in. Theres always a few games like Gran Turismo 7 or anything Final Fantasy that I'll play day one on PS5 when they come.
things that annoy me about PS5
-PSNow games being in my library when im trying to find games i own
-the controller hurts my hands after awhile.
-orange light when its resting lights up the room
-it gets loud like jet engine at random times when a disc is inside
-coil whine
-quitting a game or going into rest mode takes extra steps for no reason.
-hdmi cable it comes with is shortest HDMI cable in history. i have to move the ps5 or remove the cable a lot
-the console itself is the largest, heaviest console i've ever owned.
-the dualsense still has a bunch of lights. And automatically has a microphone on. Which i didn't realize ppl could just like hear me breathing when i was playing Uncharted online.

things that annoy me about my XBSX
-the UI
-recording gameplay for a certain amount of time is now hidden behind an extra screen or two
-the light on the controller is still too bright even when u dim it.
-seems like it runs hot. There is just a steady stream of warm air coming out of it all the time. Even when im not using it.
-when u hold the xbox button down on the controller to turn it off. The vibration is so low. That ur not sure u did it right

What time is it?
PS5 has gotten more usage for me. DeSo, Astro, Miles, Hitman 3 (I owned the previous two on PS4) and I'm currently playing through Like A Dragon. It also has my massive PS4 back catalog. My Series X is mostly a Gamepass browser and that catalog mostly contains games I've already played or have passing interest in. BC is great though.

Bojanglez

The Amiga Brotherhood
I use my PS5 as my main machine, I have played through and completed more games on that. Mostly use my XSX to dip into some indie or driving games on Gamepass. Ultimately I'll go where the games are I want to play, and I'm lucky I can afford them both.

I think it's pretty safe to say PS5 has the better year lined up so far

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Returnal
Horizon Forbidden West
SIFU
Guilty Gear Strive

Ratchet and Horizon are the main ones that I’m interested in, and against Halo alone I’d say PS5 has the better exclusive line up (I never loved Halo even playing the original day one) but we know what pretty much every studio for either side is working on, so the surprises are going to mostly be nothing but release windows for the foreseeable future. It’s basically a race to get the most major games out the door at this point.

Haven't played my PS5 in months. I use my XSX daily for watching youtube/Netflix and playing some amazing games on game pass.

XSX is the default media box for anything SDR to me due to PS5 forcing HDR

But in reality I'll just use built in TV apps

My preference for consoles (at least to this point in the current gen) is PS5, XBSX and Switch. That does not mean I do not like the XBSX or the Switch. As matter of fact, both the PS5 and XBSX are collecting dust right now while I play Bravely Default 2 on Switch.

I mean I do want to clarify - RIGHT NOW I have played the Xbox more. But I also didn’t have an Xbox one so basically it’s just all those games and gamepass has been great for how I personally play videogames. However I fully expect to be playing a lot of ps5 whenever they start releasing games I like (played spider man and demons souls, kinda in and out of FF7remake) which probably will start when ratchet and clank releases? Or resident evil 8? I haven’t decided which console to play that on is there something exclusive to Ps5 with re8?

EDIT: also does anyone have an issue on ps5 where it just randomly starts recording videos of games your playing? Am I hitting a button accidentally?

I prefer playing games on my ps5, but I like using the series X for the (for now, long) downtime between exclusives.

On top of that, I never owned an Xbox, so I have some catching up to do, so yeah. Just finished Halo 3. Gamepass is great.

But I still prefer the PS5.

Darkness no more
This year on PS5 I've played Ryza 2, Ys9 and Persona Strikers. That's a good lineup so far since I love Japanese games.
XB I've been playing mostly random stuff on Gamepass and having fun.

I've probably been using them around the same. I will give a slight edge to XB since I like the hardware and UI a bit better. And it have it's expansion slot already active.

Not even close for me. I tucked the PS5 out of sight because it’s so hideous to look at, and in the last two months I turned it on twice (to add the new PS+ games). I barely even remember I have it.

Use Series X every day. Currently obsessed with Forza Horizon 4 and Immortals. PS5 will get some attention when one of Miles Morales, Sackboy or Ratchet gets a 50% price cut I imagine.

I responded to you because I have a PS5 and I am seriously annoyed by the regressions Sony allowed to happen in their OS, the PS4 had what I consider the best console OS since the 360 blade interface (maybe it's nostalgia, but I liked it).

So it feels like we are back in 2013, no folders nothing, everything is a couple more steps away, next update will take out the ability to change your name on PSN.
coil whine
Thankfully I don't have that.
PSNow games being in my library when im trying to find games i own
We need more filters 🥺, thankfully this is not something we need on a daily basis, but how hard is it to fix?
quitting a game or going into rest mode takes extra steps for no reason.
This, the PS5's OS is worst than the PS4's at pretty much everything, except those jump cards, but that would have been better if they had just tacked them on and called it a day (with the PS5 API in the background).
the console itself is the largest, heaviest console i've ever owned.
It's very large, but it seemed pretty light to me (compared to my expectations, I figured you would have needed a lift to carry it around).
the dualsense still has a bunch of lights. And automatically has a microphone on. Which i didn't realize ppl could just like hear me breathing when i was playing Uncharted online.
Heheh I don't play online, but I don't like the microphone.

Sorry, my mistake. I replied before seeing your later post. Took you for a regular person for a min there.

You can argue all sorts of ridiculous points using valid arguments if you're adept enough. What you can't do however, is attempt to argue that the PS4 controller is anything beyond piss poor when it comes to battery life.

No matter how much any of us prefer one console over another... Even the most diehard fanboys usually agree on a few points regarding Xbox and Playstation in general. You're not going to hear Xbox fans claiming their console has a superior selection of Jrpg's vs Playstation, nor will you see them boasting about how much better their 1st party games look superior to Sony's. Likewise, you'd be hard pressed to find Sony fanboys bragging about how much better their online fps offerings are compared to Xbox, and you won't find any that will boast about how much better the DS4's battery life is compared to Xbox.

For the most part, these things are agreed by all combatants in any console warring beforehand. While the warring may be vicious, these truths are self evident, and are to be honored by all gamers alike... both foreign and domestic.

And here you are claiming that the DS4 used lithium ion batteries "that don't die so quickly or at all." 🤣
I've had no problems with my DS4s. The current one I use is 2.5 years old and still not a hassle for me. It gives me no less than 6 straight hours of gameplay, and then it recharges on rest mode while I'm not playing. There are some days I don't even turn the PS4 on, imagine that. You and a bunch of people here think everyone plays nonstop everyday as if they have nothing else to do in life. 6 hours is enough battery life for any gaming session for a normal gamer with a life.

I jump back and forth, dependant on the Length of game and difficulty. I started up Nioh 2 put in a good 50 hours close to finishing the first round of the game, paused it and moved over to Destiny 2 to grind some power. Really no preference only what game I will enjoy and where it gets released.

I'm "1 game til ending, then move onto next one" type of gamer.

Past few months, I've been playing Nier Automata (120+ hours) and Dragon Quest XI DE (150+ hours) on Gamepass... and I felt really bad about PS5 gathering dust.
I am now playing Persona 5 Royal on PS5. Currently at 230 hours, and I am feeling really bad about XSX gathering dust and my GamePass subscription, albeit it's only $4-5 bucks a month till November 2022.

It would be nice to get the feeling of 100+ hours of epic adventure, condensed into 20 hour period. Sigh.

I only have a PS5 but I have several friends who own both and they all use their Series X at least 90% of the time. They're big into Cod/Warzone so it makes sense, as Xbox's BC implementation is far better right now (still no 120 fps option on PS5 for Warzone :messenger_expressionless:). Microsoft's "most powerful console" talk also did a lot to influence which system they buy their games for.

Xbox easily. The backwards compatibility is excellent and game pass is meaning I try a lot more games and more of a variety of different things.

Playing halo 3 in 4k HDR with VRR at 120fps is fantastic.

Sea of Thieves at 120fps is also a thing of beauty.

After I finished with astrobot and miles Morales I don't feel like there's much interesting on ps5 or even anything interesting coming up in the near future.

Bar my name I like my PS5 and think outside of Gears 5 and Forza it has way better looking games in Demons Souls and Spiderman but after that it’s just blank, UI is terrible, not a fan of the DualShock (it’s innovative but just don’t see it being utilised in there future), BC is terrible can’t upgrade some of my disc versions still.

BC was absolutely shit on as a selling point buts it’s a huge reason I’m using my Series X with FPS boost etc, I just click and install a game, I have a monster library of games that sometimes get upgraded on the Series X, Sony really dropped the ball with this one.

GamePass is starting to get better aswell.

Excited to see what comes from both consoles but I feel PS5 is mega rushed

That is an interesting list of people saying they own both consoles.

I thought the PS5 was whisper quiet?

The console is quiet until the drive starts spinning. Then it is fairly loud. I haven't had any of the "coil whine" at all.

I honestly thought it was whisper quiet, I heard about the coil whine but didn’t think that would be heard over the sound off TV, as long as it don’t sound as loud abs my PS4 🙈🙈

Thankfully the drive isn't used very often so most times it is fine.
