Got both at launch and mainly played the ps5 for miles played a little Godfall and sackboy then spent an absurd amount of time in fenyx rising. After that I haven't turned my ps5 on in like a month been playing the outriders demo and black ops on my series x. My series x is also my entertainment hub youtube tv disney + etc. There aren't many games out so I just move back and forth according to the games that I want to play

Cool but look, this is on my xbox right now, no streaming or messing around, it's all just.... there. If I have time to sit down and just game, I boot up the series X without hesitation.
Since both PS2 and PS4 games can be downloaded and played locally, what you are saying relates only to PS3 games, , and emulating them on PS4 is probably impossible. If anything, for those two systems, PS Now is the service that let's you play istantly, before even downloading, via streaming at any moment (GP, PS Plus and PS Now require a connection anyway). I really hope Sony does the same for PS3, at least on PS5 systems, as soon as possible.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
What’s the point? The rivalry between Sony and Microsoft? I love PlayStations games and you’re guaranteed AAA games which seems like a long shot for Microsoft (Gears 5 trash, Forza is okkkk, and there hasn’t been a huge commitment to Halo since the 360 era) you got to take those into consideration.

This is not the consensus people would have expected four months ago. Even on here.
Interesting.

Lol look how "Mr Potato Head" likes every PS5 post and "laughs" at the users who choose Xbox. I think he is struggling with the results.

PS5 will be my holy grail by the end of the gen but Xbox is absolutely the top dog for now. Way more to play, and way more optimized games.

At first PS5> Because of the PS+ instant collection, but 4 ish months in and XSX>> Because Game pass and enhanced BC, plus 3rd party titles that run better and VRR support at 1440p 120. XSX Controller is also much nicer to use. Having a TV that does 1440P 120 VRR makes going with PS5 on any 120 FPS game a bad choice.

PS+ game like 3 years ago but glad you are enjoying it
I got PS+ only in late PS3/early PS4 days. I guess my final month was in January-march of 2016, playing Battlefront or something. Either way, I didn't have Yakuza on PS4. Now I don't have any new Sony exclusive games because I played all on PS4, but I do have a lot on Game Pass to play, so... yeah

Honestly, I'm probably in the minority here but I missed a lot of exclusives from PS4. I went from PC (bought in 2016) to next-gen consoles so I have quite a large PS4 backlog.

I find my Series X is still getting the majority of my time, but I can't put my finger on why because I have an enormous amount of games to play on each. Game Pass makes the choice paralysis easier because I don't feel bad about swapping between games or stopping after a few hours if I'm not enjoying something. On PS5 I feel some guilt if I'm not playing something I just paid $40-60 for.

Is there even a PS3 emulator that works well enough to do that?
On pc we have reached a good spot with performances (in a lot of games both resolution and framerate can be enhanced), but gameplay is usually plagued with stuttering and hiccups. That shouldn't be a problem for Sony, since they know how PS3 is made inside out and thus they can iron out any nuisance: the fact that an unofficial emulator is so close to being fully functional, bodes really well for the ipotetical official one. If they are interested in doing such a thing :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Bought a PS5 on Demons Soul hype then the hype died down and I didn't buy it, $70 is ridiculous. Then GamePass happened with Gears Hivebusters, Hitman 3, The Medium and other games I can play for years instead of just Demons Soul.
Currently prefer XSX for more comfortable controller, BC, Gamepass, and overall console design.

Certainly prefer the XSX currently. Coil whine, build issues, less than ideal UI, and half baked storage upgrade options are all reasons why the PS5 gets less play. Most of my friends are also on Xbox so there's that. I'm sure I'll get the new Ratchet and Clank game when it comes out but I'd be lying if I said Game pass wasn't a huge reason to play games on Xbox. I had no intention on buying Outriders at all. Now me and my friends will all be jumping in. It's a fantastic service.

I just started The Pathless on my PS5 and I'm really enjoying that, it feeeeeels like you should play it at 60fps, but the games art is ruined by running it at the lower resolution, you lose all the micro detail and when the camera pulls out the character is too blurred for me.

I've played SM:MM and that was great, amazing what better camera work and even better more animation blending can do for basically the same combat, its really worth it even if you just played Spiderman 2018, its like the difference between Arkham City and Arkham Knight, its mostly just a more polished version of the previous version but it really elevates it.

Sackboy is fun but I feel like it wants to be played in coop so not mainlining that one right now. I'm waiting for a sale on Demon's Souls because I may not like it based on my previous FROM forays,

I don't have an Xbox because I have no family (Sp quick resume is pointless for me, takes 20 seconds to swap between games on PS5) and I have a PC so I can play all the MS games there anyway.

I do use rechargeable batteries, as I even said in the sentence you quoted (but didn't read?). Doesn't change the fact that most won't and will have to replace the batteries regularly.
I did, but you said "quite often" so i advised the Eneloops since they are great.

So far I have only played two games on my PS5. Spiderman at 60FPS and God of War also at 60 FPS. Oh and I played that new Resident Evil 8 demo if you count that. It wasn't very long.

On Xbox I have played a ton of games. Gamepass is awesome and keeps me entertained. Also, because of Gamepass my friends and I all have access to the same games so it's not a big deal for someone to recommend a game for us all to try. Some good some bad but we have fun trying them. And with quick resume jumping back into a single player game is no big deal.

I can't wait to see what the future holds for both platforms but I doubt I play much on my PS5 until Forbidden West comes out.

stumbled upon this thread. I have a question. Why isn’t the xbox series s listed here as well? I have been told that it is the same a series x for people without a 4K display and it is a next gen system.

I want to have both, but finding a PS5 in the wild is like finding a unicorn that lays golden eggs. I'm pretty satisfied with the Series X though. I can wait until there are 3-5 excellent PS5 exclusives to pick up a PS5. Hopefully the actual console will be easier to get by then!

Interesting reading the comments in this thread. I only have Series X so I have no comparison and no vote from me.

I must say I'm impressed so many people managed to snag both consoles. Getting 1 XsX was difficult enough. We must have some members who are either really patient or excellent at hitting F5 a million times :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Do feel free to vote if you own a Series S and a PS5, I just put XSX as its more of a like-for-like comparison with the PS5.

playing demons souls, miles morales, cod cold war and sack boy adventures,so ps5 by a mile, its what happens when you have exclusive games also i play third partys on ps5 because most of them are better and dual sense support beat anything xbox series x might offer ( none at the moment) so i have a series x the way a father have his ugly incompetent son, just for pure pity XD

I give the edge to PS5 but I'm disappointed with both to be honest. Xbox One X is my favorite console. I feel that if I had just stuck with One X, it would get me 90% of the way there. My most-played games on Gamepass turned out to not even be graphically demanding, so I feel silly playing them on a Series X.

The new consoles will hit their strides in 2022 and they will be must-have by then. Contrast this to the PS4, which I feel became a must-have for fence sitters by Q2 2014.

Ps5 is collecting dust and was only used to play Demon's Souls and also review Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War because Activision was kind enough to offer a free digital copy.l for review purposes.

Xbox Series X has been used far more extensively due to review copies of titles such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla and other games.

Also, playing Sea of Thieves, Gears 5 and many other 1stt party titles through Game Pass on the Series X with massive visual upgrades is a blessing.

Hopefully, Returnal and Oddworld will give my PS5 some life. Trying out God of War with the FPS patch was also a great experience and will most likely play through the game again at some point. Waiting for Bloodborne now, but we all know how that goes..

Other than that, Xbox Series X is too good right now and it will get even better once the new 1st party studios roll out their next games such as Fable, Avowed, Halo Infinite and so on.

Xbox. hands down. My PS5 is getting dusty. Its mostly down to me using the Xbox more last gen. So i have a much bigger library over there. And i prefer to play multiplats on Xbox. Plus the controller and online services are way better imo. Backwards compatibility too. Xbox is just a no brainer for anyone that had a 360 and or XB1.

i didn't like PS4. But God of War was one of the best games last gen. So i got my fun out of it. I was a Playstation guy. I preferred PS3 to 360, and PS2 is still the best console of all time imo. But i feel like playstation keeps going backwards. They just have the best exclusive library unfortunately so i am doomed to keep buying these things i guess.

Gamepass is my preferred service. But I like PSNow. It was trash like a year or two ago. But now the streaming works pretty well. And they have lots of Playstation exclusives on there. The library other than that is still not great. Leans too heavy on the PS3 and weeb side for my taste. But it has a better fighting game selection than Gamepass. Its just tragic that the PS2 selection is so paltry considering PS2 had one of the deepest most diverse line-up of games of all time.

The biggest factor I think is they seem to be supporting my digital library more here. It feels like I'll still be able to play my digital OG Xbox and 360 games on whatever the next Xbox console is and many of them could get further enhanced going forward. So I ended up with Xbox as my main platform for buying digital games and multiplatform games and it ended up as my largest library. Game Pass, GP Quests and Rewards Points keep me coming back daily.

Couple things that really bug me about PS5 currently:
- Library is filled with junk/partial games that I can't filter or get rid of.
- putting console in sleep mode for auto-download leaves the red lights on which is no good for a bedroom.

Both are great though, just because I use one more than the other doesn't mean the other isn't good. Funny thing is, with both consoles I'm mostly playing older games anyway. I find it works out nice to wait until all the patches have been delivered and the games have settles before jumping in. Theres always a few games like Gran Turismo 7 or anything Final Fantasy that I'll play day one on PS5 when they come.

If only my penis was as big as my GamerScore!
Well as things stand it's Horizon, God of War, Ratchet and Returnal vs Halo.

Obviously that's all subject to delays and hopefully some more announcements.
Horizon and God of War are likely delayed and Xbox has a few unannounced titles yet. I would say it is far from certain PS5 will have better exclusives this fall.

I own both.
I enjoy playing both.
Both play games well.
Both offer exclusive games.
Don't have a "preference" for either one with respect to game libraries/capabilities .. though I do "prefer" my elite controller versus standard XSX controller and PS5 DualSense...

However - I'm currently playing my XSX more as of late (GPU provides huge backlog)..
