I'm still a little confused. This event is called the Windblume festival, but in the game everybody from Mondstadt was saying "Can't wait for Ludi Harpastrum". Is this the same event and they just retconned the name, or is that a different festival?
It's probably the same. Even if it's not the same, MiHo will never make 2 separate festivals in 1 city xD

So the Geovishap event ends tonight. It felt like the first half of a larger event.
Yeah, no final boss fight, no secret dungeon or arena, no nothing. Feels like a cheap way of giving out some leftovers primogems without spending any resources on MiHo part... Speaking about cheap way of giving out primogems. Look at this fan art dedicated to lantern festival. It won 1st place in MiHo contest:
CfJ1N2V.jpg

Players definitely wanted to see more heroes from the game. Instead we got NPC's asking us to deliver some wood/paper/make a lantern xD

No, it's a different one.

P.S.
Today I've got another Poetry Exchange. Last two days I didn't get it, I was getting worried.

No, it's a different one.
One is real and coming in a week, another one is just a random NPC dialogue that was probably written long before an actual in game celebration was planned. Maaaaaaaybe second festival will come when grandmaster will come back. But I seriously doubt it.

Speaking about real and imaginary. I know that in 1.5 everyone is very excited for the Chasm. Makes sense because we have it marked on a map. But what about Blackcliff Forge ? You know , the forge from which current store weapons came? It's located right next to the Golden House (Childe's arena) and NPC'S call it a very important place and center of Liyue's wealth/production strength. Would be great to have it finally open and get some new weapon designs and additional materials.

Also, I found this damage calculator but I don't have the patience necessary to sit there and type in all of my characters/artifacts to maximize my dps. If any of you are interested, go nuts.

Does this thing really work? Tried to choose and type things but nothing happens.

Interesting to see what people do when out of resin.

I'd actually like a whole video of the ruin sentinel getting down. He's got that 80s breakdance feel.

Low energy and low effort. Freely available 3d models, stock dance moves also freely available and some random dance music. Wanna see a real effort? File for Cocogoat custom model for 40$ that you can print on 3D printer:

Beginning to worry about what the anniversary goods in Genshin will look like... they've done almost zero download milestones as well...
It's kinda funny, at the beginning of the game, everyone was like "I can't believe there's something of this quality for free!" and now everybody has realized their content model and it's non-stop complains of the bullshit "cheaping out" that they do for players. I'll be honest, with how smoothly the launch went, I expected them to have a much better plan and content release schedule than the anemic mostly boring shit we've gotten thus far. I also expected them to do world chest refreshes and stuff like that, which we still haven't even heard of as a possibility in the future.

Seems like they did the initial campaign/milestone rewards to draw players in and then *WHAM* they take it away and show you how their system actually works.

And DFFOO continues to spoil me. Last month for joining you got campaign rewards for shit you missed and shit that was ongoing and a recent one the beginning of March too.

If GI's rewards and events continue to be lackluster then people will only log in for story progression. When a game starts to feel like a job that's when you stop playing.

These dry periods feel like the perfect time to release character story quests. Surprised that they wouldn't have developed a couple of these to keep in their back pocket and bust out when there's nothing on the schedule. The last weeks of the 1.2 and 1.3 updates have had jack sh*t to do.

Something like a daily commission remix would be nice. So instead of the same commissions at the same locations repeating endlessly, maybe mix it up with fatui appearing at a location that is usually a hillichurl related commission.

Or maybe introduce 10-15 new daily commissions every update or so, while removing 10-15 old non-achievement commissions from the rotation. This would help avoid the feeling that you're doing the same commissions over and over.

Seems like there's some low-effort ways for Mihoyo to give the appearance of new-ish content while not spending a lot of resources.

From my experience with Honkai it wasn't any better, but looking at the pre-launch campaign and how different it was, I thought they were going to go for a different approach... Nope. Same shite especially when other games in the same model are far more generous in their approach.

I wonder if MiHo is even care about F2P. They're in black already, new banners make enough money to support servers and make millions of dollars. Support for GI is really anemic and by the time 2.0 drops MiHo risks to lose most of the playerbase. The real question is if they care and will try to do something or will just say "Thanks for your money, now we are milking whales. Please do not disturb us with your F2P complains".

I never played their games for long, so i can't really comment or predict their long time strategy.

You would think that even whales want some new content. What's the point of dropping all that cash C6-ing the latest banner 5-star if the only thing to do with that character is same abyss levels and weekly bosses?

I've been playing Honkai for over a year now and it's got way more stuff going on in every big patch. They definitely like to keep the stamina income VERY low though. In this game it's Resin, in Honkai it's Stamina. There's a very tight fixed amount of regen that you get and once that's over, you pretty much wait. They also calculate the weekly stamina income/spending and pretty much leave you neutral, so you can't really stockpile it if you're doing all the various modes. One thing I'll say about Honkai though, they constantly barrage you with events of different types and even completely different gameplay. Even at the end of the patches when things are winding down, there's still 2-3 simultaneous events and enough content to always feel like you have stuff to do. In fact, I'd argue that most days there may be a little too much stuff to do, to the point that I don't feel like doing it.

My biggest complaint with Honkai is that everything is laid bare as "this is the best, pay us if you want it". There's no real experimentation with weapons/team comps/stigmata (think artifacts). There's a set that they make for each new character that's just flat out the best, and it's always in a gacha. You can make lesser sets for free with grind though, so unless you need to show your e-peen, you can get by. Also, unlike Genshin, they have competitive scoring modes, so there's a driving force to get the best times/scores in various modes throughout the week.

Playing both, I'm especially surprised with how bare the content is in Genshin. I honestly expected it to be even more packed/interesting than Honkai considering the profits and playerbase size. Like I said previously though, we're still probably a good 6-8 months behind in content lag though, so this stuff we're getting was likely developed when they were trying to release and fine tune the base game. I'm willing to give them time to get their shit together, but it sure doesn't help things right now. I am a little optimistic that the developer leaks basically stated that they're not going to tie progression to Resin from Inazuma onwards, so let's hope that's actually true.

Yeah, I'm not saying that they will flat out stop developing new content, but what if this is all they have? Long droughts with random banners and a fixed amount of primogems to give out? Whales can always look forward to 2.0, 3.0, etc. while being busy building C6 characters and pulling on each and every banner just because they can afford it. F2P players have the same content, sure, but how many of them will stick around without pulling for so long and without any ways of getting more characters or getting them faster? Of course we will get new content, the question is if anyone besides whales will stay to see it and if MiHo will care.

I'm sure this is coming. Good thing I care only about new content and nothing else. I never look at this type of games in a competitive way.

So... just like GI lol

Yeah, I wonder if they even care about the size of its playerbase outside of creating initial hype.

Oh, it's true. Get ready for Ultra Resin! You think I'm joking, but I'm not. Look at last 2 characters. They both require additional boss fights and another currency (material) for upgrade. I think the only thing we are safe to farm is just gold. Anything else can become obsolete very fast. I'm pretty sure we will get golden XP books sooner rather than later too.

Man if only that applied to real life. I'd totally go to KFC for 3 Drumsticks and to receive 10,000 dollars. Hell I'd take 10,000 quarters even.
Hah.
That's why we play and that's why our hobbies are always a form of escapism. Something to break free from daily routine and normality. Unfortunately this nonsense about games reflecting real life's norms makes games sterile, boring and all around a watered down experience. People discuss newly leaked Zattana movie and everyone universally agrees that we will never get her classic costume (think Mona in a top hat). So yeah, not only you will not get 10k golden coins in real life, even in games/media you're getting stuck with a grounded and mediocre experience.

Can't say I would say that phrase to the person working on it, but I would totally eat there.
I'm kinda depressed because the only local KFC here is gone for good.

You laugh. Chinese people storming KFC. Police forces were deployed to regulate the lines.
Shit is working and it's just sad xD

3 drumsticks and 10k gold is all you will ever get...
I'll take any excuse to go to KFC and grab a meal tbh. Haven't gone in like a year.
If only that stupid phrase sent my ass to Teyvat.

Depends. Sure, it's embarrassing and absolutely humiliating to do anything like that in a local fast food restaurant just to get a stupid badge/token , but as you can see on a photos, you wouldn't be the only basement dweller doing this nonsense. Incels unite!

Though if in China campaigns like that are as common as they are in Japan, then it's no worry. Just embrace it. Although I don't think Japan promos ever make you repeat phrases...
