Lets celebrate the upcoming legendary edition by discussing why liara t’soni is great and why all the other romance options are fucking street trash. she’s easily the hottest asari (the consort, peebee, and samara/mordinth are in the dumpster somewhere). She’s not an obnoxious space racist/wanna be poet like ashley, she has personality unlike miranda (miranda got an ass tho), she can live outside a suit unlike tali, and she doesn’t look to be riddled with std’s like jack. Also shes with you the whole time, she doesn’t show up for one game and bounce like kelly chambers or the british one from three who showers in her underwear.

Liara can be romanced by both Male and Female Shepard since ME1, so it does make sense that she received the most attention.

I liked Tali but her romance was badly written. It could've been an interesting and tragic romance about two people who longed be together, but instead the writers did a whole bunch of asspulls so her and Shepard could fuck. "It's all good dude, I took a Vitamin C packet, so we can swap fluids and I won't get horribly sick."

i also really think bioware cheaped out by not creating a model for her when she takes her mask/suit off. It just reeks of “we didn’t have the budget” a slap in the face for anyone who chose the tali romance path

If they had stuck to their guns in that Quarians can never remove their suits, then that photo of her would've carried a lot more meaning. Her romance could've been written as two people who really love each other, but it can never be, due to her condition. But despite not being able to get physical with each other, their love could persevere both emotionally and spiritually, which I think could've been a tragic but also powerful and beautiful. In the end, she risks everything to take off her helmet, so she could take a picture of herself, and give it to her love. It's the most powerful romantic gesture a Quarians could give.

Thats a good way to look at it. Since i never went down the tali romance path i never thought about it like that. But the fact that we can even have this discussion just goes to show how above and beyond biowares character writing was back then. The characters in mass effect stuck with me like harry, ron, and hermione stuck with me when i read harry potter as a kid
