$400,000,000.00 in week 1 sales

$60 dollar game

That's 6.6 million copies sold in the first week.

And in October of 2015, Microsoft most likely didn't have between 20-25 million XBO sold, as I said.

They probably had around 15 million sold.

Vs 80 million PS4s on the market at GoW 2018 launch.

Good luck, God of War people.
6.6 million copies LOL .....dude, if you're going to trouble yourself looking for the most fringe sources to fight for your cause, at least learn how to READ

$400m in global sales of Halo 5: Guardians games and hardware.................. AND HARDWARE.................whatever the f...that means.. .lol, Microsoft had to throw in all the numbers from Xbones sold in that week worldwide too? No surprise, that's the level of pathetic they had stooped down to....If anything Halo 5 sold 6.6 million in its lifetime, lmao

How many copies of Halo 5 sold on 100 million + PCs? I'll be waiting.
It never released on PC. It was released just before Microsoft started doing day and date PC releases for their games, and it has still to this day not been released on PC. Its actually a travesty, as I think it had the best multiplayer of any Halo ever, and it never got the chance to shine on high quality hardware.........

"The most fringe sources."

The source is Microsoft.

You have to read what they're saying "games and hardware" which means that $400,000,000 isn't from just sales so the game didn't do 6 million units in a week

In fact, we know it did 5 million after 3 months https://gamingbolt.com/halo-5-sold-five-million-copies-in-three-months

Ok, I didn't see that.

The gaming industry is seeing Valheim compete with The Last of Us II numbers despite The Last of Us selling 20+ million copies.

I'm not as impressed with IP as many of you. I still say no chance Ragnarok outsells Infinite. User base + multiplayer influence sales dramatically.

It's potential audience is 165 million gamers.

100 million on PC
50 million on XBO
15 million on SX

GamePass has 13 million subscribers.

GoW has 0 chance.
A mossive percentage of those "100" million PC's are massively underpowered machines that play low graphics games such as lol , counterstrike etc how do you expect them to play halo infinite when there's so much riding on it looking stellar and reach decent fps from the Xbox fan base ?

I'm more excited for Halo but I think God of War will be bigger with the masses. Halo lost its luster after Bungie left (hell even before they left the train felt like it was slowing down) whereas GoW's last game rejuvenated the series and was very well received.

God of War has had a much more recent and successful entry, so I'm not surprised there is more excitement for it compared to Infinite. I'd also say that the number of playstation fans skews higher on gaf, well any forum for that matter. God of War was never my type of game, so I'm by far more excited for Halo. Regardless of how the campaign turns out I'm always down for matchmaking. This is a classic Sony single player game versus Microsoft multiplayer faceoff. I hope both turn out really good.

I feel like Halo has more potential due to the multiplayer free section. I love GOW, but feel ripped off by the last one not really being a whole game, is this just part 2?
Halo has more potential to explode into something massively popular again.

Seriously people laughing at Halo sales figures in this thread when God of War as a franchise has sold half as many total copies, despite GoW having more entries than Halo when you include re-releases (40m sold to 80m sold). Laughable.

I’ve literally platinumed every GoW, including the 2 PSP games that were ported to PS3. But to try and make it sound like it’s a behemoth based on one ultra successful entry, when the rest have sold pretty poorly and when the first 3 Halo games in particular were literally global phenomenons. Don’t make me laugh.

GOW 2018 was the way to reboot and re-invent a beloved IP, it took everything great about the original games and built on it but made it all better immeasurably, I have zero faith in MS or 343i to be able to re-invent Halo.

Microsoft are the master fudgers.
GOW 2018 was a breathe of fresh air. Halo is just another rinse and repeat game
This.

The problem is:
MS Now has Doom as far as first person green space marines are concerned (sure you fight aliens or demons--but still the green suit is from Doom).
Will they make Halo third person like Gears of War but with a helmet?

Both their other clone franchises are too similar to Halo, which has been a zombie franchise since at least Halo 5 (Halo 5 sold pretty well, but it also took away a lot of the good will fans had for the franchise, any coming sequel will pay for this).

It will end like this:

343 is just not up to the task, otherwise MS would not have had to buy the company that makes Doom.

Ragnarok will outsell infinite by 2:1. Book it. Ragnarok rides off God of War 2018 which has sold past 20 million by now. Ragnarok won't be out for at least a year, which is only good for the game.

Multiplayer says nothing anymore, and you don't even have to buy Infinite to play it anyway? Look at the ridiculous numbers Sony single player games are raking in over the last few years.

Microsoft will be putting a ton of advertising and money behind halo. It will have lots going on for it but 343 will really need to knock it out the park to put it back on track single player wise.
However, personally I am eagerly waiting on GOW more and can't wait to see what happens with kratos and his BOY!

The metrics are so dilluted there's no point trying to compare

Multiplayer is free and they're practicaly giving away the single player portion via gamepass

Only definitive thing you can say is God of War is going to outsell Infinifte as far as retail sales go

Just beated master chief saga on mcc , what an awesome experience! , though it's sad to see less than a percent who beated this saga.

Neither... Give me breath of the Wild 2 - it's gonna destroy Halo and God of War by s comfortable margin! Why is it no on the poll?

I love Halo but I've been watching it decline for years now. It just doesn't hit with the same intensity it used to and 343 has so far done nothing to convince me that they've got what it takes to bring Halo back to the status it used to have. The magic it had. God of War, on the other hand, has been top notch for all but one game and the most recent one is not only the best in the series but will probably be remembered as one of the greatest games of all time. I'm also a sucker for Norse mythology so the setting is right up my alley and I'm really eager to see where the story goes. The current path the Halo story has been taking just isn't doing it for me.

GOW was a very satisfying game, I'll be very interested to see where a sequel can go. It's tough for me to see it being better than 2018 for me.

Halo is more interesting because I'll put 100X as many hours in due to MP though. It's also a very new direction for the IP, more like GOW 2018 was

I have no idea to what expect from Infinite, so hard to tell if I’ll even like it.
I liked 2018 GoW a lot, but I sincerely hope they are ditching that crappy loot system.
In NO WAY it contributed to make the game better.

Halo is what brought me to the Xbox. It will always be the most exciting game for me, so naturally I’m more excited to get infinite. I’ll buy a PS5 for GoW though, so take that for what it is.

You gotta assume most already did before the MCC. They probably played through the couple they felt like returning to.

Both will be shit. nuGod of War is shit as well as nuHalo is shit. They both lost what was good about older games.

God of War became The last of Gods of War while Halo became Halo: Generic FPS

Voted Halo: Infinite but I know God of War: Ragnarok is going to be the better game. Kratos is too powerful, and if his son is in his teens the game will be unbelievably good

If 343i gets the maps right though, there could be no stopping the Halo train. Everything depends on the multiplayer maps and gameplay. But mainly the maps. If 343i can understand that, they will be able to reignite and unify the fan base

God of War 2018 and other Sony PS4 IPs are among the reasons why I am today a happy PS5 owner and PS Plus subscriber (on top of being a PC Gamer for more than 20 years).

So far, I have never been attracted to any Microsoft IPs
