IGN's journalists says Xbox should kill Grounded and TOW2/DLC and have them work TES6

They should finish Grounded, it seems like a cool little family game and they're probably pretty close finishing it anyway, but unless they have contractual agreements with Private Division, kill any Outer Worlds DLC and divert that talent to TES VI or FO:NV 2.

I don’t want anybody but Beth on TES. I say let them have full reign over fallout, Beth wasn’t coming back to it for a decade anyway

What a bad take, Grounded is a very well received game on Steam and TOW DLC shouldn't possibly take no more than a few months to be released. Ironic is that people keep saying that Microsoft killed their previous studios freedoms and creativity yet are now asking for the same shit just because the new ones are not only making AAA games.

Exactly my thinking, that's why I stuck it in there. As much as I love TES, I love Fallout even more.

This is dumb. Grounded is fun, and has tons of potential. It also has a decent player base. Why kill it? Outer Worlds wasn't groundbreaking or anything, but it also did pretty well for a new IP, and the world they built could have a lot more stories to tell, especially if given a decent budget and time. I would rather Microsoft keep new interesting IPs that are doing well rather than bet the farm on only a few franchises. Xbox's problem has always been they only have "Halo, Gears, Forza", Let's not make that "Halo, Gears, Forza, TES, Fallout, Doom". Give me a variety of interesting experiences!

Bethesda will be full in on Elder Scrolls 6 once Starfield is finished. They will have a small team obviously supporting Starfield, and making dlc, but the majority of staff will move on to Elder scrolls. If Starfield launches this fall, Elder Scrolls could be ready in another 3-4 years. They have had some staff working on Elder Scrolls 6 for a while already, while the bulk of staff have been on Starfield, todd said that himself.

I got really tired of the political crap that was on IGN podcasts. The last one I was subscribed to was Podcast Unlocked primarily because of McCaffrey. Although he mostly keep politics out of it, his opinions like this one kind of turned me off from the podcast.

This is why I can't take ign seriously these days. They like everyone else begged Microsoft to give their studios the same freedom Sony does. Once matt booty does that and some we get this please return to the don era of forcing studios to do games they don't want. To stifle creativity all to get a big IP out lol. I'm sure moral won't be crushed and talent desertion won't happen if they return to a Darth Don style management.

One says kill Avowed and the other says kill Grounded? :messenger_grimmacing_

Outer Worlds team should be working on that Series X upgrade and I am waiting for it.

Well, why stop there?

Only let the entirety of Xbox Game Studios work on one game at a time. Fuck the personal passions and creativity of their teams, their goals, their ambitions, and the variety that such creative freedoms brings to the medium; we've got console wars to fuel. Kill every single Xbox game except one, and have 15,000 employees working on that one title. Obviously software development is a linear equation; that many more people means the game will be completed faster and at a higher quality than any one studio could do. Sony won't be able to compete. TLOU2 took 400 people six years to finish? Fuck that noise - using IGN's innovative approach, Xbox could churn out TLOU2 every six months. Holy shit - why hasn't anyone ever done this before? IGN are playing on a fifth dimension here, folks.

I'm surprised Ryan McAffrey had that take. He's a big Xbox guy. I would think he'd want as much diversity and as many projects to come out of Microsoft's acquisitions as possible. Sure, they need some big games but those are going to come regardless of a side project and DLC support for a game of the year nominee. Killing those isn't going to change much. You're not getting Elder Scrolls 6 any time soon. Let the devs take their time with it. Throwing more people at the project isn't going to make it a quality title. Look at some of Ubisoft's games that had 500 to 1000 people working on them.

I think it has the potential to be up there with Subnautica once it's done. One of the better survival games due to it's emphasis on exploration and rewarding curiosity.

Wow, really? I only played Grounded a little bit and decided I wanted to wait to play it after it was complete. I did really like what I saw of the game, but I loved Subnautica so that's very high praise.

Wonder what their experience running a game development and publishing business with thousands of employees is.
