Halo Infinite, if they are using MCC as a test base for features, 343 are really doing well.

God of War is going to be a beast though, was one of my favorite games last gen and after seeing how good Demons Souls looks its got massive potential.

Then again Infinite is also introducing free MP & 10 years of updates so we will have to see

God of War is one of my favorite series and I've never played a Halo game, so....

That said I'm still looking forward to Halo and will try it day 1 on PC.

They can build off the engine they used for the PS4 and take advantage of the PS5 if Ragnarok is PS5 exclusive.

Which studio starts an engine from scratch when making a sequel.
Insomniacs engine isnt from scratch but R&C is very clearly a nextgen title.

I dont see them starting a brand new engine for a game coming out soonish but i fully expect Ragnorock on PS5 to be a "true" nextgen experience.

Halo multiplayer for me

Although I'm probably equally as pumped for the single player campaign as I am for God of War

When are new members allowed to vote in polls?

It's potential audience is 165 million gamers.

100 million on PC
50 million on XBO
15 million on SX

GamePass has 13 million subscribers.

GoW has 0 chance.
100 million PC and the biggest games that release on both console and PC all sell more on console. Actually, the Ps4 version alone outsells the PC releases...

0 chance of what? Outselling a game that not many people will actually BUY it? Ok.

Out of those two it’s easily God of War ..... Halo is a franchise in decline, nowhere it’s Bungie glory days.

Sony first party is proven quality and Cory and the SSM team quality is well known.

How are you exactly pulling the PC numbers? lol

PC and console market revenue are nearing 50/50. Console market still has lead (55:45)

PS4+XBox One+Switch install base is well over 150 million at this point.

100 million PC gamers seemed like a conservative estimation.

22 % Halo Infinite (Xbox biggest game) vs 67 % Ragnarok (so 1:3) tells you all you need to know. Xbox has a few vocal fans on here, but in the grand scheme of things, people don't care much about xbox and xbox exclusives. It's all about Playstation...
You let GAF polls really fuck with you. And I fuckin love GOW

Actually, if you look at the best selling PS4 games (all time) and the best selling PC games (all time), the PC games have the edge. Most of which released in the last 10 years.

PC market revenue is certainly greater than PS4 market revenue as well.

GoW has 0 chance at outselling Halo Infinite.

If both were releasing in 2023, it would be much more of a toss up. The PS5 user base is just too small.

Just finished God of War and I'm legit excited for the next one. Never really got into the Halo craze, even though I played the crap of Halo 1.

How many copies of Halo 5 sold on 100 million + PCs? I'll be waiting.

Exactly. I highly doubt they spent 3+ years building an engine from scratch only to do it again for the PS5
I also think Raganrok is PS5 exclusive. Will it get delayed most likely but it would nice to be able to play it inside a warm cozy home during the cold winter
But I think it will be the visual and gameplay showcase for the PS5 showing what the PS5 is capable of in terms of graphics and gameplay
We should see gameplay ideas, elements, sequences, etc. that are not possible on the PS4 but are possible now due to the PS5's technology
That's what I am excited about for the xbox and playstation this gen and especially for Ragnarok and a studio like Santa Monica
I imagine the set pieces and gameplay sequences will be Hollywood movie like
If it's cross gen that would be very disappointing but reasonable from a business standpoint
Unfortunately the scope of the gameplay will be limited due to the limitations of the PS4 hardware
We will get amazing graphics but not the fidelity that could have been possible and we will miss out on gameplay that is a result of PS5 technology

Or God of War was better than previous Halo games and will just be way better and a lot of people from both sides agree on that

I wonder how many PC gamers will bite when Infinite releases day and date on their preferred platform with Microsofts marketing blitz.
You didn't answer the question. Halo 5 definitely sold less than any other Main Halo Title. Sources estimate in between 5-10 million, edging towards the lower end. God of War 2018 on a PS4 alone sold over 10 million in its first year, going by the milestone Sony revealed the franchise had reached over 50 million units sold at the end of 2020, and knowing by the time Ascension released (which only sold around 3 million) the total franchise number was around 22 million, it's more than safe to estimate God of War PS4 sales around 15-20 million units, edging more towards the higher end. Halo is on free fall, God of War is on the rise.

I’m only more excited for Halo because I have Series X and a PS4 Pro and no PS5. I’m not playing cross gen shit on my Pro. I refuse.

Halo 5 came out in 2015, when there were around 20-25 million XBox One's in gamers homes.

5-10 million, with that user base, is pretty damn good.

Now Halo Infinite has the luxury of a user base many times bigger than that.

GoW 2018 came out when there were 80 million PS4s in the wild.

I'm not buying that GoW is a bigger franchise than Halo yet.

Halo 5 took 3 months to hit 5 million units

God of War hit 3 million units in 3 days

There's more Playstation 5 consoles sold as well so I'm going to assume God of War Ragnorak will do better than Halo Infinite

$400,000,000.00 in week 1 sales

$60 dollar game

That's 6.6 million copies sold in the first week.

And in October of 2015, Microsoft most likely didn't have between 20-25 million XBO sold, as I said.

They probably had around 15 million sold.

Vs 80 million PS4s on the market at GoW 2018 launch.

Good luck, God of War people.

Now Halo Infinite has the luxury of an user base that paid or will pay for Game Pass. Why buy the game full price when you get it for $1? $5? Whatever, $15? Still less than $60 o $50. Many will try the game just because it's that cheap, doesn't mean they will spend more or invest further into it. Meanwhile God of War Ragnarok could even be PS5 exclusive for all it matters in this comparison, it will likely sell the whole generation, 4, 5 solid years. With all the hype built into it will definitely hit pass the previous game 1st year numbers, more than 10 million. Estimate the first year it sells at an average price of $50 to be generous. That's 0.5 billion in revenue just in the first year. If the game is also available on PS4 it will certainly hit close to 20 million only in its first year, so almost 1 billion dollars in revenue . Halo will sell GAME PASS subs, but how long those subscribers stay and keep spending into the ecosystem is what will determine the success of making Infinite a service game. If it ends up duplicating the Game Pass base, I don't know the exact number but let's say now it is 15 million, and in a year it jumps to 30 million, with I dunno, 10 million of those new subs credited to Halo Infinite craze alone, then it could be consider a success for the service. 1 billion kind of success? I don't know, only time and the player base for the game will tell, because if all it does is inflate the sub numbers the first 4 months and then people drop out and the game becomes stale, well, you already know what that means. God of War are hard sales, they don't depend on a service, you can take that billion to the bank already, 'cause it's going to make it.

God of War, one of my favorite games. After bloodborne the best game last gen for me.

halo gonna do fine but god of war 2018 was a tremendous launch with a lot of non gamers asking about it and quite some picking it up here in Germany. Will be a Monster Launch.

halo last few entries were not great. Maybe when word of mouth that it is great it will skyrocket after a bit but day 1? Not to sure about it. Both games gonna be massive tough

I loved GoW, but don’t really want a sequel, because the previous game was so singular, with a very personal story that doesn’t really need a continuation. I’m pretty sure they will come up with something good, tho.

So, I’m choosing Halo, because the story isn’t over yet and I’m always ready to get back to that world.

I can't guess which will be more successful but my answer is a resounding Halo Infinite. GOW on PS4 was great but it's only been 3 years compared to Halo 5, which came out 6 years ago and was the worst Halo campaign by a mile.

Which one is going to be bigger? Halo Infinite for sure. Come on guys it is going to be a FREE multiplayer game on PC+XBOX+XCloud. If Halo 5 and the last few years of MCC have shown anything its that 343 can still do the multiplayer Halo thing just fine. You give them $500 million dollars and 6 years to build Halo multiplayer and then make it free? I would bet my house that there are going to be an absolute ton of people playing that. GOW is awesome, and will do great numbers, but its not F2P and it doesn't have multiplayer.

In terms of which game I'm looking forward to more though? That's actually a hard one. GOW is one of the exclusives I will buy the PS5 for, it is a system seller to me. On the other hand I also love co-op Halo and Halo multiplayer is one of the only online shooters I enjoy at all. I'm not sold on 343's ability to make a compelling single player story right now. I know Staten is back, so it should be good, but the Halo 5 campaign was not good.
