So far summary:

- One X is close to 4k (1944p), but struggles frame time wise and on the top of that it's just 30fps
- PS5 is 1800p max (lowest 1260p), holding 60FPS without issue
- XSX is 2088p max (lowest is 1440p), dipping regulary to 55FPS
- XSS is 1440p max (lowest 900p), dipping regulary to 45FPS
- PS5 have gimped physics, XSS have lower details in comparison to 2 current gen system
- PS5 have more samples for motion blur, producing clearer IQ in motion. Better AF too. However probably also broken HDR.

Another game where PS5 has a solid 60fps, another win for PS5...No stuttering, not hitching, no framerate falling into the mid 50's......Just as Hitman, I suspect PS5 would perform slightly above XBOX at it's 2088P, it would lose some frames but not as much as Series X....

Again, devs prioritizing rez for XBOX when it can't handle it.....Same song and dance since the PRO days.....Framerate is King...

Miss NX on these faceoffs....DF is eagled eye only for when PS is missing something (flag physics), but saw no differences in visuals otherwise, yet other channels have noticed some differences.....

PS5 runs at lower resolution which helps it to maintain 60.

Another Hitman like case.

But you guys should not judge any version based on demo as these issues can be fixed in final game.
XsX runs at a higher resolution and it struggles to maintain 60fps.

As stated in the video, they believe Xbox Series X version needs to have the DRS range lowered to improve frame-rate. Some of you guys fail to understand how balancing frame-rate and resolution works.

This is also not a proper analysis. In 3 player co-op there are way more enemies and much more going on. If they did the tests then we would see the true performance of the demo.

Higher Resolution on Xbox Series X with lower fps stability than PS5 but very similar. Win to Xbox IMO, more pixels being pushed with near similar fps.

It's not similar, it's 50fps in some areas that looks like shit on non-VRR tvs, and that's vast majority of them.

So far it's easy win for PS5 but they can fix this probably by lowering XSX resolution.

Yes, a 10% lower resolution would probably lock it to 60. Would be great for our non-VRR Xbox brethren.
nah, more like 15-20%. the framerate dips below 54 fps at times and in order to hit 60 fps locked, you always wanted to be above 60 fps at all times so when the framerate does drop, it's still above 60 fps.

I remember that uncharted 4 demo running at 37 fps and they ended up locking it to 30 fps. most 30 fps games dont run at exactly 30 fps. they ran at well over that to ensure some crazy effect heavy scene doesnt drop it down below 30 fps.

they basically need to bring the lower bound DRS to the PS5 levels. 1440p is clearly too high for the xsx during combat. thats 3.7 million pixels. 1260p is somewhere around 3 million pixels which is probably where they want to be to hit a locked 60 fps.

Why do developers insist on high resolution with the Series X when it’s clearly struggling to hold a consistent framerate?!

Anyway...ANOTHER ONE!
There are some tools ah shit in UE 4, which basically speed run some section and analyse what resolution should be used, however it's still far from perfect. Simple playtest should be enough to fix this. And hauling 20% pixel on 18% more compute powerful HW is unwise, just while looking at the paper.

It's odd isn't it, same thing happened last gen with a lot of OneX and Pro comparisons.
It could be a nice option for those with VRR displays but it shouldn't be the default.

Just because you can hit a higher resolution doesn't mean you should sacrifice performance because of it
John from DF agrees.

We even see this on the Pro and One X, I dont know why it is. For last gen lowering One X would still put as the best performing AFAIK. I dont wanna tin foil hat this, but like John, it makes you wonder why its like this for XSX.

Max and low res differences isnt that big between PS5 and XSX, fps should be the focus next. Find a good balance.

That sounds like nonsense. The dips are already the lower bound. When the XSX doesn't dip, it probably runs way over 60 fps. The XSX pushes 30-35% more pixels than the PS5, so why should it go all the way down to PS5 level just to cover the lowest dips, which is around 10% below the target 60 frames?
Luckily you probably don't play on PC. Because according to you, you would always go to much lower settings just do increase fps by 10% 🤔 What a waste of resources.

I just want to point out, that if the memory bandwidth is issue, even a slight drop can make huge difference, however you are right, that PS5 runs probably at something around 65 FPS regulary. I find it to be quite stupid to screw the resolution that much higher (like beyond their difference on paper).

The issue is even way worse on the XSS. When the frames drop so hard that even VRR might struggle to clean everything up, it's time to reduce the resolution.

seems to me, ps5 is unlikely to hold good fps if pushed to 2088p.
so the dev, left the res as it is.

meanwhile for SX, the dev is probably satisfied with 55-60fps at 2088p.
i feel a litte more tweaks, and it should run 60fps locked. but 55fps vrr, who can tell a difference?
