I'm going to wait and see if the extra content is worth it but I can currently get the PS4 version for 30$.

I am a happy Playstation customer, but this is a bit weird.
I'm sure I'm not alone that I have the PS4 disc version, and I have a PS+ subscription and a PS5.
I have no intention of offloading my PS4 disc copy, but whenever PS+ doubles up, of course, I just add the game to my digital collection as well, and if I replay it, well, it's just more convenient. Days Gone definitely falls into this category.
So, if I add this to my digital collection, I can play the PS4 version. But if I put the disc in my PS5, I can play the PS5 version?
But then, will the digital version understand that I own the disc, and will the digital version then also play the PS5 version? Or am I having to always put the disc in to play the PS5 version?
This really isn't a good customer experience.

You are an Xbox fan, why are you having a meltdown?
You have the PS4 disc version, that's how those have always worked, the disc is to verify you own the game. If you didn't buy it from the PSN store, then Sony can't know if you bought the game. So, in theory, you could download the PS4 version, get the PS5 upgrade and then pass along the disc to all your friends without anyone having to pay for a copy.
If you want the convenience of the digital copy you'd have to buy one.

Don’t risk it. Square have made it perfectly clear if you add the PS+ game to your library, then you void your free update. yet no doubt plenty of people will do this, then moan afterwards.
Same as you, I generally add the free ps+ digital version if I can, for convenience. But I love a freebie too so hell freezes over before I give away my free upgrade due to a lack of self control clicking that lovely “add to library” button.

I may get death threats from final fantasy fans but there’s not a chance I play FF1-6 before this free final fantasy 7 drops. It’s fashionable to play through a games history and I respect those who do but fuck if I’m starting with 7 this March. That’s it.

I dunno, im pretty happy to be able to play one of the most aclaimed games of 2020 for "free". I only plan to buy the FF7 Remake when its all complete and they launch something like a defenitive edition with all content and DLCs released during the milking period.
This is the deal they reached with Square-Enix to put the game on PS+ so soon. Calling out Sony scummy over this is hillarious.

Anyone know if this is saying that you won’t get the cosmetic upgrades or just that you won’t get upgraded to the PS5 version that includes Yuffie DLC?
It would be odd to have three different versions so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some sort of language gap going on here.

Each game in the series isn't related to the other in story besides common themes and monsters. Don't feel like you have to play them all. Hell, you don't even need to play 7. Angry Joe played Remake without playing 7, and he loved Remake so much, he played 7.

People who bought it will get a free upgrade, everyone else can now play it with their PS+ sub.

You can't have both installed at the same time, so there will be no confusion.
If you have the ps4 digital version installed and put the ps4 disc in it will say that the digital version is already installed and ask which one you want to keep.

The PS+ version is basicly PS4 only, but can be played on PS5 with BC.
Its short sighted by Square, as if they let all ppl upgrade for free, more ppl would buy the Yuffie DLC. This way ppl that get it from PS+ cant buy the DLC. Less money for Square.

They offered a way for people who own the game have the upgrade and as you already know, you don't own Plus games. This is already a surprise considering how mercenary SE is.
If they did your way they would lose money on PS5 version. You think they are trying to sell Yuffie DLC when they are really trying to push the complete package for PS5.
Anyway, I expect PS5 version (Intergrade) to be offered on plus in the year Part 2 is launching. It just makes sense from a business stand point, even more if Part 2 is once again coming first on Playstation.

Ps Plus included Control UE last month but on gamepass the regular edition is the only one available. Did you complain to xbox division? You could have been photo moding for free!

I'm in the camp that thinks it's pretty lame to not include the ps5 version with the ps+ one. You are essentially already paying (renting, whatever) for the game through plus, what difference does the amount or time make. It certainly isn't Sony's fault as they aren't the publisher but it doesn't change it being any less lame.
Has a single other game that had a ps5 patch on plus not had it work before? I can't think of any.
