Sony has confirmed the PS Plus PS5, PS4 games for the month of March 2021, and they are Maquette, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Farpoint, and Remnant: From the Ashes. The PlayStation Blog also confirms you cannot use this PS Plus version of Final Fantasy VII Remake to upgrade to PS5 title Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.
Please note the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake available to PlayStation Plus members is not eligible for the PS5 digital version upgrade.

Gotta make that money somehow.

Really scummy tactic, but Sony won't be called out for it.

Giving this out "for free"(I know it's not free but rented) without getting the PS5 update will tempt many consumers to actually buy the game if they like it, making a psychological affection because "I won't have it before I buy it and I kinda want to". Can't wait to see the occasional three people coughing up an explanation about how this is great.

There you have it. PlayStation for the payers.

Lol, every PS thread without fail. You're the most insecure person on these boards.

How is this scummy? The people who actually bought the game finally get rewarded for once instead thinking they should have just waited instead for it to show up on Plus.

If the people who get the game for free want the upgrade, they will have to pay for it, like the rest of us.

Didn't take long before Sony Defense Force arrived. I expected it to be faster though.

I think it's scummy to "think of the children" and make practises that's made to explain the very same you are sworn to protect.

People who bought the game got rewarded by having it before it went on psplus.

You are paying for the subscription. Nothing “Free” here. It is ridiculous to call the games free. That is like calling new Netflix shows “Free”.

It's not ideal but c'mon, why would they give you both PS4/PS5 versions for free when they've clearly put much time and effort into the upgrade?

By the way to ya'll trolling Sony for this...this is a Square-Enix decision, yell at them lol

If you consider being called a troll who trolls Sony and their fans on a daily basis as a personal insult, perhaps stop doing it?

I guess I just have a hard time understand the difference between the platforms.

I get likes for calling out Microsoft, but I am a troll for calling out Sony.

You should prevent Gaf having the "Sonygaf" nickname, not strengthen it.

Is it really scummy that the last-gen version of Control is on GamePass? PS+ owners get the next-gen version, but GamePass, which is triple the price, makes players buy the next-gen version.

Where's your "we MUST call them out on this grand Injustice" comment for that?

It's just as shitty. I haven't seen the thread, which is the only reason why I didn't call it out.

I called Microsoft out for increasing the price of Xbox Live. Back then I wasn't called a troll.
It doesn't work both ways for some I guess.

If you got more questions for me, PM me.
I've said what needed to be said in the discussion here, and I won't support this type of discussion of yourssame goes for everyone else who has a problem with me. PM me if you think I'm a troll or whatnot.

I've been in too much drama misjudged in the past, and I'm gonna keep it in the past.

Edit: my opinion matter as much or as little as you.

You can't agree or disagree with my posts, and that's fine. But I don't type crap that doesn't make sense or just attacks like a pathetic fanboy, so you got nothing on me at all.

Not being obsessed with something doesn't mean you hate it. There a big difference.
Edit 2: sorry everyone for derailing the thread together with Captain Toad. This discussion makes sense now after I saw his status under his name.

Does this need a separate thread? Most of the people from the PS+ thread are talking about FF7R anyway.

I mean you could get the PS4 version for like $20-30 dollars, and get a free upgrade, still gotta buy yuffie dlc, so you will come out cheaper than just buying the ps5 version.

On the one hand, no free next gen upgrade sucks, but if you are an early adopter like me, your PS4 version will automatically upgrade for free. So that's cool.

The only people this "hurts" is people who have not bought the game and were hoping to get both the game and the next gen upgrade for free. Which, is like, you are still getting a free game. Haha. You are mad about this?

Pretty awesome that they are giving the game for free to PS+ members in the first place. But yes no doubt some people will be mad at them for giving away just a free game and not a free game plus a bunch of extra stuff.

There is no controversy here.

If you previously purchased the game (in other words, gave out money to obtain the game), then you are permitted to get a free PS5 upgrade.

If you did not previously purchase the game, then you can get a "free" copy of the PS4 version through PS Plus, which is also playable on PS5. If you like what you're playing and want the actual PS5 version, then you can give out some money to obtain it (bonus: it won't be bound to your PS Plus subscription).

The end result for PS5 owners is the same either way.

That's a good one for me,I've been thinking about getting this for a while as I've not got much to play right now,but I'm not sure I'll like it.....the recent PS5 upgrade news made me think that I'll just wait and perhaps get that version down the road....now I get to try it out anyway.

The only awkward part about this is the timing. Since Square basically announced the free upgrade and then the base game was announced for Ps+ like the next day.
Other than that I don't see the issue, it's still a great game IMO. If the lack of Ps5 upgrade is a dealbreaker for you then just buy it?

Those bastards at Sony and the upgrade options and limitations of this game they are neither developing nor publishing!!!

How how much will it cost to upgrade the plus remake to the ps5 version?

I sold my copy and have zero interest in playing it again even if it’s free (it’s a bad game). but I would play it again if there was some enhancements but not at 60$.

I read online disco elyism was supposed to be for March, would prefer that to remake.

The_Mike The_Mike wow you are stupid. Remake is a 3rd party game has nothing to Sony tbh. SE are selling an upgraded version and Sony has paid them for PS4 remake to be on plus.

Get a grip you clown.

The PS5 version comes with the Yuffie expansion and is $70. If you own or buy the PS4 version, you get the upgrade PS5 Version for free, but the expansion will be sold separately.
Sorry, I mean from the PS+ version of FF7:R. If they stated obviously.

It's free to upgrade, but if you sold your copy you, obviously, have nothing to upgrade.

And I laugh at your "It's a bad game", but I'll play it again comment.

LOL some people must have lost their minds if they think it's bad that they're only giving FF7R PS4 for free on Plus :messenger_tears_of_joy:
The jump in quality Plus is having is pretty much amazing, it was basically just indie games for most of the PS4 gen....now it's kinda back to what it was during the PS3 days and it's great.
And forgive Square Enix if they want to make some money with the PS5 version if you liked the PS4 version so much, it's so mean on their side.

Laugh all you want because you obviously can’t read. I’m asking how much would it cost to upgrade the plus free version to the ps5 version.

They butchered the story with anime tier kingdom hearts nonsense. The combat was fun so yeah I would play it again.

If you're a FF fan you would've already bought the remake on PS4. People are getting the game FOR FREE, yes you don't get the extra stuff but if you're a fan of the series you should've bought the PS4 version anyways.
You can still buy the PS4 one and get the free upgrade (if you want the extra stuff).

They don't give the free PS5 update for the PS+ users, but is there going to be any paid option for the PS+ users to get the patch other than buying the full game for PS5? Since the paid DLC is for the PS5 version only, I assume it doesn't include the PS5 patch.

So I assume that if there is going to be some kind of paid upgrade it isn't going to be the Yuffie DLC.
It's full price for the remaster?
If you bought the game for PS4, they will give you the PS5 version of the game for free.

What they will include in PSN is the PS4 version but capped to don't get the PS5 version free upgrade. Like almost every other PS4 game, the PS+ version will be playable on PS5 but without the PS5 specific improvements.

Then there's a Yuffie DLC for the PS5 version only.

We don't know if there is going to be an option for the PS+ users to upgrade to the PS5 versions without paying the full price. Maybe there's a special version of the Yuffie DLC for the PS+ users that also includes the PS5 upgrade, but they didn't announce it until now so probably doesn't exist.

if you have the PS+ version of FFVIIR then you simply do not own FFVIIR..you would have to buy it..

if you can get FFVIIR PS4 version on the cheap, then upgarde it for free and then buy the yuffie pack seperately that would be your cheapest option for the full ps5 intergrade version.

Plus has been great value for money already. I wanted to buy Control UE for PS5 day one since GP added the vanilla version I didn't care about. It was added to Plus. Destruction allstars I play on and off, and its decent. Soulstorm will be day one on Plus as well, which I would also have bought day one.

FFVII I already beat and I don't care, but its still the game for plus subscribers. Its not even out on other platforms yet (and it seems its in high demand) and Plus owners can grab it. The next-gen version is still quite a ways off.

How many tears did you shed when I said it was a bad game?

I think this is more than fair. This game never would’ve been on PlayStation plus any other way. People can always wait for a sale for the next GEN version while playing the PS4 version.

I’ve got plenty of issues with Sony, but this is not one of them

FF7R and to a lesser extent FF13 are the misunderstood genius’ of the series. Both are phenomenal. I still have my physical copy, so I won’t be adding the PS+ version to my library. Obviously. But I’ll be preordering the PS5 DLC soon as they let us.

I managed to pick up a copy of the FF7 Remake for $20 AUD in preparation for the PS5 version as was waiting for that version to play anyway. But my luck would be that Sony says in June, Hey surprise, you can have the upgrade for free now. Just like how they screwed me over with buying Control Ultimate Edition digitally before next gen was released and just given anyway on PS Plus.

Well, for "free" i can give it a try after that demo that showed me why I just don't care about FF after X.

Where I live we have a saying: "For free even an injection in the forehead."

I understand that if I buy the PS4 version (physical copy) I'll be able to upgrade to the PS5 version.

But is there anyway to buy a physical PS5 version and have access to the additional content?

buy it on ps4 for 40 and save 30 you know the ps5 game is going to be 70
