So this is... ALL destiny but instead of first person, with gears of war third person shooter gameplay?

Super early impressions (PS5)

- I dunno if it is my display or the demo but something is off with the gamma/brightness. Blacks are crushed and at the same time areas of the imaged look washed out
- Visually it looks like a decent last gen game, nothing more or less (aleady knew this going in, but just saying)
- haven't noticed framerate dips in gameplay yet, but the cutscenes are a bit choppy
- Audio sounds great on my headphones. Sounds really good.

Ok impressions so far is:
It runs pretty good on PC but some optimization is need.

Having to load a cutscenes at 30 fps everytime you wanna talk to someone isn't good.

The. VA is really good in the game, props to the male mc he's quite the charmer (no homo)

Controls kinda like gears of war

It's always online and that sucks

That's about it so far. I'm only 10 minutes in.

the game is, as expected, absolute mediocrity of the highest order.
the controls on controller are shit, on mouse it's serviceable at best, it runs like absolute ass on my 1070oc while looking not half as good as Gears 5 which runs like a dream.

the gameplay is gears of war mixed with Destiny and not a single original idea in sight. even the inventory menu looks like a direct copy paste of Destiny.

absolutely dogshit, will probably die within 6 months.
it won't be as much of a disaster as BioWare's try at a Destiny clone, but it won't fair much better either.

this game looked mediocre when it was revealed, it sounded mediocre whenever they talked about it and now playing it it is confirmed mediocre to the point where I woild rather play a really bad but at least interesting game. nothing in this game is really bad, just copy/pasted from other games with not a single original concept and that is worse than having a badly made game with interesting mechanics or concepts

I agree with all your points although I would say the graphics look like a decent 360 game, very unimpressive.
I HATE the look of the character I made. Why can't I make one that looks like Shira instead of a female man-woman?
I really like the premise of colonizing a virgin planet, I'm a sucker for anything SciFi.
Gameplay is decent, similat to Gears and I like Gears.

Absolutely HATE that I have to make a stupid Square account, sign in and let Square have a shit ton of my personal info to play this. No interest in online or co-op, should be optional.

the controls on controller are shit,
I wasn't sure if it was just me or if the aiming felt a bit off. I lowered the sensitivity a notch and it is better but still not perfect

Yeah, gameplay is decent. The combat is pretty good for me so far. I am enjoying Trickster. Up close and personal with a shotty, slowing enemies, teleporting behind them + shotgun to the face.

Looting seems alright so far. Pretty straightforward

Gonna play some more. As of right now I am probably in on day one, but we will see

It's the same on my 1X...at least on the intro vid. Very dark for some reason
Wonder if it is an HDR issue on the console version. Maybe game isnt outputting proper HDR?

There is a setting for HDR brightness. Mine was defaulted to 15 out of 60.
I turned it up to 25 to see if that makes it any better

Edit: Cutscenes are still very dark even after that

Generic as fuck... the camera in the cinematics shakes like a dying bitch...

This screams Alpha Protocol and Binary Domain B tier game all over the place... I don't see anybody buying this for more than $20 unless you're starving for a coop game.

Absolute crap. I’m sorry but it’s all too familiar formula. When are we ever going to get a different experience, it’s all much the same. Incredibly disappointed yet again.
The audio is shockingly poor, voice acting garbage and sometimes the characters look more plastic than a barbie doll.

That is what I was trying to think of. Gears of War movement REALLY comes through in the beat-to-beat gameplay.

Ufff, it's too serious, right? I mean, how can I take seriously what a futuristic cowboy with sunglasses says? I thought it would be like Bulletstorm but these dialogs try to hard to be deep and serious, and my feeling has been: this smells AC Valhalla script level.

Hopped onto my backup PC to test it out there

3700x and OC'd 3060 Ti at 1440p/Ultra

Walking into the center of the town, by the vendors tanks the FPS into the 40s but outside of that, in normal traversal, I am averaging 100+ FPS . In the first few combat encounters I was averaging 80 fps. Did have one crash when I first got to the settlement.

I will do some 4k/Ultra tests on my 3080 build later.

That Thermal Bomb pyromancer skill packs quite a punch. Between Pyro and Trickster, I prefer trickster so far.

Also, comparing the PC version to my PS5 and it is clear to me that the console version's color/HDR/gamma is bugged. It just isn't right. Much better on PC.

I wonder if you'll ever be able to Mix and match skills. I doubt it but it would open up builds; maybe for a sequel or DLC.

I went Pyromancer and am definitely going to have to learn to keep my distance like it says. Getting swarmed and not being able to focus fire on the enemy you have tagged with a debuff is rough.

A mixed bag, but overall disappointing.

The game looks (mostly) average. Like an early PS4 game. The 60fps is nice and, in certain moments, especially during weather effects, the game takes off. Overall however, it’s no stunner. The art design is painfully generic.

Gunplay is ok, at best. This is the main worry. I’m not sensing a core gameplay loop that is addictive. Absolutely *has* to have adaptive trigger support. Criminal that this isn’t included at the moment.

Skills are ok.

Every now and then the game can feel very fun and you think there might be something here, but as an initial impression, it’s a 5 or 6 out of 10.

One other thing - getting in and out of cover is way too clunky.

Yeah, with Trickster I just run at everyone and shoot them in the face. Tried that with Pyro and got ganked lol. Adjusted to usin cover more with Pyro and starting owning again. Definitely different style between the two.

Gonna try the Techno next

tried to play with Xim Apex on PS5 , but controls are strange, for some strange reason :/

graphics are nice in the tropics, but overall is lacking, very often very dull.
overall i liked it but i would like it more if controls were better.

i will try the game on PC,

Just played on the Series S:

The good:

It runs at 60 fps with no apparent drops.

Gameplay is good, fast/fluid and the abilities are fun.

Close to none jaggies.

The bad:

The story bored me to tears.

The character creation is limited.

Too many cut-scenes (they are skippable).

The art goes from ok to bad.

Absolutely nothing new and original, everything already made on the PS360 gen.... Other than the graphics, it does feel like a game from that gen.

Overall it seems like an ok game, I don't know why but it reminded me of Red Faction Armageddon, a game that I enjoyed but in no way was remarkable and praise worth.

I might play it when it comes on Game Pass or is on sale for less than 15 usd.

The game is better than I expected. What I don't like is that the cinematics are at 30 fps and the motion blur cannot be deactivated and is visually tiring. Otherwise the game has a good future.

I have no fucking clue why people say this plays average. Playing as a Trickster you are literally playing DMC Style crazy, just teleporting all over the place and one shoting enemies. Yeah the prologue is slow, but after you get the powers it becomes fun.
For me it’s the fact that it’s very late to the party and does NOTHING better than Division, Warframe, Destiny, Anthem (traversal) and so many others. If you going to release a game similar to games of the same genre, you better damn we’ll best them!

Division was so half-assed / bulletspongey
Warframe is not dubbed as not pay to win, and free to play but the missions and lore is ok
Anthem was fucking horrible
Destiny got a pass cause of Bungie and it has zero story

This is a competent story, with neat skills and diverse classes, and lots of enemy variety, and it doesn't force me to play 5 hour raids with bullshit drops.
