[Eurogamer] People Can Fly details Outriders' expansive demo ahead of next week's launch

Strange. Watching another buddy of mine stream it now with a i7-7700k and 1080ti maxed out and it hasn't dipped below 60FPS. Only issue he's run into was being booted around the time the demo opened to the public. Apparently people are still having issues getting in, and he's in it just fine, lol.

Regarding server issues, I don't think it's fair to say that's an excuse. People Can Fly have never really done another title like this. It's pretty ambitious for them. Well, and Square has limited experience. So, I think it's fair to expect online related issues. It's probably exactly why they're offering the demo at all. As always, demos are a great way for devs to pin point potential issues and engage in proper stress testing.

With Blizzard it was a sillier experience IMO since they had a ton of experience before D3's launch. But it still shat the bed, and hard.

I think it's fair to expect connection issues and limit expectations with all network driven titles day 1. Demos as well. If there are none or hardly any, great! Less disappointment, haha.
One of the drawbacks of PC gaming. Runs like crap for me, buttery smooth for someone else.

Excellent points there and I should have considered PCF's background and them being new to this kind of game. Yeah, server issues are to be expected but for me it was more sprinkling some salt on the poor performance wound. I did see they announced they're ramping up server capacity so kudos to them for being on top of things.

Dude, tell me about it. My first experience working on PC titles was a nightmare, lol. I mean, I always figured performance issues would be insane because of the sheer amount of unique possibilities out there. But I still wasn't prepared for it, haha. You got a sick setup though! I hope you see a turn around soon enough!

Yeah, I'm not entirely on the bandwagon for the game, but it does look pretty cool! They definitely seem to be working pretty quickly too, so that should always be applauded.

Really looking forward to this game. But will stay away from the demo, read impressions and go in when full release is available.
This makes no sense. If you did this with Anthem and the Avengers game, you'd be ass out of $60 on a shit game.

Actually, I did it with both Anthem and Avengers.

And didn't get disappointed like you sounds like.
So makes ton of sense for me.

Its one of the most generic, do everything that other games already do better type games ive played in awhile.

It just feels like a pile of gaming trends from the last 5 or 6 years lumped together.I wanted to like it...but nah
Yeah, that's basically what it looks like to me overall. Shooting mechanics and combat look cool. But really, this game doesn't do anything new that we haven't seen before. It just mashes a bunch of stuff we know very well together. Will work for some I'm sure. But I don't think it's for me. It's just another AAA title that's just....more of the same for the most part. Same picture, some "different" things added, and an alternate coat of paint.

To each their own! Do what you feel is right for you. There are people that loved both, others, not so much at all. I feel like that will be the case with Outriders through and through.

I mean it looks good. But I feel this will flop terribly, there is little to no hype surrounding it so far.

Shame, PeopleCanFly is a solid studio. They deserve better.

Absolutely. It's all about managing expectations. We've all been part of some strange games coming out the last year's, but not all games fit all.

I do applaud them for putting out a demo though, so people can make choices based on experience and not review or second hand information.

NGL, I'm filing hard for this game. Love the story and gameplay loop. Aiming feels floaty, but my muscle memory keeps telling me it's Gears.

Gave the demo another go after I saw this tip.

PC players, depending on your gpu: add -dx12 to the launch options in Steam and it made a world of difference in performance.

Now that I was able to play without it turning into a slideshow, the combat is fun. I'm not blown away but fun enough once I got a few powers, slapped on a Shotgun and played it run and gun. I dig the gore and it is satisfying flying through the air Vanguard charging to explode goons in a cloud of red jelly.

I like that the world is a shithole and everyone is a piece of garbage. The story and voice acting feels like an 80s/90s B action movie. Once I put that in my mind, I enjoyed those parts a bit more. Loot seems pretty fun and it looks like the higher tier items get some out there bonuses and synergize with your skills.

Worth a full purchase? No idea for me. I want to know how long the game actually is before I invest time. Seems like it'd be best with a few people but none of my friends who still play games are into this kind of stuff.

Maybe they shouldnt have spent so much budget into CGI trailers... because damn the demo looks and feels so disconnected from all the marketing
