and here we go! This flick is somehow the "spiritual successor" to Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Reminds me of the New Vegas expansion pack DLC where you had to break into a hidden area full of riches and fucking tough Zombie creatures.

Awesome idea for a movie, trailer looks like a nice blend of action and goofy weirdness.

Day 1!

Justice League I have casual interest in but this is what I REALLY wanna see, haven't had a quality zombie flick in a few years so I'm eager to see this.

Looks kinda low budget compared to what Snyder usually does and looking at wiki it's the budget of his earlier films.
I'm worried the majority of the film will be a bunch of talking heads in an enclosed space.

I mean he made DoD with a 26 million budget and its still to this day one of the best zombie movies ever made.
You don't need a huge budget to make a good zombie movie you need creativity and the guy has tons of it.

I agree with this, Dawn of the Dead 2004 is probably his best film but the trailer is trying to make it look like it has a huge scope by showing all the outside stuff.

I'll be annoyed if:
A: Majority of the film is inside as it'll make the trailer misleading (obviously nothing new with Hollywood of course).
B: There will be a lot of outside stuff but it will look poor and cheap.

My concern stems from the fact that it's a Netflix film.

Zombie movies have to be kinda low-budgety in order to appease the zombie fans.

I second that.
Dawn of the Dead (2004) was a well made remake. Never felt that it needed a huge-ass budget to tell its story. Good zombie flicks need story, plot, character arcs and this kind of stuff.

I was in the theatres for that flick back in 2004. And from the get-go, the film went all in. People were still entering the theatre (since they were latecomers), they were still looking to find their seats, mind you, and all the crazy zombie action was going down. Their reaction was like "Shiiit bruh, what the f*ck? We hardly got seated man..." .
Thusly, when I found out that Zack Snyder is going to do another zombie flick, I said I'm all in for this.

After watching the trailer a couple of times I think the only thing I´m not digging is the zombie makeup. It looks rather poor compared to DoD.

Thanks for pointing that out, I think this is one of the reasons why it looks cheap to me. Walking Dead is doing better zombies with a smaller budget.

Hyped! I rewatched the opening of Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead on Youtube. While this new film looks more focused on action, I hope it has some scenes that would give me the same feeling that Dawn did.

Zombie makeup is truly bad, it shouldn't be that bad even if you're going for large numbers of zombies on screen.

I'm hoping this is just some early outbreak zombies and as the movie progresses they start to rot. This was the case in the remake.

Doesn't the first shot of Las Vegas suggest that the story takes place a long time after the outbreak has started? Or is it simply unrealistic and silly like RE Extinction in showing how quickly the sand from the desert will cover the city once it's been abandoned?

I guess but those first shots might be from the intro of the movie since there seems to be some kind of bomb raid going on unless they just spoiled the ending.

Imo he made one of the best Zombie flicks ever with the Dawn remake, everything about it was absolutely perfect especially the opening with that feeling of dread seeping through it, after watching the trailer for this... :-( I hope to be proved wrong as I've waited a long time for Snyder to do another zombie flick, was hoping he'd do a Day of the Dead remake tbh

Day of the Dead Remake was done by Steve Miner and it was pants...
Something fresh and new, like the Army of the Dead, should be expected from Zack Snyder.

Why???? I mean that seriously and genuinely. What in Day of the Dead was worth reliving? The zombie that learned to use a cassette player? Hanging out in underground tunnels the whole movie? It is a trash film IMO and should be forgotten.

As for this movie here. Trailer showed me nothing really. Could be amazing, could be the aftermath of Chipotle induced diarrhea. The casting of Batista leads me to believe in the later splatter.... but I’ll reserve judgment.

I liked the whole Scientists Vs Military and all stuck underground in a bunker, I'd scrap the fucking learning zombie tbh

Fair enough. Beyond those high level concepts, the rest should be scrapped in a remake. If "remaking" I personally would completely ignore the film beyond Title and chronological placement in the " Dead universe". Just make it a completely new take on the "day after" Dawn of the Dead. And stay as far away as one can from the other turd in the series Land of the Dead.

Christ how fucking bad was Land of the Dead, that movie just confirmed what a fucking hack Romero was and how his status as the Zombie master was simply borne from Night & Dawn, both good movies but both have aged fucking terribly but man Land... so many things wrong with it I wouldn't even know where to start, i had to watch it over 2-3 sittings as i kept yelling at the screen and thinking WTF!?

Speaking of Day of the Dead, there was actually another little known remake of it from 2018 called 'Day of the Dead: Bloodlines -
Its not brilliant or anyhting, but its way better than the awful 2008 remake, and follows the story of the orig DOTD much more closely.
Its worth a watch.
