• Breakpoint: PS5 resolution mode - 1440p/30

• Series S only has one mode 1440p/30

• Performance mode: PS5: 1080p/60. Series X 1440p/60.
• All have dynamic resolution, both PS5/Series X stick close to top bounds in resolution mode.
• Series X can drop to 1296p in Performance mode but generally always higher resolution than PS5.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint: PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S + The Division 2 PS5 Fixed!​

In this Ubisoft double-bill, we check out Ghost Recon Breakpoint's push onto next-gen systems with a new 60fps mode, while also looking into The Division 2's latest patch. For The Division 2 we'd previously seen the PS5 version missing key visual features - SSR and volumetric fog - the good news being that they're now fully reinstated. As for Breakpoint we have a clear success in delivering 60fps gameplay to consoles, a trend that's fast building from Ubisoft's stable of developer, as Tom reports.


Division 2 Updated:
- SSR and Volumetric fog are back after the initial upgrade broke them, now these are on same level as Series X
- Load times are similar to before. In original update PS5 loaded in 16 seconds, in this patch PS5 loads in 15 seconds. Series X loads in about 6 seconds
- PS5 renders at 1080p (lowest) to 1800p (highest)
- PS5 still has framerate advantage over Series X, albeit at lower resolution (on average)
- He had an issue with screen tearing and FPS dips to 40s in one fight, but restarting the PS5 fixed it

Ghost Recon Breakpoint - Resolution Mode:
30 FPS cap on all three consoles - locked 30 on XsX and PS5, no real drops to report on
- Game is in BC mode, like Division 2
- On PS5's resolution mode you get dynamic 1440p, seems to just inherit Pro's settings in this mode
- Series X resolution mode gets you dynamic 4k, no major drops under 4k that Tom noticed
- Series S runs at dynamic 1440p
- Most visual settings identical between the XsX and PS5
- Texture filtering boosted on Series X due to hardware level enhancements, advantage over PS5 in this regard

Ghost Recon Breakpoint: Performance Mode (NG only, mode added in a NG patch)
Mode aims for locked 60 fps
- PS5 is dynamic 1080p

- Changes AO method, otherwise similar visual setup as before
- Series X is 1440p dynamic (lowest found to be 1296p)

- 60 fps near flawless on PS5 on XsX
- Did found a case where assaulting a certain compound dropped to low 50 on PS5, some other random drops that were hard to repeat
- Same on XsX, occasional random dips with no clear cause, but otherwise smooth 60, drops are hard to repeat

LMAO, 4 TF console = 10.28 TF console according to Breakpoint devs?
Well, this again indicates that PS5 can only use PS4 Pro size memory pool in BC games. Even the series s has more memory available for games than PS4 pro.

Btw, power consumption profiles while playing these games would be nice. I really expect the PS5 not to be running at it's max power consumption (of arround 210W).

With a bit of effort, I'm sure they could have bumped up the resolution/frame-rate on PS5. The hardware is massively underutilized here.

The PS5 has clear BC limitations compared to Series, does it not? Obviously the PS5 is not being fully utilized but isn't that just the crux of its BC implementation? Days Gone got a 60fps boost (nothing else, right?) Ghost got a 60 FPS patch (nothing else, right?)

This clearly isn't the best PS5 patch, as the load times aren't anywhere near as improved as they are on Series, and Ubi gonna Ubi.

If we ever get an analysis thread that doesn't have a single Anotherone.gif in it, I will gift everyone in the thread a month of Gold. But, yeah, someone needs to get in touch with Khaled's people and let him know that he is the new GAF mascot.

I will also give Foxhound gold if he just once gives me credit in the OP for providing summary (as I would do automatically for anyone else in my threads), but I can only fight one battle at a time. If he's gonna monopolize DF threads at least put some effort and consideration into them. Just IMO, of course.

(I am, admittedly a salty ass scrub, so OP take no offense to this. Just imagine I am an old man yelling at clouds)
