It depends if you judge Indie games as shovelware, because itts not the same situation as Steam with the endless asset flips and scam games, its proper well regarded Indies on Gamepass.

Incorrectamundo. Your experience is just that: yours. Just as my experience is mine. I replay games, rewatch movies, and love going back to listen to my music library over the years. I've never subscribed to the idea of "one-and-done" media consumption, or this idea that a great experience loses its value after the first time. I find it detrimental to cultural enrichment, to say nothing of truly being able to grasp what you've seen, heard, read, or played.
Regarding digital games: Those games also have to be able to BE downloaded. The games I have on my discs, I can access them whenever I choose, whether a server is online or not. This is part of why I feel the online era, the age of adding content via patches and even just including codes in your "complete editions", to be harmful to gaming overall, to say nothing of the all-digital push. These companies are all chipping away at actual ownership, and it's frustrating as heck to me to watch people whiz that away in the name of... not having to get off their butts to swap a disc every few hours.
But hey... it is what it is, I guess.

Don't know if it's the best thing ever, but it has really changed the way I play and consume games in general. It made me discover new games and genres I wouldn't buy otherwise, and I generally play one or two games out of it to completion every month, so it's worth it.
I think it's impossible to watch Netflix programs faster than they produce it, especially now that they buy stuff from TV / old catalogs / other networks.

It's good. Could be better, no need for hyperbole though. It's not the greatest thing ever, and it's not for everyone. I cancelled my sub. Just prefer buying games I like over renting them. I'll sub again to try out some games but for the most part I'll just buy what I like.

Gamepass is the worst thing to happen to gaming. It will cause an industry crash, cause endless mobile type games, I don't like renting games or being told what to play. Of course its great you can get it for $1 for 3 years. It will never be good but I want Sony to do something similar and then it will be amazing.

Best thing to happen to gaming is a bit of a Stretch Armstrong.
Sure the 3 months of Ultimate for £1 offer I took advantage of to play some Yakuza Remastered Collection on PC is great, but judging by the library its not worth the £10.99 a month afterwards for me.

Anytime I'm interested in a game on GP, I get it for free on Epic Store or Indie Humble or PS Plus or Gold or some random bundle/sale a few weeks or months later.
It happened to Blair Witch, Vampyr, Yakuza and the latest Control. PS+ version was the ultimate so even better. Rage 2 is free on Epic store soon.

I want to agree, but Phil didn't buy Sega or revive Quake yet. He has me sidelined over here wanting to play JRPGs and I "keep asking" like a good little shit poster, but it's been over a dozen years since Lost Odyssey.
All Gamepass is to me is a service I pay for that gives away lackluster 1st party releases, the late-port RPGs I already bought during the generation-long drought, and games on PC that are randomly missing achievement features compared to Steam. Bonus love for how the Xbox apps tend to turn on the game bar during windows updates and completely destroy performance, when the updates themselves aren't already breaking the OS entirely and forcing repairs or reinstalls.

I just wish the pc app was better. It's got the look. But the constant signing in to your Microsoft's accounts is weird. I also have firewall and multiplayer issues a decent amount of the time. Still love the value

Yeah and Series S should do better on this front, its more powerful than PS4 Pro and on a lot of fronts more powerful than One X as well (CPU, SSD), there is no reason for it to run One S versions.

Game Pass is cool and everything, but I am not a big fan of essentially 'renting' games, and losing access when your subscription is up. I much prefer actually owning the games because I can take breaks without feeling like I'm wasting my money. It'll always be there to play.

It is not up to me to say if it is the best thing that has ever happened to gaming, but I feel it is the best thing that has happened to me as a gamer. I've been gaming for more than 30 years, but only in the last three years I have discovered fantastic games and even whole genres that I never bothered to try before.

I like it and use it, but I honestly don't want it to be too successful and put Microsoft in a position of power when it comes to what games get made and do well.
Imagine if you could have played "every single one of those games" while spending only 45 bucks (let's say for 3 months) instead of the 100 times more that it has taken you to buy all those 100 games (as you claim) at the retail price of (for simplification purposes) 40 buck a game. You would have spent 100 times less and obtained the same value minus just the game boxes in your attic. So that's what the article is talking about.
And to say it doesn't bring anything new to you when every future 1st party release is coming out for it and an unknown number of 3rd parties, makes me want to ask you if you can see the future.
