Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont in GoT) Cast as Ellie in HBO's The Last of Us

I want to laugh, but then I realize I'd be laughing along idiot soyboys who ban anyone who imply their idiot leaf-collecting minigame for furries is somehow superior.

Wait there's a LOU movie in the works?

Weren't the games already cinematic enough?
Limited tv series.

druckmann is finally getting the job he wanted. To make a tv show/film. can’t stand the guy but he beat Kojima to it lol. Both them desperately want to work on Tv but only good enough for games.

They have said they're making the show for people who have not played the game. All the millions of people who watch shows but don't play games.

Its an HBO show.
Achtually :geek: it’s a Sony pictures/ PlayStation Production show. HBO are just organising, funding and distributing.

it pisses me off when people just slap “it’s a hbo show!!” on stuff. look at His Dark Materials….really that’s a BBC show produced and filmed in the UK but Americans are all like “it’s made by hbo!!” No… they are part funding and distributing/marketing it in America (don’t even have HBO in the uk).

Again at worst, those were decent. HBO has tons of original content. I've been a subscriber for many years and I genuinely can't think of something that was just straight up a dumpster fire which some people here think TLOU is going to end up being.

The showrunner is the guy who made chernobyl and the director is some dude who won awards at Cannes. I am 100% certain this adaptation will be entertaining at the very least.

Carnivale was kind of a dumpster fire. Interesting premise though, but badly executed.

The Boys is a pretty decent Sony show that happens to play on Amazon.

Cobra Kai is another decent Sony show that happens to play on Netflix.

Better Call Saul etc etc

This show will win an Emmy and TLOU will be cemented as the greatest video game franchise of all time.

Likely could. That is a award winning cast, solid studio, solid backing with HBO. I wouldn't be shocked that a bunch of non-gamers fall in love with the show and the show becomes bigger then the game lol

Look at Walking Dead, I've read the series for years, but I know people who only watch the show and I'd argue they are bigger fans of the show, then I am of the graphic novels.

Yeah Walking Dead holds a special place in my heart lmao.. Been watching the show since the Pilot aired in 2010.. Never read a page of the comics.

What I hope they do with this show is somehow tie the story into the eventual TLOU 3. End a season with a cliffhanger, and then play it in TLOU 3.

GOAT shit. Would be monumental

Don't see the point of this tv show at all tbh. But good choice. The kid was great in GOT.. staring daggers at everyone.

That would be insane. The timing would need to be perfect as we know how games can get delayed.

Even MOOOORRE cinematic. Druckmann finally doing what he always wanted to do

Christ I detest with all myself how much Druck takes himself so seriously. He literally devasted the story in the sequel with this cult of the emotions. Stranley all the life, without him TLOU is become a tragicomedy; a pity is no more in ND.

I don't see her as Ellie, personally I would've picked an older, more established actress like Jessica Barden, even if the creators of the show would have to make her look younger.

Barden damn near 30 though. Maybe they want Ramsey cause she can grow into the role as she gets older throughout seasons.

Did people really think she was good in GoT? She felt very Mary Sue like to me. Just saying badass lines with an heroic death.

Well she doesn't really look the part but that's what makeup is for and she can act and has experience which is hard to find on such very young actors, she also plays guitar and sings pretty well dunno if that matters but it's a plus i think.

Personally after seeing her in this sci-fi short movie i can see it working out

I think she did a great job. They wrote her like that in GoT, so consider the subject matter for The Last Of Us.

Cobra Kai and Better Call Saul are amazing shows. Cobra Kai was started by youtube of all places though (whats crazy is they make fun of woke shit on the show and say things that would get you banned from youtube, but its fine on the show..lol) Better call saul is basically breaking bad prequel and its a fun watch.

If this is just about the first tlou, i will check it out when it hits netflix/amazon prime, not going to get hbo again for 1 show.

I love how some put pictures of actors that look like Ellie/Joel and say thats a much better fit. How the fck would you know, for you its only based on the looks.
I think they want new audience (not only gamers) and a lot of people (of that new HBO audience) wont even know who Joel/Ellie is. In the end its all about good acting, being able to deliver on that part.

Is she actually good?
I've only seen her in GoT and her character was the worst, altho that wasn't really her fault moreso the writers.

If she got selected out of all the candidates, then it probably means she's the best fit. I don't really care if she looks similar to Ellie or not.

Making it your mission to choose an actor that looks as close to the original character is kinda pointless if the performance isn't good.

It’s like someone put ellie in a microwave let it crisp.
And this new actress is what you get.

she better be extra gay or i will go to twitters

I don't know. I've seen her in a couple of things. While she was fine in GoT, the other things I've seen her in like His Dark Materials and the Worst Witch on Netflix (I have kids. I swear), she seemed less like she was acting and more like she was just reading lines.

I also just don't really care. Not sure why I'm commenting here.
I think we can all agree on that.
