I love how every casting choice almost ever, is rot with "what that's a terrible choice" but for this one, the other game board is terrified to say they don't like the choice lol.
Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, "WTF HE'S A TAD TOO SMALL AND HIS ARMS LOOK WEAK" a completely different race swapped Joel, "Wow absolutely flawless". It must be weird being in this weird terrified of everything world where you are scared to speak out because 'Big Brother' is watching to cancel you.

Always weird when they cast like this when the original character is already crystallized in the mind to look like a grizzled old white dude. These people have to keep subverting expectations I guess.
Loved him to death in Luke Cage so I’m sure his performance will be great. Just disappointing for some that might have been looking for a 1:1 interpretation from the games to the TV show.

Would be great casting. The need to have a character be a certain race in stories that aren't about race should be a relic of a bygone age, left in the dust.
That said I'm suspect of the source. Don't know a thing about it, and "has been offered the role" is not typically the kind of thing that becomes newsworthy. At a minimum, it's this outlet getting their industry terminology wrong...

Off the top of my head... maybe Ethan Hawke if he bulked up. He's Texan and old enough. Idk.

Black lead watchman and bat girl shows completely bombed out. We’re talking 60-90 percent ratings collapse over like the first 2 episodes. Spider man miles morales sold 70 percent less than the 2018 version. Honestly don't really mind the casting choice TOO much, cause I love Ali as an actor. It's just so hard to detach their probable reasoning from all of it, seems more provocateur than actual choice. But most likely this isn't even accurate, I don't really believe an Oscar winning actor would do this kind of show. But, we'll see I guess.

I always thought Josh Brolin would be the perfect casting for Joel. He's an excellent actor, pretty grizzled looking, and the perfect age. If he bulks up a bit more I think he'd nail it.

Theres got to be some decent actors out there willing to do HBO shows who look like Joel. Hollywood A-list actors probably wont bother because they got films to do, but HBO shows skews to lesser name actors which are great and not even household names.
