I'm still waiting for anyone to give me a compelling reason they should acquire Kojima Productions beyond "It's Kojima" or "MGS". Cuz Death Stranding was absolutely NOT it.

Maybe if you saw it through an objective lens rather than your narrow subjective opinion you'd might have a different stance. It's about his longstanding working relationship with Sony and his franchises being tied to Playstation. That's where the majority of his audience lies and that's why him and his studio is a great fit for SIE. What you think about Death Stranding means absolutely nothing in the grander scheme of things.

I'd rather they spend capital on acquiring studios that make games I'd care to play than in locking down a name for the sake of nostalgia.

Sony should set their sights on From Software, Bluepoint, Housemarque and Kojima Productions. All of them are great fit for Worldwide Studios, with close working relations to Sony and strong connections to Playstation.

They're not, at least not publicly yet if ever. I think Sony will watch their Returnal game if it makes good sales then they might go for the acquisition like they did with Insomniac. Bluepoint is the weird one though that they didn't get them yet. It's like staying as boyfriend and girlfriend and have grandchildren and still not married.

Sony has close ties but they are not a Sony Studio, neither is BluePoint or Koji Pro.

Sony could buy these studios easily so far they don´t seem interested in that path.

Maybe they are gearing for something huge and will let these smaller devs remain independent.

He's got 2, maybe 3 games left in him.

If I'm Sony, I'm spending that cash on a Western studio who understands the world market better.

Pointless. Bluepoint too is pointless.

They add nothing valuable to PlayStation, if Sony are going out to buy, they need to go for major IP's and something that gives them an edge in Japan and undercuts Gamepass....

Capcom, Square or Sega.... companies that can stop content coming to Gamepass and also own IP that can be made exclusive to give an edge in Japan...like Monster Hunter and Street Fighter etc.
