They've reworked the hell out of Mass Effect 1 both in visuals and gameplay, improved textures and models for the whole trilogy, 4K and 60 fps with HDR support + all DLC

Mass Effect games arent like a tv series, they are like movies: have defining story archs with begining, middle and conclusion.
And regarding Ray Tracing: these games use Unreal Engine 3, which doesnt support RT. Implementing it to the engine would be a huge task (dont even know if possible), but even if possible, they would have to relit the whole trilogy from the ground up.

Did any remaster in the history of mankind offered a link between games of the same trilogy? Huge technical requirements aside, it would be a bad idea from a storytelling point. You don't see Lord of the Rings Collections with the option to watch every movie linked together.

So because it’s such a ’huge task’ they just shouldn’t bother? This is a cheap as bones cash in and because consumers will buy it EA will continue releasing crap like this. Consumers should hold them to a higher standard, but they won’t.
I think my problem is that it is a remaster. I personally believe most people wanted a full remake, but a full remake is an expensive long term investment and requires the devs to truly respect the franchise its history and lineage.
This is not enough to make me want to pay full price for the same game I’ve played before. I don’t believe the ai up scaled textures can properly compare to my rose tinted nostalgia memories so I’m going to stay away and keep my memories intact.

I know how a cheap cash in remaster looks like. EA did this with Burnout Paradise. 1080p 30 fps, and nothing more. Now THAT was lazy, not this.

Not, it's about money and scope. Remaking 3 games of that size with today's tech would require huge amounts of budget and dev time. 3 years of dev time for each entry, easily.
For a franchise that sold poorly (Andromeda) and received bad scores in its last entry? EA execs would be insane to greenlight this.
I'm a huge fan, and I'm into a lot of ME groups, and a lot of people are happy with how the remaster is shaping up.
This is much better than the upgrade to 4k and locked 30 fps that I was expecting with no other benefits.
I'm honestly sad that you wont be able to enjoy it for what it is.

I haven't actually done a playthrough of the games since 2013. I was about to embark on a modded run of the trilogy last year but then this was announced.
Still think I put in too many hundreds of hours before that to have forgotten anything but let's see.

Remember when the lead story writer was showing off his "white people tears" mug on twitter? Or the artists saying they were proud of making their women look non-binary as it made the game more inclusive?
I honestly can't blame people for not trusting this remaster, the camel toe and ass shots are not important to the game at all, but you would have to be very naive to think that's the extent of their "changes",

Nah you nerds are thinking way too much into this. Even when I played it back when it launched I found it cringe af to have the camera focus on the ass when you're having a serious dialogue. It was stupid back then and it's stupid now. If they were censoring the game they'd have to remove the outfits and remodel a lot of female characters which they are not. Go play the classic or go on pornhub if you're that horny for a second of some ugly 3d ass.

I don't think this can be considered full price, because you're getting three games for the price of one, and a bunch of DLC that cost more than the three games is also included. Not to mention games are more in the range of $70 nowadays.
It might not be great value for the ones that already played the trilogy, but it is for everyone else, and it's still ok for the ones that love the first ME more than the other ones.

That was a romance that was included in ME2 until it was pulled at the last minute because the higher ups were concerned Fox News was going to do another stupid panel on the game. The romance was written, the dialogue exists. They literally did not add 1 new line of dialogue or 1 cut quests to the whole "Legendary Remaster". Cash grabbing bastards.

Being an arsehole with Sheperd was one of the best parts of the orig trilogy imo, and toning down the Renegade stuff will be a no go for me, i'll just stick with the orig games.

i hope they didnt tone down mass effect 1’s sex scenes. I mean its not crazy, but it was definitely more “revealing” than anything in 2 or 3, not as revealing as andromeda or dragon age inquisition though.

Gaming in general has become the breeding ground of compliance with "woke" demands. Anything that is remotely close to being "woke" is immediately criticized, whether it's warranted or not.
To me, the games are much more valuable than whether I can see Miranda's ass or not. But I do understand the argument that she was designed to be genetically perfect and that being sexually attractive is part of her as a character. One can argue that changing this somehow undermines part of her character. I don't agree, but, I understand the concern. It makes one wonder what else was changed. For one, I would be mad if they toned down the sexual scene in ME1 just because Fox was whining based on lies...
Context always remains important, but, it's also important to pick your battles. The last thing this franchise needs is another controversy, and especially about something as trivial as being able to see the fictional butt of a fictional character. So in this case, it's a whatever for me. I don't care if they changed the camera angles.

It's just crazy to me than it only took 10 years for the far left to become the religious far right. Back in 2010 Bioware was scared shitless of Fox News. They pulled Jack's romance for female Shepard right before lunch and made the sex scenes way tamer. Now they don't give a damn about Fox News and the religious puritans, now they're scared of Twitter and Kotaku.

This is such a stupid change. It's a game where you are literally supposed to decide on a character to romantically pursue. Nothing wrong with a butt shot - obviously Shepherd would notice her ass and you are playing as Shepherd. This is nothing but the extremely weird and unhealthy modern trend in gaming that heterosexuality (from the male POV) is evil. I'm sure somewhere in this trilogy there is a clear shot of a mans' muscles/chest, and they did nothing to change that.
