Im with you until i checked back on MGS4 again

man the graphics look pretty dated today

a simple retexture and sharpening are just not good enough

Need a remake for that ( a faithfull remake and dont change the game)

mgs1-4 in one package for ps5 and im good
I played it for the first time in 2018 when I finally got a PS3 and I don't think it looks dated at all. Making a full remake would be pointless. Maybe they should upgrade the graphics a little bit to make it look closer to the 2005 trailer:

Lastly, the other day, I saw an interpretation of The Big Shell with ray-tracing applied and it made a drastic difference. So even with small, modern tweaks, there is a lot they could do to improve these games, without a drastic overhaul.
Hey! I'm gonna need a link for that, pal!!

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Who wants to see fucking MGS remakes come on, give us some fresh games.
Fresh games come and go like a fart in the wind.
That said, I'm all for fresh games that are groundbreaking.
That don't usually happen.
So a Remake of something like MGS no idiot would say no to

It could use a remaster. Mg 1-2especially and mgs 1-3 would need a remake with fox engine hopefully

finish mgsv's story and roll it intot he beginning of metal gear 1 remake, then do metal gear 2 remake, then worry about mgs1-3, and 4 last.

Here is a great MGS4 comparison:

I'm not sure if I like that old color filter but Snake's model looked much better before.

there were actually 3 designs for Old Snake. The one often forgotten is the 2006 redesign.

I much prefer the earlier "anime-ish" look to Snake and Meryl than release versions.

Robin atkin downes/Kazuhira miller will play the
fake

I wonder if this is about the remake or just a cast reunion? Josh Keaton and Lori Alan are there so it might not be about MGS1 remake.

This is very, VERY interesting. Something is definitely going on. It may not be a PS5-exclusive BluePoint remake game, but it's something. A Sony-backed MGS film is also coming, so Sony would be involved in that "something", I'd reckon.

Either way, all of this gives credence to the rumored PS5-exclusive remake.

I can see a move because Sony has a dedicated movie company. As far as a remake or anything game related I will believe it when I see it. Konami is the worst troll game company on the planet and I refuse to believe any rumors solely because of them.

I really want MGS and Silent Hill remakes to be real but then I keep thinking Konami and don't believe it.

If true, I have complete faith in Bluepoint to remake any MGS game based off it's history of MGS remasters and then it's most recent remake with Demon's Souls. They obviously are aware of what makes these old games such classics and preserves them, while improving the graphics to look up to date.

I disagree completely. FOX Engine would do wonders with this. So even if you like how the TGS demo looked, I see no reason to argue against it looking BETTER IN THE FOX ENGINE. Its literally nonsensical.

So no, I don't think think they should aim for something to look like something from 2005 as that just makes no sense, aim to make it look beyond that using the tech that exist today in 4k, raytracing etc. Maybe you mean art direction or something.

Agreed. I think they will do a great job as the team has worked on MGS before. They will likely use the FOX Engine or their own engine. Hoping for Kojima involvement or simply Sony outright buying the IP. Konami would literally be the thing hindering a lot of this tbh.

I can't imagine how bad Hayter sounds doing Snake now. Just make him speak in his normal voice please, lol.

We have heard this for a minute. So it's true, just as Sotc Remake and Demon Souls was true, just as Silent Hill and the Castlevania will be proven to be true. Sony and Konami has been tight for so long. Sony should just buy all Konami IP's already, they have the talent to reboot all of the high profile titles from them.
Wonder if Bluepoint will eventually grow tired of being the video game developer version of a cover band.
Not every developer excels at creating new IP's or having a successful game. Bluepoint excels in remastery of games and are at the top of their game there. Not every body has the same role in life. Devs who have been at it for decades have never put out such polished games as Bluepoint has, seasoned devs who have released remasters have released many botched jobs for $60, not Bluepoint. Let's praise a good developer. They are excellent in what they do and there are many great games I'd like to see remade.

Yup. It still holds up so well, it’s a little low res, and it has that last gen filter. But it looks fantastic, and that Camo suit, changing to whatever pattern you want it to, that shit just still blows my mind.

I miss MGO :(

No not solid, we want a metal gear 1 and 2 remake!
It's really hard to think that in that context, they will not going to make what the mass media wants.

Because I think that the huge mass media boost it was produced by the first MGS.
(even if it doesn't start the Metal Gear franchise, a lot of people they actually consider this game as the beginning, in the end)

Metal Gear Solid should just stay dead.

It became an awful series with 4. 5 and PW were just awful. The story became nonsense and then actually ended, but then felt the need to stupidly retcon and answer things needlessly. Probably because Kojima lost all interest and is maybe a hack... But either way, he never found someone suitable to really carry the series. The games need a refresh, but they also need someone with an actual personality and unique vision. That will actually come and be creative with the series. Not be afraid to break free from an oppressive canon.

Remakes are boring for this series. The old ones are perfectly playable and look fine. As talented as Bluepoint is, they also miss some of the aesthetics in all of their Japanese based games. They aren't going to capture Shinkawa's art are just Kojima's team's aesthetics.

It's dead. The creator moved on and was done without even before. And this was a series that had a real personal touch. If you want to make more MGS games, you need to find a team that is willing to really push ahead with MGS. Not be worried about annoying fans crying about canon, not be tied to doing everything MGS has done because honestly what even is that? You need a team that really wants to make a NEW MGS game. Good luck with that.

I'll take whatever Bluepoint does because I'd like to play MGS on modern hardware, but I won't be excited. The series is dead.

It's okay to be wrong bro. In no way does MGS1 look fine and perfectly playable. The controls and graphics are extremely outdated.

MGS4 story was the worst out of all though so at least we agree on something.

If they remake metal gear and gear 2 and MGS ...... all for ps5?! Ground up. That would be nuts and would be very hard to do imo.

This is awesome.

It would be so cool if they remake Metal Gear 1&2 and Metal Gear Solid.

But MGS1 remake with that cast will be enough.
I'm just so happy to have them and David Hayter back as Solid Snake. He better do Solid Snake voice and not Big Boss/Old Snake.

What?

I mean. I love MGS1, and I can’t still play it and enjoy playing it. But that’s like saying Jurassic Park or Lord of the Rings should just stay on VHS instead of 4K UHD Blu-ray.

No denying, MGS1 is a huge barrier for entry for many many people who are new to MGS. Hell I had friends I tried to get into MGS back in the 360 days and they just couldn’t make it through MGS1 because of the dated nature of it.

Great way to bring more people into the fold and enjoy the games. Even if they don’t make it through the entire franchise...

Also as a fan, I’d loved to see MGS updated with modern graphics. MGS2 on PS5 hardware from the ground up like Demon Souls? Holy shit. Mouth watering.

Your analogy is pretty bad. That 4k Blu ray of Jurassic Park isn't a remake. It's a higher visual fidelity of the same movie. It's aesthetic and other visual qualities are not changed from how they always were. Your analogy would make sense if you were talking about a cleaned-up version of the PS1 game. Which I mean there's a PC version for one and for 2-3, the HD collection. For me, I just want MGS1-3(4 I guess as well) cleaned up and available on modern systems.

And I'm confused about what you want here. Do you want Bluepoint to just do the "new coat" type of remake? Ok that will be nice, but it will lose some of the original aesthetic value and tone. Demon Souls looks great, but I also believe it's lost something. But it will still play like MGS1 which may turn off some. Or do you want them to go further and actually make a modern stealth game with the MGS1 blueprint? Again, that would be nice, but also possibly a worse reimagining than Twin Snakes.

I think it looks fine and is perfectly playable. The graphics add to the vibe of the game.
