Halp! I can't find an Xbox Series X!

I told my son I would get him a Series X as his main Christmas gift and I still can't find one. He's saying at this point he'll even take an Xbox Series S instead, like some kind of impatient heathen. Those aren't the values I raised him with. And I refuse to pay any kind of scalper markup. Tips? Maybe a friendly soul could post in this thread when they notice a big retailer got a shipment and has XSXs in stock?

I just checked these with no luck (https://www.tomsguide.com/news/where-to-buy-xbox-series-x-stock):
Thanks in advance guys!

Definitely follow someone like Wario64 on Twitter (for stock alerts). I think you’d have better luck trying somewhere like Costco when they *do* get stock in since they limit to members only, and 1 console per account. I wouldn’t even bother trying the other places unless you get an alert RIGHT when it’s posted and you’re lightning quick, but you’ll be fighting botnets with scripts that will wipe out stock in literal seconds most places.

I just followed Wario 64 on Twitter. I don't have a Costco account. We don't have those in my area.

Antoline drops are quite frequent. Also, follow Linus Wilson and other Stock alert accounts on Twitter.

Don’t expect it to be easy. Although I was able to cart many XsX consoles while I was hunting PS5s and it was relatively easier compared to PS5s. You should get one soon.

They are being sold, you just have to be willing to pay the asking price.

If you lived by me, I'd offer you mine. I got one at launch, and I'm not sure why. I haven't found a reason to use it still.

Just buy him an Xbox one x and play the dumb parent if he notices .

You just have to get lucky or pay almost double on ebay. By chance I happened to look at Gamestop and they had one for sale so I went for it and it is sitting on my entertainment center.

I know they aren't any easier to find, but if you find a PS5 sooner, there are tons of people trying to trade their XSX for a PS5. Sometimes even offering a little cash with the trade.

They keep trickling in here in Australia. I'm sure it's the same or it'll be very soon. Just always keep an eye.

Had trouble as well. Ended up buying one for $600 off Craigslist on an ad that went up 2 minutes prior to searching.

$50 extra (after tax) was worth it in my book, after all the hassle trying to find one 🥴😭

You sure it's for your son and not for you? I have doubts, lol. Especially considering $500 is a lot of scratch, I wouldn't pay more than $200 or so for a kids Xmas present. Kids never appreciate things to take care of them especially if young. My kids used my ps3 and ps4, I bought them psps and 3ds when they were still young. Half the time they would end up missing or broken. It wasn't till later that the son started respecting things and the daughter decided music and makeup was more for her.

No way was I buying one kid a console and then having the other expect some $500 worth of gifts too, plus back then had the ex wife's gifts to deal with too. I guess if you are loaded sure, but even then I'd want them to earn it.

Things were easier when I was a kid and the cost of a console was $100 to 150 and came with 2 controllers, 2 games and a light gun.

If real young you could get em a Xbox 360 and call it a day. I'm sure he's not going to care if barney and friends or SpongeBob is in 4k or not.

I bought a $1000 laptop for my daughter for Christmas. Lots of us spend big money on gifts.

I tripped over a huge pile of 1TB memory cards at Bestbuy.
No shortage of accessories, controllers, docks.
Are there any factories actually making consoles?
I'm pretty sure I've only seen cell phones and wireless earbuds rolling off assembly lines these past few months.

Your best bet will be to follow a Twitter account focusing on in stock alerts and hope for the best. I've been trying to track down a PS5 in Canada since launch and I'm slowly losing my mind :messenger_grinning:
This is really great advice, OP. Find all the twitter accounts that handle stock alerts. Time isn't on your side, so make sure you are ready when the alerts come in and luck will be on your side.

Twitter Dude named Dee Batch was directly responsible for sending out a stock alert that allowed me to get my hands on a Series X. I’ll be eternally grateful to said Twitter Dude.

Console supply has been horrible in general. Just yesterday I read that apparently Sony will only do one more small shipment in January of which most units will directly go to open pre-orders and/or as replacements for faulty units.

By now I have to say I just don't even care any more. Especially because devs seem to see this and one after the other are delaying their next gen games. I can fully understand them. No use releasing anything in this climate. There are way to little next gen consoles around and many old gen owners will wait until they can grab and play the games on next gen - by which time they'll most likely already be on sale.

Nobody is winning here, only scalpers. Sony and Microsoft better get that production going.

Here you go:

Shipping from here will cost you though.
Is there any technical difference between that console and one you could buy in North America? It would be cool if once you connected it online it would just download the updated based on your location. Maybe MS should reallocate more stock to the Americas.

No difference AFAIK other than the plug type on the power cord along with the languages in the box and in the manual (English, Arabic, and French tends to be the common standard here). We use 3 pin plugs here (same as the UK) so you would either need to use an adapter or just buy a compatible US power cord if you were to import.

I was a fool for not picking one up on launch day when there was still stock of the Series X here in Argentina.

Since then I've been not able to get a PS5 Digital Edition neither a Series X.

If you want one desperately just pay the scalp price. It'll drive you mad checking multiple sites multiple times. Otherwise just wait a couple of months. There's not a major difference in the games yet anyway so if you have an xbox one ain't no biggy.

Did you buy the xsx then?

Oh no... I just like to cart it as some sort of personal challenge. I’m actually pretty good at doing it I would say. I even managed to do it again this morning on Antonline. I always remove it so someone who actually wants it can have it.

Just import one from Japan ;)

Half-joking. The system's region-free right? If you can spare the cash and wait a bit on delivery time just spend it on a Japanese model, set the region, set it up and you're good to go.

I haven't found one either, and I have been keeping a look out since launch. I didn't promise any to my kids or anything that would not be wise. But I want the Series X.

Same. Been tryna get one for my bday at the end of the month, don't think I will to be honest.

Crazy, there's been almost no new stock all month in the UK outside of Game providing some trash bundles.

all jokes aside. tell your kid TO WAIT. don't waste your money on the Series S. he'll be so much happier he waited for the X. inventory should be stepping up here in the next couple of weeks. it will be worth it long term to have a more powerful box, assuming you are willing to buy it for him, than to have a quick "fix" that he'll regret. i work in the industry in some capacity so i was lucky to skip some lines in a sense to get my hands on these. so far, actually digging the ps5 more. who knows how it will play out over time though! best to have both to cover all your bases!
