That's assuming word of mouth and reception didn't kill its legs
I'm assuming those, yes

Day one sales are usualy huge for big releases, and they had 8M already with preorders. Its safe to assume that they have sold 2M at least, even after all the word of mouth.

Contrary to many, I'm not a CDPR fan or anything, I just want to know about this game sales due to curiosity. Since this was such a monumental event for gaming in general.

Is Germany still stuck in post WW2 mode where they censor everything that has a drop of blood?
No.
This has been getting better for a few years now. They even allow swastikas now, because games are finally acknowledged as a form of art. Unless your game is something like a concentration camp simulator. But stuff like Wolfenstein is now okay.

I am pretty sure that something like The Last of Us Part II would not have passed the
rating process of the USK 10 years ago. But it did in 2020. I am already curious if Dying Light 2 will pass the rating process of the USK. Otherwise Techland needs to censor it. Which won't happen since they have not done it with Dying Light 1 either. Which means: No open sales and the game would land on "Liste A" of the "Index".

Wow, didn't realize the German games market was big enough to support million sellers. Cool stuff.

I though GoT sold more than TLOU2 by the other thread lol

I mean TLOU2 has not legs at all... I'm no sure how it could go from 200k in June to 500k in December.

If the UK is any indication then it’s legs aren’t good.

Sony and Nintendo first party games both doing really well in Germany. That's good to see.
Nintendo and CDPR games only had retail physical unit sales counted in that sales award while others had included both physical and digital sales.

Animal Crossing NH sold over 1M and CP2077 sold over 500K with physical sales alone.

UK, Germany, and France are the big three of the EU region.

Oh, I know, I just didn't think they hit million units for games outside of maybe the occasional FIFA.

Cyberpunk and Valhalla posting equal numbers to TLOUII is interesting; they've been available for one month and two months respectively, while TLOUII has had six. It'll be interesting to see if Cyberpunk's legs hold out with the bad press. I suspect it'll die out, with a possible resurgence once the patches clean it up. But yeah, nothings beating Animal Crossing - still cannot believe the numbers on that thing. Right game at the right time, it seems.

Agreed. I think that is really hard to do with a single player title. That community moves on very quickly and seeing it already off the UK top charts

https://www.pushsquare.com/news/202..._of_the_top_10_in_quiet_week_for_games_retail

The fact that AC Valhalla is in the top 5 and Cyberpunk 2077 is not even in the top 10 despite AC coming out first is a bit surprising. I don't see it making it back as I believe a lot of the damage has been done and those that are waiting for those patches are likely die hards that already own the game, those on the fence and decided to not buy based on bugs might not also be likely to even buy it new when those patches even come out.

I personally don't even buy most of my games new if I'm not getting them at launch. If i didn't like it enough to get it day 1, most times I won't like it enough to pay full price later or something, so I just look for it used. I suspect many single player gamers will do that with this game. Which is completely understandable considering the situation. This year will have some heavy hitters and I don't know if some free DLC and patches will be enough.

Yes, it's very rare or maybe nearly impossible for any game other than FIFA or COD to hit 1M in retail sales for those markets.

Animal Crossing NH is truly a special case here and without any doubt the best selling game of 2020 worldwide.
