What's the difference? As far as I know, you need to be always online in every version of Hitman III to save progress and so on (which sucks BTW).

Will be interesting to see if you could make a cloud version of one specific game profitable. The old problem of one-time income vs. recurrent costs.

I wanted more ports to the Switch. I guess this is what I get. Apparently I used one of my monkey’s paw wishes.

not like this GIF

well some people believe that this is the way Nintendo ensures that the base Switch is not left behind and that games like this will get native ports on the Switch Pro...

but who knows. it woukd he one way to do it

All other versions you play the game locally, here the Switch is just streaming the game from a server over the net (think Xcloud or Stadia).

This is an excellent idea and would make Switch probably the only console you need if more companies launched cloud versions of their games.
the disclaimer worries me. you buy it but they can turn off the servers anytime they want with only6 months left

Most digital purchases are yours to keep so long as you don't lose the files, streaming is a bit different. Hitman 1 & 2 will allow you to play offline, not sure about 3, so, as long as you have the files you can continue to play those on other consoles indefinitely.

Same as every other digital purchase - if you plan to hold to something then buy physical. Of course those discs will start to rot sooner or later.
Not the same. You can still play PT if you have downloaded it, even if is not available on the store anymore and you can't download it again. You can't play Hitman anymore if they shut down servers (they should let you to play it on other devices).
Some smartphone games were revoked from your device even when regularly purchased, but with refunds.

Not interested if it doesn’t have a physical/digital release , I know if they could get Doom Eternal to run they could probably make this game to run.
Tried streaming and its OK but not the way I want to play my games.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Nintendo taking a swing at cloud gaming, third person shooters is great you cannnot not like this, and sends a message to their gaming crowds “we’re more than kiddie games” take the leap Nintendo fans.

A game like Hitman that just needs to be online to save progress to a server can work on a crappy internet connection. They just occasionally phone home to upload stuff, can survive interruptions w/o interrupting gameplay... can have poor latency and that does not matter. If your 2 roommates start streaming Netflix, your Hitman game isn't going to stop working.

Hell even games like Destiny that actually have the other players online inside your game can work on a mediocre connection, and aren't effected as much by being in a house with others. P2P starts to suck, but the rest of the game can work fine.

Cloud hosted games require a constant stream of data. If that stream is interrupted, your game is interrupted.. if lag is introduced, your game stops controlling well.. there is nothing the game can do to stop it. A client-side game can handle those interruptions behind the scenes as long as they aren't too bad, and can mostly hide it from you.

And while a typical always online game can work fine on 100ms lag, a cloud hosted game is going to feel like shit.

This might be a big part of our future; but right now? Loooooads of people just aren't even going to be able to play a Cloud hosted game.. loooaddds of people would be able to play it, but it'll kinda suck to control.

Not to mention the Switch's core feature is portability. They need to warn people strongly that this is not going to work well even on most 5G connections, and will barely work if you are moving (on a train, on a bus, in a car, etc.)

Now granted, it's just one version.. those people have the option to buy a copy on a different system.

But there's a ton of differences.

I think this is smart. Who knew Nintendo would be a cloud gaming innovation leader. Our HW can't play your game, here is a solution.
