Bluepoint to remake several METAL GEAR titles exclusively for PS5 due to Sony/Konami partnership | FF7R for PS5 & PC soon

Rumor comes from the PlayStation Studios OT over at ResetEra.

KatharsisT states that the large-scale partnership between Sony and Konami hinted by MarsipanRumpan (the Bluepoint acquisition and From Software PS5 exclusive dude) back in December of last year it's real and that Bluepoing Games, who she says are getting acquired as we speak, is now currently hard at work on several MGS remakes exclusively for PlayStation 5 as part of a long term plan to bring the series to the platform.

She also states that Final Fantay 7 Remake will come to PS5 and PC later this year - interestingly there is no mention of XOne/Series versions. Navtra, who successfully leaked the slate of both PS5 events from last year, says that FF7R could be a paid upgrade on PS5.

KatharsisT is the guy who posted this on December 3rd:

So, I think I need to clarify things a little bit.

Toyama directed Silent Hill. The game is still on track and is fine. Japan Studio are still developing it. And I think there's no need to attack me because someone is leaving the studio, even if it's the game director doesn't mean the game doesn't exist or Halo Infinite just got cancelled twice. I think a lot of people here need to calm down to every announcement they hear and stop being extremists. Your hearts will thank me.

And don't worry, the game is fine, if Toyama leaves now, it means it's in a healthy situation.

Now, I'm gonna stay away until next week.

See you at The Game Awards.

I’m gonna remain cautious but if it’s true it might be the reason to buy a PS5.

Not a Metal Gear Solid fan but wow this would be good for those fans of the series with it coming to PS5 and I imagine Bluepoint will do an amazing job with the remake.

RedGamingTech also leaked this a few months ago after some verfied ResetEra member mentioned MGS 1 and 2 are coming to PC

RGT stated that MGS 1 is getting a full remake (like what Blupoint did with Demon Souls) and it's "going to blow minds". He also stated that it will be exclusive to PS5 but will also eventually come to PC. I know he left out a lot of details because he didn't want to get his sources into trouble. Wether you believe him or not (he's reliable IMO) quite a few other people have also been saying similar things in recent months so it's interesting.

I would also add that he mentioned MSG 2,3,4 will not be getting the remake treatment according to his source but they will be remastered. He also mentioned that Bloodborne is getting a next-gen remaster and will be coming to PC.

This has been a rumor for quite some time along with the DeS rumor that ran along side it (that ended up being true).

There may be some truthy nuggets to the not so cryptic tweet that everyone parsed from.

Nothing about this seems implausible, but the prospect of all of this happening in 2021 feels too good to be true. I can only imagine a Bluepoint acquisition and maybe a remake of MGS or Silent Hill reboot, but not both.

If this is true its sad because these games should be multiplat.
Sony money hatting the industry is bad for gamers.
Sony should just let their amazing 1st party do the talking. There's no reason for them to money hat multiplats.
If it is true there are few remakes worth having the exclusive for more than MGS. It will sell systems.

I don't really trust the source, but I actually thing it would be awesome if true. Bluepoint has done incredible work in their remakes, and the early Metal Gear games, as awesome as they are, would be amazing if polished up...

"Multiplats"

MGS games are more PlayStation games than multiplatform games, this is not as if Sony moneyhatted Battlefield or Assassin's Creed.

Also, without Sony paying the bills and providing a studio these remakes wouldn't exist.

MGS games are Multiplat and the original Metal Gear first launched on a Micro Soft Japanese console.
Then the series went on Nintendo consoles, eventually making there way to PS followed by XB consoles.
Bottom line the series is a multiplat franchise.

Pretty cool, but man what would really get me fired up is if they remade Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2. The MSX games. Of course, Kojima would need to be involved.

That would be enough to get me to buy a PS5.
