Timed Exclusive isn't it?Returnal wtf !
I see your point but if it's a fall game this time or releasing closer to fall, they have plenty of time to show us gameplayCus we've seen like no behind the scenes motion cap footage. No gameplay either. Not even an official title. I just don't see it happening tbh unless it's a shorter game
Excited for the rest, but once again, there's absolutely zero chance God of War 2 releases this year. Feel free to call me out when it does and I'll eat crow while enjoying playing the game, but it's not happening. Spring 2022 at a minimum.
Yes, no panties shot in this astronaut suit! WTF are they thinking? So what are the other 2 potential 10 mill sellers?
I'm deleting my acc, if this gets 10 mill sales.
People are more likely to buy a game if they liked the previous one in the series... GoW 1 to 3 are some of my fav games of all time, I'm more lukewarm about 2018, while if I was to sit at the TV and put GoW 3 chances are I would go to bed in the middle of the night and be way too tired to work tomorrow. Why would their personal taste impact whether the games sell 10 million?
I can see all of their big 2021 hitters releasing on time but if anything is delayed it'll be God of War RagnorakI think Ratchet is the only one of the big hitters that will definitely make 2021, but I'm okay with that because that's the one I'm most looking forward too. I'll almost certainly buy GOW (although I haven't played beyond an hour of the first one yet despite two aborted attempts) because I'll get caught up in the hype, but I don't see any way it's out this year. Horizon can suck it, hated the first one, and I'm more of an arcade than sim racer fan. Forza Horizon over Forza/GT for me.
I literally can't wait for when both MS and Sony are delivering regular content - it's going to be a golden age. If Nintendo can stop the endless cash ins and get back to actually making games then there will be too much to play.
Adding in Returnal and whatever Guilty Gear Strive is still leaves me with just Ratchet to look forward to personally. But that's okay, wasn't expecting much first party I wanted to play from either next gen console before 2022. Ratchet and Halo this year, then the floodgates open.I can see all of their big 2021 hitters releasing on time but if anything is delayed it'll be God of War Ragnorak
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Returnal
Horizon Forbidden West
Guilty Gear Strive
Gran Turismo 7
Still a strong lineup
Yep 2022 is gonna be a fun one....you also have to factor in Nintendo wanting everyone to RE-buy all their switch library when the switch pro releasesAdding in Returnal and whatever Guilty Gear Strive is still leaves me with just Ratchet to look forward to personally. But that's okay, wasn't expecting much first party I wanted to play from either next gen console before 2022. Ratchet and Halo this year, then the floodgates open.
No, Sony 1st party game. Full exclusive.Timed Exclusive isn't it?
Yeah PS5 will probably just have Native 4K 30 / Dynamic 4K 60 options slapped onto it.If it is also a PS4 game (which likely is) then 3.5 years is enough. They already built all the ground work and Cory said a lot of the story for part 2 was already written when first part came out.
Sony obviously has a lot of games planned for 2022-2024 alsoMS has just as many if not more big exclusives coming. So is it really as much of an advantage as it was in prior generations?
They launched with a few great games and Returnal is coming in MarchBut when? It’s a bit disappointing to me that nothing big is really lined up to come out for a few months. Like I thought Ratchet and Clank would be far closer to launch than it apparently is.
I may be pessimistic but I don't see Horizon or GoW releasing this year.
I have a feeling that was all marketing hype and am waiting for the inevitable delayed announcement.
Sure but that's just one person's opinion. For example, I have 0 interest in Gran Turismo but it would be foolish of me to use my personal taste to argue that the game won't be a multimillion seller.People are more likely to buy a game if they liked the previous one in the series... at boldI'm expecting Returnal (March), Kena: Bridge of Spirits (April/timed), Deathloop (May/timed), Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (June), Gran Turismo 7 (September) and Ghostwire Tokyo (October/timed) for 2021.
Not expecting God of War Ragnarok at all whatsoever this year or Horizon II: Forbidden West but I can see it getting a release date and then getting delayed to early 2022.
I don't see them waiting until June to release their first 1st party game of the year.
I see God of War and Horizon being released from late September to early November, they will prioritize their 1st party big sellers over timed 3rd party Microsoft exclusives giving both GoW and Horizon enough time to sell games and consoles before the Black Friday & Holiday period.
I'd say February Destructon All Stars, March Ratchet, April Guilty Gear Strive & Kena, May Deathloop, first week of June Returnal, August GT7 (they had great sales with TLOU or Uncharted releasing in summer), September Horizon 2, October God of War, November Ghostwire Tokyo.
at bold
Of course you are.
Do some of you live on a rock or something? Returnal has a release date already. lmao
Returnal isn’t exactly getting me super excited. Demons Souls was good - graphically amazing. Miles Morales was fairly good but didn’t really blow me away. Just thought that R&C was gonna release way earlier considering they put it out there as kinda the big coming launch window game for the system. I just straight up haven’t used my ps5 that much at all since I was done with demons souls. They launched with a few great games and Returnal is coming in March
As a GT fan since the first game, I just automatically assume that GT7 will be delayed. The only question is how long. Yamauchi is like Kojima. He doesn't want to release a game until it's 100% perfect. Which, of course, is not attainable.I can see all of their big 2021 hitters releasing on time but if anything is delayed it'll be God of War Ragnorak
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Returnal
Horizon Forbidden West
Guilty Gear Strive
Gran Turismo 7

No crossgen game has only that. Minimum it will also have super fast loading times, adaptative triggers support, haptic feedback support, 3D audio support, Activities, PSN guides, and better visuals (including better lighting and or raytracing).Yeah PS5 will probably just have Native 4K 30 / Dynamic 4K 60 options slapped onto it.
Sure, neither do I have any interest in GT, never liked them (it's too much of a simulation, they should be more like Wipeout... I assume that would not pass at Polyphony Digital).Sure but that's just one person's opinion. For example, I have 0 interest in Gran Turismo but it would be foolish of me to use my personal taste to argue that the game won't be a multimillion seller.
I think we'll play as the kid in the next game but they won't kill off Kratos yet, that will happen in the third game.Sure, neither do I have any interest in GT, never liked them (it's too much of a simulation, they should be more like Wipeout... I assume that would not pass at Polyphony Digital).
But I do miss the old style God of War, and I hope the kid is not the main character in the next game--but I expect them to kill Kratos early in.
We can't prepare enough for this moment.I think we'll play as the kid in the next game but they won't kill off Kratos yet, that will happen in the third game.
Though of course this is all a guess!
Yes I know that.. I was being a little humorous with my comment. No crossgen game has only that. Minimum it will also have super fast loading times, adaptative triggers support, haptic feedback support, 3D audio support, Activities, PSN guides, and better visuals (including better lighting and or raytracing).
Contrary to popular memes & belief, neither Kojima or Polyphony take a particularly long time to make games. As a GT fan since the first game, I just automatically assume that GT7 will be delayed. Look up the years they shipped games. Its totally normal.
Sure perhaps (idk) but look at Polyphony Digital vs Guerrilla Games. About the same time between games. They do, however, always seem to slip past their original announced release date. At least it feels that way.
Does that stop them from splashing a Xbox Game Studios logo when you start the game on PS5?
This is generally how it is the first few months after a console launch. Even moreso this time with everything that's been going on.But when? It’s a bit disappointing to me that nothing big is really lined up to come out for a few months. Like I thought Ratchet and Clank would be far closer to launch than it apparently is.
2nd Party is a made up and irrelevant termIt isn't debatable: it's a 2nd party game. Housemarque isn't a Sony studio, it's an external, 3rd party independent studio. And Sony is a 1st party. 2nd party games are those where a 1st party hires a 3rd party, external studio to develop a 1st party game for them. As happened in this case.
A game being 2nd doesn't mean Sony bought or is going to buy them. Sony did 2nd party games with Quantic Dream, Ready at Dawn, From Software, That Game Company, Kojipro, Bluepoint and many other independent studios without purchasing them.
If you ask me if it would sense for Sony to buy Bluepoint or Hoursemarque, I'll tell you that yes. If you ask me if Sony purchased or is negotiating a purchase of Housemarque or Bluepoint I'll tell you that no, or at least there are no news about it or even rumors. But we know Sony said they will continue buying companies when makes sense, and that for gaming acquisition they typically buy devs who worked for them in some succesful 2nd party or exclusive games (as happened before with studios like Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Guerrilla or Bend Studio -previously known as Eidetic-) so Housemarque, Kojipro and Bluepoint would be likely to be purchased by them. Specially in the case of Housemarque if Returnal ends getting good enough sales and reviews.
MS has just as many if not more big exclusives coming. So is it really as much of an advantage as it was in prior generations?
No, it's frequently used term as always has been to describe 1st party games developed by 3rd party studios.2nd Party is a made up and irrelevant term
They will require patience because the AAA requires a lot of time to be developed (and generally more with every generation) and when a studio gets purchased also needs some extra time to adapt to the new company, and when purchased sometimes they are working on projects who were multiplatform or even time exclusives for other people.MS has exclusives coming? I could have sworn they were in the business of promises.
As reference, I was curious:Sure perhaps (idk) but look at Polyphony Digital vs Guerrilla Games. About the same time between games.
Gran Tursimo 5 - Nov 2010
Gran Tursimo 6 - Dec 2013

Gran Tursimo 7 - 2021
Killzone 3 - Feb 2011
Killzone Shadowfall - Nov 2013
Horizon Zero Dawn - Feb 2017
Horizon Forbidden West - 2021
See? Polyphony are by no means fast but they're no slower than most devs.
Probably but not on the first start up of the game lolCan't we skip logos on PS5?
As reference, I was curious:
GoW - March 2005
GoW 2 - March 2007
GoW 3 - March 2010
GoW A - March 2013
canned new IP - 2014 (the development of GoW 2018 started this year)
GoW IIIR - July 2015
GoW 2018- April 2018
GoW Ragnarok - 2021
Polyphony had that one big gap and still can’t live it down. Hopefully when they ship this year it will go a long way to finally ending that perception of them.Porting over GoW3 to PS4 doesn't count. So last 10 years...
GoW3 - Mar 2010

Gran Tursimo 6 - Dec 2013
Gran Tursimo Sport - Oct 2017
Gran Tursimo 7 - 2021

Nah it won't change cause people don't care, they just like to pretend to "know" shit and lean into the meme. Same with people claiming Kojima takes long to make his games and many more.Polyphony had that one big gap and still can’t live it down. Hopefully when they ship this year it will go a long way to finally ending that perception of them.

The remaster counts. It isn't a full new game bu required substantial work. In fact, I didn't mention as secondary, external projects Sony Santa Monica also published/mentored several 'indie' games like Journey, Hohokum, Sound Shapes, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Unfinished Swan, Fat Princess and Here They Lie and supported the two GoW PSP games and the GoW collections.Porting over GoW3 to PS4 doesn't count. So last 10 years...
