Note: Only one game per franchise.

1. Sonic 2
2. Skies of Arcadia
3. Yakuza 0
4. Streets of Rage 2
5. Crazy Taxi
6. Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2
7. Shining Force 2
8. Jet Set Radio
9. Nights Into Dreams
10. Shenmue 2
11. Golden Axe
12. Virtua Fighter 2
13. Panzer Dragoon Saga
14. Shinobi 3
15. Super Monkeyball 2
16. Rez
17. Valkyria Chronicles
18. Outrun
19. Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
20. House of the Dead

A surprisingly solid list from WatchMojo, with a good mix of genres, platforms and eras. I suppose Billy Hatcher's inclusion might be a little surprising, but I haven't played it, so can't vouch for its quality (tried to buy it just before Xmas on Ebay, but lost the auction - GameCube games are getting expensive!). Apart from Daytona and/or Sega Rally, I can't think of any glaring omissions.

I haven't watched a WatchMojo video in ages. I didn't even know that they were still around. What happened to the old WatchMojo guy? He had a pretty cool voice.

no Space Harrier
no Shinobi 1
no Phantasy Star 1
no Wonder Boy III
no Daytona USA
no Sega Rally
no Star Wars Arcade or Star Wars Trilogy Arcade
no Bayonetta
no Vanquish

Well they can fuck right off with that list I'll tell you that.

Also placing Shenmue 2 over Shenmue 1 is batshit fucking insane.

Plays with kids toys, in the adult gaming world
That's only a good list if you are completely ignorant of the goldmine of classic Master System/Genesis/Mega Drive games

and man is Skies of Arcadia becoming overrated that isn't even a top ten SEGA RPG and I loved that game

I don't understand this list, what counts as a SEGA game? everything they published or studios owned by SEGA? or both?

Sonic is a strange franchise, it got some solid games but never really produced all-time great games. Sonic 2 is great but the best SEGA game ever? come on, people place it first just because it feels right that Sonic wins a SEGA ranking.

Isn't Relic a part of SEGA? and the Total War team? Crazy Taxi is on there yet Total War: Shogun II is ignored? isn't Atlus associated with SEGA too? Persona 5? I must be missing something here.

What are the ten other RPGs developed and published by SEGA that are better than Skies of Arcadia/Skies of Arcadia Legends?

Overrated, my ass. How many times have we seen Shenmue on people's top three simply because of its incredible attention to detail and great graphics (no offense to Shenmue fans)? A big part of why I love Skies of Arcadia is not just because of its great sense of adventure and charming personalities but also because I cannot think of any other RPG with playable airship battles, exploring a world of floating continents, and an inspiring lead protagonist like Vyse.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Skies of Arcadia had potential to be an ongoing flagship RPG franchise for SEGA, much like how Square Enix and Bandai Namco have Final Fantasy and Tales, respectively. We might have even had played Skies of Arcadia II, if SEGA didn't cancel development of it to focus more on Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love (PS2 and Wii). At the end of the day, Skies of Arcadia was just a really great game that didn't sell well enough for the most part or else development on a sequel would have picked up again afterwards. But at least we got another great game, Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3.

I just think it's cool to see it at #2 on a top list of great SEGA games. Usually it's not talked about as much as other Dreamcast games and other RPGs so I wasn't expecting it.

they included Shining Force 2 and Knights...i'm good with that. Man I wish we could get a remake/remaster of the Shining Force games!!!

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Can't do SEGA justice like that, gotta have like a top 5 per genre at least, lol, and maybe switch titles for series (newer than VF2 games were great too, Shenmue is to me better than 2 but either way top games, etc.).

These guys really sour on lightgun games or what, including HOTD as token to the genre when there's shit like Virtua Cop 2 or Ghost Squad too. Also rail shooters like Zwei/Orta. Also Virtual On was genius.

And racing games as someone noted, no Daytona or Rally series or Outrun 2. Also, Shinobi (1) is still the best Shinobi and Like a Dragon is GOTY and where's Dragon Force and Sakura Wars too?

Yeah clearly Atlus, Creative Assembly games must be considered as Sega Studios especially when people include Streets of Rage 2 or Shinobi 3 in the list.

Koshiro's family who developped SOR2 were not part of Sega Studios... Shining Force is mainly ex Enix staff who didn't stay that long at Sega and Climax.
The team who developed Shinobi 3 was in fact WHITEBOARD, an indy studio Sega just acquired at the time. (it was their first game within Sega).
On the other hand, Creative Assembly is part of Sega studios since... 2005. (15 long years)
So, yup, you can considere Alien Isolation as a full blown Sega game which could easily make the list.
When Re Fantasy will be released, Atlus would be a 10 years old Sega Studio. They even have common projects with the other Sega Studios according to Persona Central... (BREAKING : I'm pretty sure Atlus employees even have sex with people from other Sega Studios, like in any other company ha ha ha 🤑 ;). They all moved in the same building)

About the mojo list:

Golden Axe RODA >>>>>>>>> Golden Axe
Billy/Nights in a top 20 = Yikes
Sonic 3K>>>> Sonic 2 winner = Yikes
Outrun 2 >>>> Outrun
Virtua Fighter 4 >>> VF2
No Atlus, no Creative Assembly >>> Yikes

Decent list though. (but there are too many great Sega gamesgames for a tiny top 20)

Yakuza took over Shenmue, not only among the gamers but also in the press:
Between 2005 and 2015, Shenmue games were usually in the top 3.
Shenmue really needs to come back home (Sega of Japan)

Not a single Sakura Wars game in the top 20 list, makes this list invalidated to me. Not surprising since it’s Watchmojo, one of the worst YouTube channels ever.

Here's the details.

Like I said, you cannot add on the list games outsourced by Sega such as Streets of Rage 2 (Ancient) and then ignore full owned Sega Studios titles like Alien Isolation...

On top of that, Tomoyuki Ito who saved Shinobi 3 in the final month came directly from Data East and programmers (from Megasoft) were helped by Treasure. Takahashi (Shining Force) was from Enix, helped by Climax.
Same for Visual concept and many others.

Old Sega was not a "pure" blood company, that's a fairy tale so stop snubbing Creative Assembly, Atlus games as if they were apart.

Not the worst list but how the fuck is Billy the Hatcher on that list but no Galaxy Force II?

Nights doesn't belong in my opinion.

If anything it should be at number 1, so I'm guessing there's a typo in your post and you missed the word "there" between belong and in. Easy mistake to make bud :messenger_winking_tongue:

Good list though, even if it is missing Sega Rally.

Billy Hatcher for the intro FMV alone justifies it's place on the list.

One game per franchise... Shining Force 2 or 3, both are great so no problem with that. Yeah Sonic 3K deserves a spot but not Adventure...
