Nintendo is rumored to be asking developers to make their games 4K-Ready! Incoming Switch Pro?

Don't know why people think Nvidia should use fancy exotic architectures like Denver cores. This reminds me when people thought Psvita had a shrunken Cell with 4 cores.

For Switch pro or Switch 2, Nvidia will probably use standard ARM cores or something slightly modified. Denver/Carmel are too focused on automotive/AI, they have useless instructions for gaming.

They used big.LITTLE for X1/SWITCH, they will probably use the same approach in the future, maybe 8cores inspired by cellphones.

Anyone else wonder what exactly is “ making your game 4K ready” would entail? Without new dev kits this would be a dumb statement to make. It doesn’t mean anything.
UI and menus.

All UI and menus in Switch games are designed for the portable screen and 720p/1080p resolutions. Running games at 4k with no changes will mean text/menus will be larger than they need to be.

Making them 4k ready will be as simple as adding code to scale the UI down when running in 4k.

It could be so simple...

Nintendo is the only company, with Sony, that has those 1st party games that sell its consoles.

The dispute should be Nintendo VS Sony, leering out Xbox now that they have backstabed the players for a "Xbox Ecosystem"

Nintendo just need to continue the Switch Form factor until the day become dark, and, at the start of a new generation, release a Home console, same price, same specs as the one from Sony, but through Nvidia, with Switch BC in tabletop mode/more gimmicks if u own the 2, and call it a day.

What they can not fucking do AGAIN is releasing an underpowered home console one Gen behind, 2-3 years later than the others.

For fucks sake, if u are not giving the consumer any different, don't dare to enter the same market as sony/Microsoft late, and way worse.

OH, yeah, and I don't expect too much from a Switch 1 revision.

If they just get the game to run at native resolution without dips, that would be glory for me. Indeed, A MUST, IT'S quite the bare minimum.

If they release something more, then, bcs I didn't expect nothing, I would be really glad and surprised.

For a switch 2? The hell anyone knows! Maybe Nvidia will release another ARM chip to the market, and they will just straight pick up that, instead of developing one with Nvidia with some future proofing, adding non released tech like a Dlss3, high portable bandwidth, depurated cloud system working flawless, battery research... and reducing costs, given all the fucking time they have already, and saw the huge success of Switch.

If true I hope they do some work on the UI, adding features and so on to go with it. Even themes hasn’t had anything added since launch!

Series X launch? Xbox has no AAA games since 2003 bro!

That so true, brother! Just kidding XB fans. I actually loved quite a few XB 360 games like all the Dance Central games, which my wife and I still use as our daily exercise, and Forza 3 is one of my favorite driving games of all time.

I bet it will just be a home console, a TV only Switch Pro console box with 4K HDMI out.

$299, slightly faster clocked SoC, and Pro Controller in box instead of joy cons.

Ok that's weird. I thought this was a newer thread. I didn't search for any threads so now I wonder how I came across this?

Well, the new site adds similar threads to a list under whatever thread you're currently looking at. I'm guessing that's what's going, as it seems a lot of several months long dead threads have been reappearing lately.
