[NX Gamer] The Best Graphics/Technology of 2020 - The end of an Era.

NXGamer NXGamer back at it again with another thoughtful upload, detailing his favorite graphics and visual tech from 2020.

With another year over, we come to that time when I allocate some semblance of order to the proceedings.

We were not short of contenders and quality in 2020 but I pick my Top 7 and here I attempt to demonstrate why.

Vid is available at up to 4k/60, pick the right setting to get the most out of it for your display.

List and timestamp:

7. Teardown (1:05)
6. DOOM Eternal (3:58)
5. Ghost of Tsushima (5:40)
4. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (8:48)
3. Demon's Souls (10:54)
2. Spider-Man: Miles Morales (14:11)
1. The Last of Us: Part 2 (16:44)

Interesting list. TLOU2 is gorgeous, no doubt. Can't wait to play my NG+ run whenever the PS5 patch/upgrade drops.

-------------------------------------

NX Gamer's Honorable Mentions (last 5 minutes of the vid):

Astro's Playroom
Cyberpunk 2077
Sackboy
Gears 5 Hivebusters

This list more resembles reality than just choosing teh ‘Raytracing’

He definitely tries to cover all the bases. In the vid he gives each game a few minutes explaining why he chose it.

Good stuff. I would try to post summary of his thoughts for each pick but I am just too lazy :messenger_sunglasses:

(slowly slinks away and bows before my Ray Tracing Overlord Altar)

Some interesting choices but I can see many disagreeing with it. I like how he talks about the tech though.

It is definitely a way different list than the others posted so far, and you're right, it is sure to be "controversial," or debated, or whatever.

But TLOU2 really is gorgeous, no denying it. Impressive what they did on base PS4 hardware.

My list:
1.flight sim
2.spider man mm
3.DS
4.doom eternal
5.Ghost of t...

You have to remember that flight sim has the entire planet on it, that's truly remarkable, the only next gen title, it was since the original Crysis that I wasn't so impressed with gaming tech

Does seem kind of weird that he leaves Cyberpunk out. But when he explains why it makes alot of sense. I thought there wasn't any issues on PC but according to him the game has alot of problems.

Now that's a sane list.......A respectable list.......One not drowned by bias and left field choices.......Choices that don't cause you to roll your eyes in absolute disdain.....Once again NX proves why he is one of the fairest and most balanced tech tubers out there.....

In my opinion, best graphics should flip between LOU2 and Demon Souls.......Ghosts and Miles Morales should always be in top 5 imo....

It definitely has problems on PC but if this is about visuals there's not much problems there. On PC it's like your typical Bethesda launch, better in fact than Fallout 76 (anyone who tells you different is nuts, Fallout 76 TO THIS DAY has immense visual bugs)

No it doesn't. In what world is Cyberpunk on a high-end PC not at least top 2 best looking games out right now? Unless hes talking about on consoles?

Also, lol @ Flight Simulator being only #4

In a world where only consoles exists sadly.

Really surprised Death Stranding or Detroit wasn’t on the list.
Death Stranding was last year... Detroit even before it.

2020 list won’t have them.

Yeah special mentions to Astros and Sackboy, what a joke. Sonygaf will love it because it's framed just like their gaming experience is as Sony console only gamers.
They really looks good on PS5.
Now Minecraft RTX? What a joke.

Looks more like a list of PlayStation games they played with FS2020 thrown in for "balance".
Still missing the best looking PlayStation game.

I mean, is SONY not pushing out amazing looking games? Does he not explain pretty well why they were chosen? Honestly I thought the critiques against SONY on this forum at least gave them how good looking the games are.
There is a vocal anti-Sony crowd in GAF... they play victim and feel injusticed in every thread... it is a small trend but still a trend... they believe all Xbox bad news come from Evil Sony.

In all honesty I have spent over 50 hours in Ghost of Tsushima this past week, playing on my PS5, and while you see where last-gen concessions had to be made (some low quality assets here and there), that game is fucking gorgeous. The colors/contrast just POP so well.

I am glad it is getting some love on some of these lists

I haven't played Sackboy but Astro's Playroom does look REALLY good. I know it might not seem like a graphical showcase but it is a great looking PS5 game.

A much better list for sure than the DF one from Alex "PCMR bullshit" Battaglia. Cyberpunk as #1 didn't make sense at all, it's ugly in a lot of spots and basic NPCs look hideous. Visuals are extremely inconsistent, unlike the games on this list.

And don't start me on Minecraft in a graphics top 10 (nice one ah ah).

Seems like your mileage may vary wildly. I've experienced very few bugs in my 50+ hours with the game on PC, but others seem to have crazy shit happen to them every 5 minutes.

I think that due to his profession he might notice more issues than your average gamer.

Not really seeing what a graphics/framerate analyzer would be doing that would cause him to experience more bugs. Maybe constantly changing settings during a single session? I dunno.

Damn good list

Would've swaped GoT with Cyberpunk and put it at 2nd tho

Cyberpunk is might impressive, even when playing on a PS4.

Everytime I feel like I'm not impressed by it, I look up and damn, the verticality on this game always gets me. So many layers of buildings that reach for the sky, with a lot of reflective windows, gorgeous material work ...

But yeah, TLOU 2 deserves the first spot because its so consistently beautiful. Their animation system is still unmatched.

The game can still manifest shocking pop-in even on a 3090, to say one.

NXGamer is a Sony shill so not surprising
A tech-savvy person likes Sony games? Impossible!

Now Minecraft RTX? What a joke.
Minecraft RTX is one of the most impressive things i've ever seen, though.

Haven’t seen it firsthand, but videos do not paint flattering animation and character modelling. A game lacking visible polish cannot be the best looking game surely. Haven’t watched NX video yet to see what shortcomings he’s identified.
