As far as benchmarks go a difference of 10 fps is what u can expect. I wouldn't bother with it. The game needs patches because even the top cpu's will tank in busy area's to below 60.

My first instinct is a power supply issue. The GPU should have no bearing on how stable the RAM is, unless of course, the power delivery is not enough to feed the RAM anymore.

Are you sure you plugged in both of the power connectors in your graphics card? If one is not plugged in well enough, it might draw additional power from the PCIe slot.

XFX TS Single Rail 650W - its a 80 Plus Gold model.
B450, Ryzen 5 2600, 2x DDR4 8GB, RX6800 (TUF gaming, not a top OC model like STRIX), 3 SATA SSDs, 5 fans, not much more. Do you really think it is not enough?
I will check the cables of course.
Though PSU makes sense if this is the only way you can find connection between the card and ram...

Honestly the LEDs are off 99% of the time, but I already went with and liked Corsair from previous builds and wanted everything easily compatible.

I don't do much overclocking. I just set the voltage a bit higher and let it do its thing. Honestly couldn't even tell you where it landed as I don't really ever monitor it.

I updated the motherboard when I got it, but unless I have issues it'll probably remain there as long as I have it, lol.

It's a very sick machine though. You'll definitely have fun with it!

Yeah the PSU should be enough.... Indeed try to reseat the RAM and see how it goes.
If it doesn't work, try using the Ryzen dRAM calculator and compare your previous timings to it, and see if you can improve things that way. You can also try increasing the ram voltage a bit to see if that helps.

Is it a gaming only PC? What are your performance goals? 4K or 1440/high fps?

If you're aiming at 4K and the PC is just for gaming I'd cut back on CPU budget and put that towards a stronger GPU but otherwise that setup should run really well.

I generally don't tell people to wait to buy anything, but there should be some really good bargains coming up after Christmas where you might be able to get a mobo/cpu combo on the cheap. If you can hold out and aren't married to that mobo you picked out you might save $100 or more waiting for post-Christmas sales. You could put that savings towards the GPU.

Yep, mainly gaming. I thought of grabbing the 5600x instead of the 5800x, but the difference was just 80€ and I don´t mind expending extra on some additional cores. And yeah I would love a better GPU, but that one is the only I was able to grab before all the stock fly away.

I'm currently building a new system from scratch too, but in my case I'm keeping my current one becuse it's a laptop, and who knows when that could come in handy.

If I were you I would just sold your old system, as it's only losing value as time passes.

This is my gut, but I don't see a lot of full systems for sale on eBay. I've been eBaying stuff for years and know how to package a pc properly. I was thinking about listing it for an even grand and then maybe dropping to $800 if it doesn't sell.

Looks like I fixed it.
Not sure what helped though!

1. I swapped the DDR sticks, cleaned them and the sockets with compressed air while doing that
2. re-attached GPU cables
3. un-installed any aura-sync / armory crate shit I had. Which surprised me by the way because the installation failed when I tried to install them. It was messing with the led lighting, I don't think it has anything to do with RAM, but who knows.
4. un-installed the MSI Red Dragon center just to be sure.
5. re-atteched GPU cables once again, just to be sure.
6. Changed XMP to 3200 profile
7. Everything is working.

Now I might be imagining it, but suddenly driving around night city got a lot smoother. It was just a quick test, with sunny weather, but I was driving very fast (rayfield) and FPS wasn't dropping below 40, usually around 50. Which means with the free-sync it is a good experience. Before it was dropping into low 30s ant it was influencing how it felt a lot. Also didn't see any CPU bottlenecking... Will see how it works in more demanding weather and places, but so far so good.


So anyway, thanks - your ideas might have helped me.

Fuck sake. Noticed my temps were climbing on my 6700k/h100iv2 even hitting 100 degrees during certain points.

Took cooler off, 're applied thermal paste cleaned out all my setup, no change. Noticed a bubbling noise coming from the pump so I've ordered a new h100i Pro RGB, should be coming Monday.

I tried 90, 120, 240 fps and haven't felt much difference between it and 60. Some - sure but not enough to justify the horse-power required to play games in those high framerates. Maybe this will change when we'll see more games developed with higher FPS marks.

Nope. I installed windows onto a new M.2 drive for this build and meant to install the old OS SSD into my laptop but got it mixed up with another drive. I didn't notice until my system was already up and running. No issues, I just formatted the drive because I didn't feel like opening up my PC to swap the drives again.

If you open up File Explorer > This PC, then look at all your drives, the icon for your OS drive will be marked with the windows logo. That is your OS drive and no matter how many other drives you put a copy of Windows on, your PC will see that drive as your OS drive. You can plug them in and reformat them for other uses without any worries.

Decided to say screw it and and proceed and, yeah I was overthinking it like crazy. Can't get much easier than this.

Had an "oh shit" moment after the first boot though. Initially it worked fine. I put the side panels back on and plugged it in again. Black screen. I don't know or want to know what happened but checking my connections fixed it. Never fun though.

Long story short though: I have a nice extra 2TB of SATA storage in the most ludicrous pc I've ever built.

Kind of fell into this build by accident due to the shortages of 3080s.

I now have a liquid-cooled 10900K and 3090 combo with 32GB of 3000 RAM, 2TB M2 storage, 2TB SATA SSD storage and 2TB platter storage.

I decided to order another 32GB of RAM just to make this thing extra stupid.

• 3800x - £288.98, which was £10 cheaper than the 3700x @ Time of purchase. Not sure the 5600x is going to be available in the near future at mrsp.
• 16GB vengeance - £65.99
• 1TB 970 evo plus - £155
• cx750m - £80 - seems fine
• carbide 275R -£58.99 - I like, 1 wonky standoff that cross threaded, but you get a a spare.
• 2x 1Tb WD drives salvaged from a networked storage device no one uses.

Not getting a new video card yet, keeping my powder dry, sapphire RX580 8GB transferred and GTX770 making a surprise reappearance in the old machine.

Not overclocking obviously. Might replace stock cooler just to have something a little more substantial.

When the movie is playing on computer B, is B rendering the file, or is A rendering the file and streaming the data over my network?

The answer to this will determine what level of hardware I use in each room, so any help is appreciated.

To be honest it's hard to get any AMD CPU now. I guess the closest thing to it would have been a 3700x which used to go for about $300 but now have jumped up to the MSRP of $330 if you can find it. Admittedly if you have a microcenter you can probably get one for the old price. I know the 3800x and 3800xt are a little better but might not be worth the money. (I bought a 3800xt but that's because I got a really good deal on it right before everything went crazy.) I guess it doesn't hurt but you can look here to try and find one of those chips

When choosing cases start with your motherboard. Is it ITX mATX or ATX?

That will eliminate some choices.

Next concern is the size of the case itself. Do you have any concerns, requests there? Smaller? Is bigger ok?

Personally I never use stock CPU coolers, when I tried it they were crazy loud.

Congrats on the build. Got yourself a beast right there! And far as cases go, a lot of folks love the Meshify C and I believe Gamers Nexus posted that another just came out or is about to come out. The Corsair AIRFLOW 4000 series is said to be cool, too. I bought the be quiet! Silent Base 802 case. Smooth as butter, imo. And a lot better than the original Dark Base 700 case I was going to get. Far as cooler, the stock one should do you just find unless you plan to OC. Then I'd tell you to look at Noctua coolers or Be Quiet. Two solid options.

It would only really be different if you do realtime transcoding, which wouldn't really be necessary on a local network. People run Plex Servers on Raspberri Pis just fine.

It absolutely would be necessary depending on the device you are using to watch. IE watching x265 source on a device that doesnt decode x265.

Just have hardware accelerated HEVC decoding on the client (i.e. any GPU from like the last 5 years) and you'll be fine. My Plex Server is some piece of junk Celeron from 10 years ago and I can stream 4K60 x265 videos just fine from it.

Considering CPU is often a bottleneck in Cyberpunk, I'm wondering if it makes sense to upgrade to 3700x? because it is now available (I wouldn't buy 3800x I think, it has much higher TDP).... 5600x is not possible to buy now.

Or maybe a good alternative is to keep the 2600 and wait for a new socket from AMD? Then it would be a 90% new system though, as I'd need also new ram and would probably buy m2 drive...

yes transcoding. If watching on an old tablet for example it is necessary. or depending on the speed of your local network (IE streaming 4k over wifi is sometimes spotty)...

Yo guys I'm absolutely desperate with my computer. One day while playing it started resetting out of nowhere. This was like a month ago and I haven't been able to fix it.

So far I've tried:
- new psu
- new mobo + CPU
- removed GPU, tested with integrated
- tested RAM modules and slots separately and independently
- tested hard disks independently
- removed reset button front panel cable
- tried different power socket in a different room
- formatted and reinstalled Windows
- tried starting in safe mode, doesn't work (black screen)
- Disabled automatic reset in Windows options

Nothing works. I switch on the computer and in less than ten seconds, it resets. Seems to take less time if I'm connected to the internet. I'm literally at a loss and I don't know what else to try.

Any ideas? Anything helps
