fo76 ran at 20 fps. got thousands of complaints but bethesda never said hey guys refund the game if you don't like it. in fact they kinda said the opposite.

20fps is not 10-15fps whenever their is some shooting on the Xbox One S :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Not to mention that in Fallout76's case everyone knew the game was a total shit from the press and media so gamers simply avoided it.
But if you think that CD Project is made of good guys and handled this situation well you're delusional:

*They have hidden on purpose even from their own investors (who are now considering a class action in Poland) the state of the game on base consoles telling during interviews that it was ''surprisingly good".
*They tried to get an artificial 90 metacritic at launch (which has now dropped to 77 on opencritic) using just the PC version reviews from people who got stocked with gadgets and gifts.
*When things backfired they told people to ask Sony and MS for refunds without having a plan in place with them and that was an other amateurish mistake.

This is a scummy behaviour all around. There's nothing to defend about this.
Executives fucked up and the game should have been delayed again.

i just commented to say that the game got pulled from the ps store because cdpr encouraged refunds not because the game was broken or bad and that is a fact. you can continue your rambling now.

No you're just trying to deny reality and defend the undefendable. The game was launched as broken as you can get on PS4 and Xbox One S.
This lead to a mass refund situation that costed them the ability to sell the game on PSN for the time being.
Period.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
1. sell 13 million copies of your buggy game
2. lose $1 billion and tank your stocks
3. ruin your reputation and anger Sony to pull your game out of their store
4. members here congratulate them for their big success

I am sure angering Sony isn’t a big deal considering that the only a small portion of the overall sales are on consoles

Cannot capture the magic of the original? That's the take a whole lot of people thinks too, Cdpr cannot capture the magic of Witcher.
I have to say I really think they did exactly that though. As someone who played all of the Witcher games as they came out, the DNA of that series and especially Witcher 3 is really strong in CP2077. It very much feels like Deus Ex meets Witcher 3. In the writing, in the game design, in its structure, it all oozes CDPR. It's every bit as good as Witcher 3, better in many ways.

But if course Witcher 3 was a game that exceeded expectations, I think. It was hyped up to an extent but people weren't necessarily expecting it to be as good as it was.

Cyberpunk, people expected everything. Not just a worthy successor to Witcher 3, which I think they created, but something that would redefine gaming, a world they could completely believe that would react to their every whim. A revolution. And Cyberpunk is NOT that. It's still very much a game based on existing concepts and mechanics, just on a very ambition us scale with a beautifully realized, expansive world and next-gen graphics.

Hover Jets ? or do you mean in future DLC ?

I see your Avatar and am not sure how to take it , Truth or Joking

Hahaha yeah I get that a lot. No I am completely serious.

Double jump is tier 1... I actually haven't found tier 2 for double jump. But tier 2 for the charge jump is hover jets. No longer need to charge a jump, your jump goes to max height by default if you hold jump, and if you keep holding you can hover for a short period.

Both the charge jump and double jump have the same max height.

This lawsuit will never succeed. To start with all the senior management and board members own approx. 35% of stock so they had huge losses to their valuation this past week. Doesn’t seem like a smart thing rondo if you are trying to cheat people out of their money.
Also ‘surprisingly well’ is a subjective and qualitative measure, not a factual one. If they said ‘base PS4 is close to 30FPS on average’ the plaintiffs might have had something to latch on to.

Don't forget 5. the people like yourself who know so so so much about the stock market that they think the founders actually lost one "billion". For your information, until a stock is sold nothing is really lost or gained. The price will fluctuate, up or down.

Is this too much sophistication for you?

Nice selfie of yours there, though.
A lot of experienced speculators here.

No need to go to a financial advisor or do research. I just come to NeoGaf and someone will teach me.

Fantastic. Its the best game I've ever played, even with the bugs and glitches. I've waited 18 years for a game like this, and CDPR and Mike Pondsmith nailed the Sci-Fi/Cyberpunk story style within a GTA-like RPG. Now I wait for the sequel.

These places accepting refunds was because CDPR told their customers to demand refunds and created a shitstorm, NOT because their product was more defective than Anthem or Fallout 76 or whatever.
A stupid whataboutism, I've never said Fallout76 or Anthem wasn't defective. Them being defective has 0 relevance of whether CP was defective.
The fact of the matter is they are taking refunds because they acknowledge it is unplayable/defective. Cdpr doesn't dictate their operations.

I think it's very naive to believe that any of these places would be bending their refund policy for this game if CDPR didn't specifically instruct unhappy customers to demand refunds.

It's not whataboutism to mention these other games, it's precedent. People were mad about these games. They wanted refunds. They didn't get them. What was different this time was CDPR's response not that these companies grew a heart or that the CP2077's bugs were a bridge too far.

Just finished the game. Very buggy at the end for me. Had to save and reload several times to get NPC's to appear and follow. Plus items would stick to my HUD when picked up and not go away. Story was okay but I prefer the side mission stories more than I did the main quest. Will continue playing as I liked the combat and open world. I still prefer RDR2 then CP2077 for story and atmosphere. Still looking forward to DLC or whatever else may come from the end game.

Despite the last gen cosoles its a great game. I hope they do well but hurt enough to get thier priorities in order.

Thing is, they're not an auteur company. Witcher 1, 2, and 3 were all headed by different leads. They're sort of the opposite, a company that just has a deep, vast talent pool and where that collective resource is what makes their games great rather than the stewardship and vision of any particular individuals.

I don't know if auteurs really exist in AAA video games, anyway. Even a Neil Druckman or a Cory Barlog succeed because they have great collaborators. Look at the career of Tetsuya Mizuguchi, as much of an auteur as you'll find in gaming, and there's a start difference between his output at Sega, his output at Q Entertianinment, and now his work at Enhance.
Yeah I know - auteur company is kind of a contradiction in terms but that’s how I view them. The company has a rebellious spirit about it, probably from starting off by selling pirate video games under a communist regime.

This is crazy. Are there platform split figures?
GOTY on PC
SteamSpy estimates at least 10 million owners on PC. SteamSpy is a rough estimate, usually considered accurate to within maybe 10% or so, but considering that about 3 million of the pre-orders were on consoles and that figure has probably not gone up a great deal since, I think it's pretty safe to say 9-10 million are PC.

Nobody forced them to sell the game on those platforms. They chose to do that, knowing how outdated the hardware of those consoles were. I don't understand why people are using "7 year old consoles" as an excuse for CDPR. One would hope this fiasco servers as a lesson for all greedy gaming companies that think they can release a bugged product and fix it later.

No one actually believes that GTA V is better. How dumb do you have to have your opinion shaped by a 3 minute youtube video like that?

all the people complaning that gta v is better online or all the reviews saying the world is "empty and lifeless" because the police/random npcs' ai is crap

I bet the refund numbers aren't as high as some people would expect. I'd be willing to bet most people just shelved the game anticipating it will be in a better place in 6 months or whatever rather than refunding it.

I guess it turns out the combined forces of Reestera and gaming "journalists" weren't enough to cancel The Great Satan of developers CD Projekt Red and the Hitler of video games Cyberpunk 2077 after all. Imagine that.

They even like it on Resetera. I have feeling they will pull a Days Gone and No Man's Sky on this game.

I'm disappointed by the developers and how this game shipped. I may have talked shit about this game before and performance issues (my post history will show) but fuck me am I enjoying it now.

I'm even rethinking to cancel my refund request. I played last night for 5 hours straight and I couldn't put down my controller. It just sucks you in the more you play. The gunplay, the swelling and upbeat soundtrack when things get heavy, the characters and story. Game crashes for me 6 times last night on PS4 Pro but it just didn't put me off. I just kept coming back for more. This world and story has so much potential and I can't wait to start my PC build in the new year to run this game proprer.

It still annoys me CDPR managed to fool some people including me to buy this game on launch day but they have something utterly special here. I can't imagine how good this game will be with updates and more DLC.

With bugs and all this game is awesome. Runs crapoy on Pro but I can live with it.

Good I hope it ends up with rewarding the devs for busting ass on the game and allows them to flesh out/complete the features that are undercooked.

As much shit as I give some of the mechanics in the game I want to see what they really intended this game to become, and the only way to do that was sales. Hope they continue iterating on the game.

Not only that but they led people to believe the game has been in development for those consoles for many years when it really hadn't.

Like I do understand why this game has trouble running on old hardware, it's clearly very heavy, but they were planning this game since the generation began, you'd think they would have thought ahead on this problem. It's not like Outer Worlds where they decided to port it to Switch after the fact, it was always supposed to be multiplatform.

It's really dumb that they didn't just get next gen versions ready for launch, they would have been the big next gen game for all the new console owners. They still probably are, but even moreso.

Debatable. When the first E3 trailer launched in 2018, in that trailer was a message where they specifically wrote that they went into preproduction after Blood and Wine shipped. From that alone it was pretty clear the game was not in development since 2012.

Specifically, they said:

It’s been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and… went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things — you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves and get to work. We wanted to give you the Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.

As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077’s pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At she point we made the decisions to resume talking about the game when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realize you’ve been impatiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn’t like anyone to feel that we’re taking this for granted. On the contrary — it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too :)

Update 1.06 fixes the game file size issue. Out now and downloading.

Hats off to CDPR. Credit where credit is due.

Console specific:
Improved memory management and stability, resulting in fewer crashes.

Thank you Jesus!!
