Cyberpunk 2077 currently looks really bad on PS5 (not a shitpost).

Was playing this on PS5 and I've decided to put this game aside for now. The pop-ups are so bad (and so incredibly delayed) that it completely takes me out of the game at every turn. That coupled with the extremely low textures are enough to kill my enjoyment of this game in its current condition. Here's to hoping the devs will have a fix sooner rather than later.

Same, played 3 hours...nope. Im done until the nextgen version

I'd be more than ok with a patch that fixes this version. My money is already spent on it and I'd really like to get back to playing it again asap. But I can wait.
Of course you’d want to play it now and can understand that it’s tempting. By the time this game is ready, you’d probably be able to get it for 20$

I've been playing the game on the PS4 Pro. I think it's fine. Nothing that bad I see about it outside of weird glitches (experienced 1 so far, where Jackie started walking into a wall).

But I read the PS5 performs equally or better than a RTX 2080 hmm I wonder where? 🤔
it is in valhalla but there is no ps5 cyberpunk version only ps4pro bc with gcn instructions mode and no proper utliziation of kraken textures hw decompression but even with native ps5 further version it will be not rtx2080level as amd cards are behind in cyberpunk for example rx5700xt is 20% slower in this game than rtx2070super not to mention about rt performance

Few tips to give a try for better picture (if you haven’t done so already):
  1. Disable HDR both in-game and on your PS5. Doing this made a huge difference in overall color for me.
  2. Change your gamma settings. Take the instructions (barely visible) literally. I ended up at 1.08 on my TV.
  3. If you have a TV with some kind of X-Tended Dynamic Range (like Bravia) or something that creates fake HDR, use that instead
  4. If your TV has some sort of built-in resolution enhancement feature (in Bravia it’s called Reality Creation), be sure to turn it on and set as high as possible until it looks like text is jagged. This should eliminate a lot of the blurry look to textures

The game is not running with a native ps5 port

17GB one day after release. Well at least we know they’re serious about supporting it. I’m loving it so far but I know in 6 months this will be ultimately a different game. Looking forward to the journey.

dude thank you for this. i'm playing on series x, and it's the same thing. thought i must be missing something because i'm hearing a lot of people saying it looks "gorgeous" on the next gen systems. that TAA is awful. the image literally looks like it's dissolving or something. and the texture resolution is super low. in buildings in a darker environment you can see glimpses of promise, but it's just really a mess. sucks. like i get the next gen patch is coming next year, but man.

Looks like a shitpost to me.

A single screenshot compared to plenty of footage on Youtube which looks plenty good is also a bit of a weak argument. Every game in the universe can be made to look "Bad" with one screenshot.

Let's not even consider the fact that you're literally playing a PS4 game via backward-compatibility likely without tempering your expectations.

"shitpost'? more sounds like you haven't played it on next gen and are going off of fanboy bullshit youtube videos. it looks really bad. like astonishingly so. it's not about preference. it's pretty clear that the image you see when playing isn't good. i'm on an lg C8. all my other games look excellent on my series x.

No idea what your talking about, looks great on Series X

except for it doesn't. do you not see the fuzzy pixel stuff that digital foundry is talking about? did you not ride in the car with the cigar smoking black dude? the roof of the car is this grainy, soft pixel junk. the cigar is a 480p blob. and i turned off film grain and all that. if i start getting shitbombed, i'll take some pictures and post. it's not even a discussion of whether or not it looks bad. it just looks bad. yes, it's playable. but that's not what OP's post is about.

Finally got it myself. Looks pretty good on PS5 actually, I was expecting terrible things after all the stuff that's been said. Yes. shadows are pretty basic at times and there's lots of pop-in, but the visuals are darn good for what it is. It also looks fairly sharp to me after disabling film grain and CA.

Aside from getting full fledged next gen upgrade currently not much to see it on ps5. Yeah it runs fine. I suspect it holds 60fps 99% of the time. And until next gen upgrades come up for consoles not much is going to change. You guys have to take into account currently you are just playing port of a game from last gen on ps5. Not much to compare here.

Well, the patch didn't fix any of the issues I had with the game.

Pop in is still there and just as bad and textures are awful and slow to load.

It’s really bad on every platform but so many people are in denial.

Do you even care at that point though? Sure it’ll probably be great, but the greatest gaming experiences are usually the first experience. Sucks CDPR weren’t able to give that to a huge population of early buyers. The most diehard

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Fine? As if. Loads of people are mentioning the number of bugs on the PC version. Skill Up mentioned a pleothora of the bugs he encountered in his playthrough.

It's amazing the amount of shit people will eat for a game from their favourite developer 😁.

Game is getting mostly positive reviews on Steam. If it is a hot pile of mess like on consoles, the reviews will have reflected that

The latest patch may have upped the resolution on PS5 version. Some say it’s not as blurry. DF originally reported it mostly at 1080p or less.

YES!

The update actually removes the muddy look on the base PS4, it still looks a bit unclear but the eyes don't strain to look at it like before. It still runs like shit and got a legendary amount of bugs, but the extremely unpleasant muddy out-of-focus distance is actually fixed. Now, it's still somewhat muddy but it's a huge difference and is playable without hurting your eyes.

Still looks like a heap of trash on ps5 with new update. Looks like ants crawl on my screen

Ps5 ants on my screen on Cyberpunk pop-in

this is a travesty

This game is baffling in so many ways. It shows that it needed more months to be polished up, but underneath the many issues lies one of the best and most ambitious open world games ever made. Terrible optimization on all platforms, lots of pop-up, oceans of small and big bugs, lots of progression-related glitches, many features seem to not work as intended or not exist (the automated cars, the fact you can't change your appearance, etc.), all kinds of freezes and crashes. The interiors and characters look almost lifelike at times, even on consoles, then you go outside and during the day it all feels blurry, flat, at times looking worse than GTA V which isn't exactly a new game by now.

Seems clear to me this game was simply not ready but they had to publish it anyway, so here we are. Hell, they didn't even have the actual PS5 and XSX/S versions ready, we're playing through slightly enhanced (through brute force mostly) BC titles. I still stand by the fact it's one of the best games I played in several years, but after eating so many delays it feels baffling they eventually published it in this state. Then again it's COVID-19 season and they were crunching hard enough as is. I understand investors starting to get nervous, but they made their money back in like what, 2 days? Would it have killed them if the investment were a little higher for another 6 months of polish and they only get to recoup their money in... gasp... 3 days instead?

They were nervous because they were dropping stock with the delays, they were too afraid to delay any longer no matter the reason, they also want to take advantage of the sales on the old consoles since most still use them, which will not be the case a year from now.

Still not a good enough reason, but this is likely a situation were the developers are screaming in anguish of releasing a half baked game while the upper management refuse to risk potentially losing hundreds of millions.
