Don't listen to the doom and gloom surrounding CP2077 on XSX/PS5: If you have a next gen console and want this game, get this game

This is easily shaping up to be one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had in my entire life, and I'm playing on a XSX.

If you were to browse various forums or Reddit, you would think this game is unplayable. Lots of people are comparing the next gen footage to top tier PC footage and bitching about the differences. Seriously?

I'm close to 30 hours in and the game has not crashed a single time. The biggest bug I've experienced is that V was momentarily bald while looking into the mirror. Outside of that, some items can be a PITA to pick up (this does get fairly annoying at times, but far from game breaking).

The density of the city on both performance and quality mode is great, at least on the XSX. The screenshots showing crazy low density are either taken at off hours during the game, or at a time when the city is (mild spoiler)
on lockdown, which happens early in the game

The world building and writing in this game is unparalleled. Within the first 10 hours, the game had me crying (those of you who have finished Act 1 probably know what I'm referring to).

The only other time I've sought out side quests to this degree is in Yakuza 0. The amount of content in this game is absurd. I spent most of the day yesterday doing side quests and when I decided to turn the game off at 3am, I still had 32 unfinished side quests.

I can't vouch for the PS5 version, but if it's even nearly as playable as the XSX version, it is worth your time.

If you plan on using HDR, I would recommend adjusting the game HDR settings to the below:

Max bright - 850
Paper white - 170
Tone map 0.65

This alone made a HUGE difference in how the game looks for me. I also hear that some people are getting improved visuals by simply turning off HDR, but the above settings seem to make the game look great to me.

This is a game one can easily replay many, many, many times. No reason not to play it now and then give it another go once the next gen patch comes out.

At the end of the day, you are playing a game released for previous gen consoles. You knew this going into it. If you go in with these expectations, you should be more than satisfied with the performance you get on a XSX/PS5. Given that I was expecting to play xbox one x game on my XSX, my expectations have been far exceeded.

Just wanted to make this thread because it would be a bloody shame if some people who were excited for this game are now missing out because they decided to believe all the doom and gloom BS floating around the internet. The game is amazing. Play it.

What kind of cope is this? The game is buggy and sucks for some people, so you should probably wait until a patch fixes it. We've gone from games being released and downgraded for the older gen to games being released and downgraded for the newer gen. LOL No wonder they continue to do this with consumers such as yourself.

Isn't it better to buy it when it will offers a proper graphic update on next generation indeed to give for free our money for a lazy effort on console? Seems the minimum imo.

Yeah .. it’s not like it’s going to vanish!. I’m waiting for the patch to play it as a nextgen game on nextgen consoles not to praise it as a BC version which targeted current gen!

Yeah, I think it's fine on the Series X. Some bugs here and there but nothing major (I may have a higher tolerance for that stuff than most people though, I happily played through New Vegas at launch on a 360). It's still just a backwards compatible game at this point so I wasn't expecting it to look amazing like it would on some high end PC.

Saw the game with the next gen features, imo just hold off and buy it later.

Most people that bought a next gen console on launch or near launch want something more from the games they are currently playing, paying full time for cyberpunk right now isn't that, don't get me wrong, the game is great but it needs some polishing, having patience will just pay off and provide you a better experience, there is not a single reason to be hasty.

Great, I’ve had a lot of janky things happening so holding off myself for a few patches. Dunno if need to wait for the next gen patch but some improvement wouldn’t hurt.

This ain't even funny. Shit like this is why the gaming community sucks, and constantly gets ripped off. Dude is trying to sell others the game by telling his audience, "You knew it would be old gen on your next gen console" and "Buy now, but you'll have to do all this extra config shit to make it work. Might need 30 patches too." LOL

If ya'll weren't such "consumers", this game would've been complete and fleshed out already, but I digress. Have fun paying another $60 to unlock the full game, hypebeast

I play on ps5. It's a blurry mess. Nothing about it warrants the purchase for this console. If u have patience you should wait for the next gen update as cd red will make perfect use of the dualsense. As for now, it's legit worse looking than any AAA game I can remember in recent memory I've played on console.

You just have to trust in CD Project.

- They already releasing Patches to fix the busg
- They already stealth announced the FREE DLC coming
- They will surely prepare a DLC of the scale of "Blood & Wine (Witcher 3)" again

Iam playing it on PS 4 and i really have nothing to complain up til now. And the patch just hit.

I didn't buy a PS5 to play PS4 games, sunshine. Waiting for the next gen patch like anybody with a brain would. They have a lot of work to do if they want my £50.

Motherfuckers are so quick to give CDPR a pass and for what? They're a studio who have put out 1 good game. Makes me sick. They've just released a game in literally garbage condition. Fuck them. It's unacceptable.

There might be a fun game in there somewhere, but right now CP2077 is dogshit. It needed another 6 months in the oven...at least.
Also...loving the Reddit spacing in the OP.

As far as i played it... .its nothing that i would call dogshit.

I'm actually thinking of getting a base PS4 again just to play in 15 FPS. Sure I have a PS4 Pro and a One X but I am so devoted to this buggy mess of a game that I'll play the worst version because I love this company so much that who cares about reality.
Hyperbole much? The game has one or two segments according to DF where it dips down in the teens for a few frames. Big deal. If you honestly think a 7th gen console isn't going to be having issues with a next gen game then you need to re-evaluate how things work.

I played through skyrim on the ps3 where the game would break after 150 items or something were left on the ground, you couldn't save anymore. Dragons flown backwards. The game was a blurry mess, and this was 2 years before ps4 was even a thing. Check out games like farcry 3 Black flag on ps360 compared to 8th gen versions, night and day with performance etc..

If i didn't have a high end pc, I'd rather have a cut down version that gets a free update later than nothing at all. Nothing wrong with a game that sometimes gets low fps. Especially when it's on 7 year old tech, and not a competitive multiplayer game where fps matter.

I played quake 3 and crysis at some point on pc at 15-20 fps and enjoyed it. Why it was all my hardware could do at the time, and didn't have the cash to upgrade. Glad I at least got to play. Get the game on ps4/xb1 and when you get the next gen system when scalpers ease up, then play the free upgraded game. You aren't loosing out on anything. Its not ea / ms /activision where they are charging more for the upgrade.

Darkness no more
In 8 hours on the SX I haven't really had any bugs other then the ocassional floating object. The game looks like an average last gen game. I thought they would be able to do a bit more then what we are seeing on consoles considering so many last gen games look much better. A resolution bump would do it wonders. I'm debating shelving it for now and coming back when there is a proper next gen patch out. I've been wanting to get fully absorbed in the world and do all the side content and probably won't want to come back to it later if I do it all now.

I probably should have just moved my PC out of my office and connected it to my TV for 2 weeks looking back at things. Don't really want to buy the game twice now though.

Agree completely, outside of some software crashes I've had no proper bugs and am loving life in Night City on the PS5, people need to stop moaning and enjoy the game!

This people right here... what was the point in having a console again? Ah yes to avoid shit like this, some means multiple, having multiple crashes on AAA software is not OK.

As much I would like to enjoy my time with this game even after the latest 1.04 patch it still crashes every one and a half hours or so.

If you haven't gathered this yet from people who are sane and not prone to pretending they don't have buyers remorse, do not buy this game until there are reports from the user base that it runs stable. The low res textures and fuzzy graphics I can take, the constant crashing is not something you can really "enjoy".

1.04 introduced a noticeable bump in graphics quality, it also added a noticeable bump to frame drops, its getting there but it will take time... under no circumstances would I advise buying this for a last gen console or an Xbox Series S... really dont buy it on anything other than PC.

Just thought I'd mention in my 15 hours spent in the game I've only had 2 software crashes, no other bugs to report of, no noticeable frame drops, slightly blurry Res but that isn't a deal breaker.

It isn't the best experience, but it's still damn good, PC, Series X and PS5 are the only places to play this game and have fun with it.

Why bother playing if a native one of coming though?

First impressions matter and in don't want to tarnish it. I've seen videos of it, and it doesn't not look good at all on consoles.

Plus waiting means you get Dualsense features, fast loading, activities. Not too mention big fixed

This seems like a clear case of it you can wait, you should

I just wish HDR worked properly with this game, CDPR really half assed it so SDR seems to be the best option.
