Performance Test(GigaPixels/s): PS5 outperforms RTX 2080 by a wide margin under heavy load

Nah buddy, just calling out your ridiculous claims. One more day for that cyberpunk 2077 to drop! Can you imagine being a console warrior thinking these next gen games will look anything like PC high end version? Comparisons coming soon 💪 :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Game can't be maxed out @4K with 60fps.

PC players will have to cripple the visuals to get good performance.

tfanboys being fanboys about font sizes up to 4k. And there's nothing greater than a PS5 in the whole universe.
/s

Actually you can find something greater than a PS5 in the whole universe, it's two PS5.

Kidding aside, I'm just happy Mark Cerny and his team have built a great and efficient piece of hardware; I don't care about any comparison with Hi-end PCs, I will simply enjoy some of the best exclusive game experience in the whole universe, period.

So far, in real world gaming performance, and not some stupid metric based on one font rendering library, The PS5 is performing pretty much where everyone expected it to.

In pure rasterization workloads it's doing great at what will likely be 3060 (non-ti) levels or 2070/2070 super levels of performance.

Throw in ray tracing though and it goes down to something like a 2060super, almost certinaly below a 3060 or maybe a 3050(maybe ti?) level.

Throw in DLSS and well even the 2060 will outperforms it.

Are you really that clueless that you think constantly saying the same bs will all of a sudden make it not bs?
PS5 games aren't programed for 5400RPM HDD's like the PC.
PS5 wins.

Retarded is never having a answer and choosing to spin instead.

Who cares about budgets or however PS5 will achieve better rated, more awarded, more talked about, higher selling or most visually impressive games....this gen?

PC has nothing coming exclusively that can touch PS5 or is noteworthy.
PC can't touch ps5. Your right about that. PC has already stomped on it and kicked it to the side lines. More people are using HDD on PS5, compared to PC gamers. Everyone knows this. Except this triggered fanboy.

To the guy who said PC can't touch PS5 - why, exactly?

Is it because the PS5 has an incredible exclusive library? No, that can't be it.
Is it because the PS5 is powered by some untouchable technology? No, that can't be it.

Why, exactly, can a PC not compete with a PS5? I don't care about theoretical power, or games coming out in 2022. The PC has emulators to cover your exclusives, and exclusives of its own that consoles can't handle.

Take your time. I'll wait.

I'd love to see how S0ULZB0URNE S0ULZB0URNE will try and spin this somehow. He does it all the time, and somehow expects ps5 to outperform a 3090. Fucking LOL. Delusion at it's finest right there my friend.

Based on this test, i might've found a game that could potentially have superior performance on the ps5 when compared to high ends PC:

So nobody is going to notice how this is a completely bullshit benchmark that is not testing actual various graphic capabilities and instead "displaying complex fonts" on the screen?

Half of us did. The other half are clueless fanboys.
Soon there will be exclusive fonts for the ps5. And there will be fanboys making threads about that too. I wonder why they don't make threads for every single time PC beats ps5 in literally every multi-plat game

Ps5 can't run 4K 6 60fps with raytracing off and much reduced quality, textures, effects, etc. PC wins again 🤣

Still saying BS. PS5 GAMES DON'T USE A HDD LIKE THE DATED PC DOES.
Continue to say stupid shit all you want.

PC can't run CP2077 maxed @4K 60fps LOL no spin can change or deflect this fact.
$1500 3090 can't max out CP2077 @4K 60fps
The whole PC build with a 3090 would be over $3000

giphy.gif

Console optimizations>PC optimizations any day of the week.
PS5/XSX win.

I already told what PS5 is currently and will be better at this generation catch up before quoting me.

And emulators play OLD games so this don't work either kid.

Not sure whether to put the laughing face or the triggered face lmao. What a complete meltdown you just had. You do realize PC can run the game with ultra settings with raytracing and DLSS enabled... Right? You did know that, no? Did you know ps5 will play the ps4 version with last gen resolution, textures, no raytracing, etc? And won't have performance or quality options. Pretty sure millions of y'all with ps5 can run the game from your USB HDD's as well. I look forward to your next reply/meltdown.

This thread is full of butthurt PC fanboys either you aren't paying attention or are one of them?

Again PS5 games aren't made for HDD's like PC games are.

PC cannot (especially yours)
run CP2077 maxed/4K/60fps
DLSS isn't true so my point still stands.

Jesus man. The delusion is real. I'm not even going to argue this further - you can try and justify consoles however you want. It's just retarded that you actually suggest what you're saying is true in any way, shape, or form.

Preference is one thing. Some people prefer consoles over a computer. I get that. But you're a fucking idiot if you believe that a 30XX-powered PC with 32GB RAM is somehow less valuable or powerful than a PS5. It's just stupid.

Anyone arguing on value about high-end PC GPUs vs. a console is out of their god damn mind. It's not close. Either trolling or dumb, highly likely both.

Not one time did I say what was more powerful.
Idiots suffer from reading comprehension.

Can you show me where ps5 looks better and runs better than a decent gaming PC or a high end PC? Even something with the lowest end Nvidia 3060 ti gpu for instance, if you know where I'm going with this. I'll be waiting for your triggered response yet again.

Also I'll be playing over 60fps with raytracing and ultra settings on MY PC. No need to be upset. Wonder how many will be installing to HDD on ps5 for cyberpunk tomorrow.

10000% agreed, which is why I'm getting better value out of my gpu than getting a console, which can't run near the settings of my gaming PC. Plus my gpu supports CUDA, and there multitudes of things I can do outside of gaming.

Depends on what you define as a "decent gaming PC." One can be a disingenuous trolling prick and pick $500+ cards (without any other component in the mix that makes the rig) as the base floor but reality is a different story. You can always go to Steam to quote their flawed figures from the PC parts poll they run... and as it stands, even using that flawed data shows a "decent gaming PC" does not outperform a PS5. Anyway I'm really excited and looking forward to you providing empirical data on what a decent gaming PC looks like in 2020. Obviously you can't use your opinion as a measurement of objectivity. Otherwise why even bother?

For multi-purpose usage there is more potential bang to a PC than a console - that's true. But it all depends on usage - what type of programs require the system to have a $1000+ GPU in order to function? or a $300+ CPU? and a pricey PSU to power it? What's are the minimum req's for the programs? Only by having that honest assessment can you start to dig into value/per-dollar spent per part relative to what's minimally required (or recommended) - that's where you get the excess waste ($$$). What's your average folk doing with a gaming PC though? Youtube/Emails/Internet browsing/chatting on NeoGaf/Word processing/Gaming? We have to assume of course that smartphones haven't taken over the majority of that for average folk and displaced much of the laptop/desktop market (gaming handhelds too).

For gaming however, as a sole arbiter of value, the debate is not close, and it favors consoles (more so the PS5 than at any other point in the last 2 gens). That's what is argued here, in a gaming forum after all, in a thread about hardware performance.

I too wonder about HDD usage... out of the 2.5 million (estimated) PS5's out there... to be 7 mill+ or so by the end of the Fiscal Year..... out of that what fraction will be using an external HDD to store Cyberpunk in (assuming 100% attach rate)? 0.1%/0.3%/0.5%? ...being generous there. Statistically irrelevant data you may say. Which begs the question.... Why wonder about stupid things so obvious? Few guesses tho... trolling, bad faith arguments, maybe just dumb.

Demon's Souls|R & C.>>>anything on the PC in the same genres.

You won't be playing with next gen 4K/Maxed details Ultra RT/60fps.

Maybe the 4090 will be your savior but nVidia likes to take there time releasing cards.
Hey still have PS5 as a option!

Again PS5 games are not made for HDD's.
Your format still gets games that supports legacy devices lol.

Why is it that it's only Sony fans ( only a select few, not all of them ) that are so threatened by Cyberpunk? So fragile.

Literally ALL of the Cyberpunk doom patrol are well known ultra Sony fans. I'm not seeing Switch or Xbox fans so afraid of Cyberpunk and acting up like this. Why is that?

Decent build could be a 3060 ti for gpu. Its affordable and has better performance than ps5. You can do so much more than gaming as well. A gaming PC isn't inclusive to just playing games, in case you didn't know that already.

Building a gaming PC allows you to play next, NEXT gen games, as well be productive in multiple other avenues. Someone could upgrade to a better experience for the price of a digital ps5. That's insane value right there, and you wouldn't be limited to only playing games at 30fps with reduced raytracing either! Its a win win. You could go balls to the wall and get a $700 or so on a gpu that will be better than an ps5 pro/ps6, which would be a good bit cheaper than getting a ps5 and a ps5 pro over the next few years.

Where did you get your numbers for the percentage of people using a HDD by the way? You gotta source on that?

Lmao you're delusional opinions are so funny. What if the PC version of demon souls has raytracing, since it didn't make it in the ps5 version. As well as higher framerate, and better everything.

Why won't I be playing next gen games maxed out, with raytracing, over 60fps, etc? I mean you would be right if I had a ps5 instead of my PC. But since that's not the case, please inform all of us why you believe that?

So no one is using a HDD on their ps5? How else do you think they are playing all those last gen games? Or what about all the threads about using a 4TB HDD, etc, since the SSD is so tiny on the ps5? That's a HDD if I need to remind you again. Hard Disk Drive.

So you're just using your opinion on what a "decent gaming PC" is, and raise the bar to whichever point you wish it to be at to suit your bad faith argument. In other words, with this spin, you and I both know we're done here. Just making shit up to troll with nothing to back it up except tales from you know where. But like I said if you can bring empirical data to the mix maybe I'll consider debating the subject in a non-dismissive manner. Although I already did earlier in the year on this very forum on the only flawed data available. Needless to say I already know the outcome. Which is why I can confidently say, the PS5 outperforms a decent gaming PC in 2020, will outperform that bar in 2021, even 2022 (and perhaps beyond). You know, whatever the definition that is on data presented. Only data tho...

Where did you get your numbers for the percentage of people using a HDD by the way? You gotta source on that?

No. I got no source. It's just an educated guess looking at the obvious idiocy of the implied suggestion. There are 2.5 million PS5's out there (estimated). How many copies will Cyberpunk sell on PS5? Say for the sake of this argument... for a whole year (12 months and change): 2 million copies out of 10 million consoles? Cause I'm feeling generous... 20% attach rate (that attach rate will obviously shrink as the years progress - hence why I'm generous). How many of those 2 million out of 10 million will be installing a PS5 game on an HDD? What does that percentage comes to? Can PS5 Cyberpunk owners even do so atm if they wished? Or will they have to wait for a functionality patch? How many gamers are going to do so as they bridge over from PS4 over to the PS5 instead of simply using the internal SSD? Lets assume a world that doesn't exist as of the moment but may in the future where external storage support for PS5 games is supported.... after all the hype for the game has died down in the months to come, how many will chose to store the game on an external storage device once the functionality is patched? Out of that how many will chose a bulky HDD over a SSD (SATA external or internal NVMe)?

I'm really having a good laugh at this. For once you give Sony more credit than they deserve, even if unknowingly to make a trolling argument work. Even in a best case scenario, with supported functionality out the gate it's retarded to argue about it and statistically irrelevant.

Are you triggered or what? Someone not wanting to spend too much, can get the latest and greatest for cheap. Aka the 3060ti. Latest generation of gpu's, cheapest price. How is that trolling, unless you just can't rationalize common sense and why someone would want better performance than buying an older gpu? Maybe you can't have a proper discussions because you only see in fanboy, and can't think of the most obvious route to take when upgrading or building a PC?

Why do you think the ps5 will out perform a gpu that is confirmed equivalent or better than ps5? That literally makes no sense to think otherwise, unless it's due to fanboy reasons again. How is the cheapest, latest gpu a bad option for a decent gaming rig? I didn't say high end or God forbid, a enthusiast gaming rig. I honestly want an answer to this question specifically, as it seems you want to "NOPE" out of the discussion as soon as someone brings up a relevant, valid point, which seems to scare you away for some reason. Its the same price as a digital ps5, which most people would rather buy the disc version for $100 more. So you have a savings of $100 bucks upfront/better performance for cheaper. How can you disregard that?!

PC has already beaten ps5 performance from well over 2 years ago, so why do you think that would suddenly change, especially with even better gpu's from both AMD and Nvidia? You do realize both companies released new lineup of gpu's just recently, right?

Cyberpunk was just an example since the game releases tomorrow, and since your buddy thinks no one uses external HDD's. There's are hundreds of thousands, if not a close to a million or so, with HDD's attached right now to their ps5. And that number will continue to rise. There is no date for adding SSD storage to ps5, so go figure.

You keep trying to say I'm trolling, but I was enjoying reading this thread, until several console warriors tried to downplay PC (as usual, including yourself). I said my part, and instead of accepting facts, you guys try and double down. So please show me any games that run better on ps5 than PC counterpart. The timer starts now! Go!

Your opinions are not based on fact - maybe you got the definitions flipped. Spins are not a substitute for data, or educated guesses based on sound rationale. Don't get upset, we all know you troll and love it, and project like hell/play the victim etc when simply challenged by anyone that you can't boss around (of which you enjoy considering the repeating nature of the behavior - it's an ego boost). This thread is fine example (of many).

When you get data or some sort of empirical info on what a "decent gaming PC" is we can continue the argument. And the reason I keep the door open is on the 1-in a million off chance you could manage to provide up-to-date polling or data on the subject. I already laid a hint of where you can find the best info available on the subject (even if flawed). Cause, I figured Google won't help you unless I give you a hint (the spins that followed to substitute for data just confirmed that hunch). I also already know the outcome of the argument based on the Steam data. You're wrong.

The disingenuous argument of value is dead when narrowed to gaming (which is what this forum is about). Not that it's wrong to broaden the argument but in gaming forums the implied arguments of value are of that, gaming. So berating other users on that is simply bad faith dialogue to score points. It's common knowledge too. Not sure what went through your head by going against conventional wisdom.

The PS5 HDD talk is low rate trolling. Nothing wrong in calling things for what they're. No safe space.

The disingenuous argument of value is dead when narrowed to gaming (which is what this forum is about). Not that it's wrong to broaden the argument but in gaming forums the implied arguments of value are of that, gaming. So berating other users on that is simply bad faith dialogue to score points.

The HDD talk is low rate trolling. Nothing wrong in calling things for what they're. No safe space.
You claim several things about me, yet absolutely no proof. Great way to escape a discussion you couldn't rebuttal. Again, you run away when you are backed into a corner, with no answer to a simple question. Instead you try and attack me and my character, only because I'm not agreeing with your nonsense.

So I'll ask for the 3rd time now, what is wrong with using a 3060 ti? Its $100 cheaper than ps5, but gives better performance. Why would this not be considered a "decent" gpu? Or should I call it a low end gou, because that's exactly what it is. Not in a bad way, but it's the lowest priced, lowest performance of the Nvidia 30XX series. Yet, better performance than ps5.

You say I'm wrong, yet provide no evidence at all? What gives? Why do you suddenly have cold feet, and can't continue the discussion? Back against the wall or something? You can't just run to your safe space now that I've called you out multiple times, and especially since you are trying to portray my character for something it isn't. You've avoided all of my points now, haven't answered a single question. I answered you, so please answer back? Hello?

You wrote a lot asking for a simple, obvious answer: You're not an arbiter of what a "decent gaming PC" is or looks like in 2020. "A rig with a 1060/5800/2060 is a decent gaming PC in 2020" etc... eye of the beholder argumentation. Which is why data on the subject is preferred otherwise there is nothing to argue other than "my opinion is better than yours". Now I was kind to provide a hint of where you could find such data as I already argued on this topic earlier in the year. Mainly because I knew you had nothing other than your opinion and would attempt to spin it around any way you could (which you have). Also because I know where the exercise leads. On that, you're wrong.

I already laid the obvious in a few posts above. Your bad faith argumentation is based on a picked bar, which goes as high as it needs to be in order to be "right" (not an inch lower). In other words, full of shit. And the other points well, dead too as the resistance wanes cause the more you post, the more obvious it gets.

Not one time did I say anything about how many people still use a HDD on PC.
What I did say is games that are made for PC are still programed for HDD's unlike the PS5 which gives PS5 the advantage.
You continue to lie and say PS5 games are using HDD's.
Keep doing it and I will start reporting the posts.

I said CP2077 you can't max out @4K and get 60fps in response to a false comment about it on the PC.
Nothing about other game performance..I am starting to think English is a 2nd language for you danny boy.

Demon's Souls is not a PC game(another lie)

Most console players will be HDD players for a long time.

U lump all PC players together in different markets makes no sense. And there are games that use SSD's perfectly fine for PC.

looks good still hard to compare space game with anything else apart same genre though days gone renders 500 zombies on screen and looks better then this with many different variety of objects.
this is just planet and many ships with FX should be more heavy on CPU then GPU nothing PS5 couldn't achieve.
PS4 could do this with less objects on screen.

Atari could also run this if it just where dots.

The point i am trying to make here is simple. Sony invests into high quality models and sacrifices everything else for it while they are at it, PC games i play are all builded around huge numbers of players ( buildings or units in the screen ) in a online world ( also other kind of games ) that isn't precalculated where a player goes. For example, go run that EU5 demo let 10 players jump in it and throw grenades with explosions everywhere with light bouncing everywhere and physicals that crumble those statues. now suddenly the detail of those statues go down massively because in the demo they showcased they have full control of where the character goes and what's on the screen at all time, the same goes for sony type of games.

Nothing on the PS5 looks remotely interesting to me. The only game i could give credits is spiderman because they actually pushed him into a living city. Everything else is sacrifice golora everywhere.

You won't be playing with next gen 4K/Maxed details Ultra RT/60fps.
How do you know what settings games will use on PS5? It's already known from RDNA2 benchmarks that RT performance on consoles are abysmal compared to NVIDIA.
Most likely consoles will run at lower settings than PC-Ultra (it's NVIDIA sponsored title) and not have any RT in Cyberpunk, or have it at very low quality. It's not even a question, it's reality.
SSD's will work faster on consoles, yes.

It will straight up run the PS4 version as cyberpunk team dev team isn't building next gen versions for consoles anytime soon.

I wonder if each company would be willing to allow benchmarking applications to be used on their consoles, I imagine it's amazing marketing that doesn't cost a dime.

So you still have nothing. Ok, noted. So it's perfectly fine for someone to spend 500 on a ps5, buying higher priced games compared to PC games, and to actually pay for an online subscription to be able to use cloud saves. But it's NOT ok to pay less money for a gpu in the same year, 2020? Do you not see where your "argument" completely falls apart? You will not speak on the 3060 TI being a "decent" gpu, yet it is the weakest GPU Nvidia sells in its recent lineup (ps5 is Sony's most recent in the PlayStation line up). And yet, it beats the ps5 and being $100 cheaper. Maybe it's not decent, but a GREAT upgrade for several people.

Can you please tell me why you are forbidden to speak on the 3060 ti argument I've brought up? Instead you continually try to say I'm opinionated, biased, *random attacks*, etc.

At this point this is my 4th and final time asking you about the performance and price difference between a 3060ti and ps5.

You could have just said you don't have a single clue, instead of trying to still pain a bad picture of me.

You still aren't reading what I've been saying. There are hundreds of thousands of people with a HDD hooked up to their ps5. I'm not sure why that makes you upset that people do this for some odd reason. How do you think they will be able to store their games? Can't fit their library on the tiny SSD in the ps5, so they are playing games from a HDD.

I play on an ultrawide and I'm not interested in 4K. So yes, ultra settings and raytracing maxed out, over 60 fps. But but but... You said I couldn't with my PC 😂. Fucking lol. Today the comparisons will be released. Let me know how cyberpunk runs on ps5. Its installed on one of my SSD's in case you were assuming it's on a HDD for whatever reason. But you have been wrong just about every single post, so there's that.

A gamer walked up to a videogame store
And he said to the man, running the store
"Hey! (Bum bum bum) Got any flops?"
The man said
"No we just sell games. But they're great
And they're new
And they're all well made. Do you want one,
alas?"
The gamer said,
"I'll pass".
Then he waddled away.
(Waddle waddle)
'Til the very next day.
(Bum bum bum bum ba-bada-dum)

It's never been about other consoles... we are comparing PS5 which only runs PS5 from the nvme drive unlike the PC is the point.

You still don't have a point cause PS5 games aren't made to support the dated HDD tech like the PC is.
You insinuated that PS5 had this same bottleneck.

Current PC builds won't be playing CP2077 Max details/RTU/4K/60.. No matter what your new spin is.
"pie_tears_joy: I knew you wouldn't be playing it in a current gen resolution/settings

I could flip the equation and say PCMR fans are the worst. They literally enter every console thread and berate how the peasants are playing inferior versions and why their experience is superior.

U lump all pc's together i lump all consoles together. U don't like it because it doesn't favor your argument because the average hardware for console users is far far far worse then the average steam user has. Not to forget steam has 1 billion accounts where it most likely gathers information from which makes it even more worse for consoles really.

PS5 uses a nvme drive indeed, so does high end pc's already for a while. And yes i got a 3,5gbps ssd and it gets used in games / emulators and programs all day long, much like some games will address the PS5 SSD performance and others simple won't exactly like high end pc's. And when a game starts to require a super fast nvme drive people will simple just upgrade for a small fee like they always do or else we would still be sitting with intel integrated graphics games on pc.

I can lump them all together vs PS5 cause PS5 games aren't made to run on HDD's unlike the PC.
All the others parts of your post are irrelevant to the point.

B-but PC is better because 3090 exists!!

I won't buy one (i will play Cyberpunk with my 1080) b-but PC is better.

And stop saying PS5 is outperforming 20 series! You guys can't have great exclusives AND best performance at the same time!
