The funny thing is that there are people that don't think GoT is worthy of an award when going against TLOU2. So rather than thinking it won something fair and square, they're going to think it was "stolen" from TLOU2, or it happened because of trolls, etc.
Man, to each their own, but I personally feel like GoT deserves it for replay value alone. Especially after the DLC they dropped. TLOU2 was a very pretty game, but it was very much a one and done title that just dragged on and on IMO. Nearing the end it was hard to not roll my eyes out of my head because I was being hammered with how depressing everything was, how sad this and that was, etc. It just repeatedly felt tiring throughout the whole experience, so much so that it didn't really feel "fun" per se.

You know I liked TLoU2 very much, still think that has unmatched killroom gameplay and even that it will take years for competition to begin to close the gap.
But the experience is too diluted, that the scripting is too biased, the LGBT thematic too pronounced, even unrealistic in a world haunted by mass exinction every second.
Attaching these themes to a sequel of a game extremely successful was in a way pretentious, manipulatory, I dare to say vile.
That a game with a classic hero, with a great gameplay, focused on its own reality and thematic won is refreshing.

GoT was an amazing game, and my personal GOTY thus far. TLOU2 was also fantastic IMO.
The sales, reception and now awards feel like a breakout moment for Suckerpunch, in the same way as Horizon was for Guerilla. Suckerpunch and Guerilla are now in the same tier as Naughty Dog, SSM and Insomniac in world wide studios.
Bend made great strides with Days Gone, hopefully their next game can be a breakout too.

I did. And I enjoyed it. It wasn’t really a huge open world. That’s what I should have said. It was very much on rails. Sure you could go in buildings and open safes, but there were no side quests or anything. It just didn’t do it for me as much as the first one did. And it dragged on and on. That’s my main gripe.

In term of sales, outside the initial big launch of 4 million copies the game leg is tracking behind the like of Spiderman, GOW, UC4, HZD, and GOT.
In other words, the most expansive game of PS4 didn't explode like he was expecting before in both critically and commercially.

The game basically do way better than the original with better and fast reactive AI, the levels are complex and added vertical options to it, enemy variety is way better, it has more stealth and combat options, and shooting with guns still has unmatched impact and effect, there are more crafts and skills to use, etc.
You have way different ways to play the game and/or beat the enemies.
That is something the first game had and it was vastly improved in the sequel.
Plus there is a lot of side activities... in fact it do more than some Open World games.
People are really that blind due the political views? Because there is no way to play TLOU2 and thinks it has no variety lol

It's way beyond what I expected from Sucker Punch. the story script is professional. the character arcs were great. it has the most beautiful graphics in an open world game. the combat had a great feel and makes you look awesome.
Don't be salty, gamers had a tone of other games to chose, they chose Ghost of Tsushima.
the only reason TLOU2 "won" that thing over a week ago was because few gamers knew about the poll.

It's one of those games where early impressions and reviews made it sounds like what I feared it would be (a Ubisoft style open world), but most user impressions I've seen over these past month have been great.

Ultimately, unless someone hacked the poll or employed bots to give GOT a massive amount of fake votes I don't really see how the win isn't "legitimate". It's a player vote, people get to vote for whatever reason they want.
They are doing that though. They've massively expanded their first party studios.
It's just going to take time to see the results. I'd rather have them taking their time than buying new studios and forcing them to release rushed games ASAP
