So to play to Cyberpunk 2077 on the Xbox Series X|S do you have to run the game on the internal hard drive or can it be ran on a external hard drive?

So I wanted to get the game on Xbox but my Series S internal hard drive is almost out of memory. Unless I delete or transfer games to the external drive, that isn’t required to play on the SSD. I won’t be able to play it on the Series S because it only has about 145GB and the game takes up maybe around that amount. So my question to you guys is, can it be playable on the external hard drive, would I miss any performances that I would get on the Series S SSD? Because to be honest if I would lose enough performances then I’ll try to get it on PC or just get it on Stadia (don’t hurt me) until I’m able to get the external SSD the Xbox needs.

Since it's not Series X|S optimized I would think running off external is just fine. Might just see longer load time.
That’s the thing I don’t like but if it’s possible to run it on external until they decide to do the upgrades for Series X|S and PS5 then I’m good to go. Thank you.

Both works. External and internal.

there are even Series X optimized versions that work from the external HDDs

What games that are optimized, can be played off the external. I've tried to move optimized games to external and the system told me it can't be played unless on internal.

Not optimized you can run on external. If you run it on internal, you will get shorter load times.
Optimized, you have to run it from internal.

Quite simple actually.

it's technically an Xbox One game and like all Xbox One games you can run it off a USB 3.0 hard drive externally without issue.

Running it from internal SSD however will yield or should yield faster load times. Gameplay shouldn't be affected though whichever way you go.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare/Warzone
Ori
Sea Of Thieves
Halo MCC Collection

That's the ones I've found so far.

I though I heard somewhere there is a XSX patch for this game at launch. Not the full optimized for XSX but something to let it run at 60fps. Not sure if it needs to be on the internal SSD to run this patch.

I think it's just an unlocked framerate, so the Series X runs the One X version at max.
