Do you think a lot of Bethesda Exclusives will be on Xbox One

I was just thinking about this. Since the acquisition I figure they will still be developing for Xbox one which could mean that graphics might not be as great as if they were made exclusively for series X.

I think Starfield will come out next year apparently, but wouldn't be surprised if it's actually delayed to give the best use of the XSSX toolset. Unless the game is already a GOTY tier game where Microsoft would only do some small help.

Not impossible that they might be doing that right now, but the deal won't be finalized until around April.

They promote smart delivery so all games will be optimized to run on whatever console you have from MS for a while. There will be a point when they say no more for XB1. That maybe 3 years from now.

Why would it sting? It's a good thing consoles has exclusives. That gives it a reason to buy them.
Because I loved DOOM 2016 and Doom Eternal and played them on the other console , I agree exclusives are important it's just kinda shit for the player bases when a established series goes exclusive when it was traditionally multiplatform

That's true and I get your point. But Microsoft buying them is the least worse of the three. With Sony or Nintendo these games would be locked to their consoles, and least with Microsoft we can choose to play on pc or Xbox.

You're correct, a guy can hope though. I'm pretty hopeful they wont be exclusive for their next iterations and then past that they will start doing exclusives. The fact that they're honouring Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo exclusivity deals leads me to think along those lines

Those deals were already made before there was even talks of Bethesda becoming part of Microsoft, i don't know if they can just ignore those without having to pay a lot of money to Sony.

Still, I hope this doesn't lead to Sony going even harder on timed exclusives, Kena is another one, FF7 Remake was another one and i don't really like the idea of Sony and Microsoft just really paying for a lot of games to not be available to many gamers for a year as they see reviews, videos and threads about them but can't even play a game that isn't even actually exclusive.

Exclusives are fine, timed exclusives are so awful i feel like punching whoever had that idea.

People who believe in Starfield releasing next year, are in for a rude awakening.

TES6 will release first, in 2022, followed by Starfield in 2023.

I don't see Bethesda releasing TES6 and Starfield on lastgen consoles unless Microsoft wants a downscaled port to add value for gamepass as day 1 titles for an installed base of 50 million, and whatever revenue from retail+digital if they allow a PS4 version.

Booty said "for the next couple of years" when asked about crossgen, back in Nov 2019, so technically that's at the very least till Nov 2021.

To be fair they really have no choice than to "honor" these without breaking the contract. It was a deal between Bethesda and Sony before the acquisition.

Bethesda hasn't made a deal with anyone regarding tes6, as its a multiplatform game, or, it was.

Do the snozberries.. taste like snozberries?

There's no way Microsoft is going to spend all them millions acquriing zenimax/bethesda and then let their competitors have the dev's exclusive titles. Maybe they'll let some multiplats go, but I fully expect Bethesda's big titles to be primetime exclusives for pc/eck bock only going forward.

They’ve already stated the big exclusives are coming to all consoles.

Doesn’t bother me either way....most of their games are janky messes and Game Pass has been proven to drive quality further down.

Probably more chance they'll be on the PS5. Can't ignore 100 billion PS gamers

of course you can. Number of PS5 players are small peanuts compared to PC+Mobile players.
dude, they won’t even allow you to buy games on iPhone or Android due to the cut apple and Google take.
And you honestly think they would spend tons of developing money to develop a game for Sony’s platform? lol.

No, they actually said the contrary. They said only current games stay there of course. They won’t take something away that’s already there.
Also qualitywise Gamepass is amazing. Much better than PSNOW and by far the best subscription services when it comes to quality.

There a 100 billion PS5 gamers?

That would be more than Sony sold on all 4 previous systems combined.

Can’t wait to see that stat.

He meant to write million I guess.

I think people who expect Starfield on PS5 are in for a rude awakening. Of all titles, a new unproven IP makes the most sense to lock down forever.

Even 100 million still makes sense?

When some of these games release there will be less than 20 million.

Yet they need to be catered to the most. (In those minds)

Anyways, i just want to point out Mojang was bought by Microsoft on 2014, by that point the game was already on PS3 and had versions announced for PS4 and Wii U, Minecraft was already a multiplatform franchise and an all ages hit that managed to get many people who don't care for any other games to play it.

Bethesda games are popular too, yes, but they don't feel like they hit the mainstream success of Minecraft around the world in all demographics, and while they are honoring deals that were already made and they don't get hurt by porting Minecraft games to everything, it does feel like it's in their best interests to put Bethesda games only on Xbox and PC.

Besides, people will buy consoles for exclusives, Playstation is a great example of that, at the very least Microsoft would probably make it so that Bethesda and some of their studios's games are TIMED EXCLUSIVES...what, Sony does this all the time paying to get big games be only on their platforms for a year, why shouldn't Microsoft be allowed to do the same?

You're right.

Microsoft releasing halo infinite, next Forza and tes6 on ps5 as they can't ignore the big player base.

Such arrogance, and still not understanding why Microsoft bought Bethesda.

No reason to buy Bethesda if they kept making multiplatform games.

I see we are still in the denial phase. Its gonna be a long one.

If I were at Bethesda at leadership, literally the last thing I would want touching my new attempt to push open world forward, and get back to Bethesda glory, is Jaguar CPUs.

Market realities, yes, but I feel like a 2021 game like Starfield may just exclusively target next-gen, and try to be the first to reap the rewards there, for years to come.

2022 and beyond, that just becomes even more the case.

OP is talking about the XBOX One, which is not made by Microsoft's competitor.

I don't see how a complex game like TES, in 4k, even at 30fps, could possibly work on Xbox One S or X (CPU restraints)

So, no. Going forward, Bethesda games will be exclusive to XSS/X. Which is why we won't see TES et al until the back end of next year/mid 2022

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Any game has a chance to be anywhere only games that are truly exclusives are Mario, Zelda etc. and even those you can get on roms.

I’m thinking best case scenario for ps users is timed exclusives. As in they will release on Xbox and then on ps5 6 months - 1 year later.

Like for any other game from any developer, if development started on Xbox One, they will most likely release it. If development started later, there won't be an Xbox One version.

This situation is not different with Xbox One than with any other console...

Can you link the interview with that quote? Because neither of us on Gaf has seen it.

Could be a CNN article maybe?

Which games did game pass destroy the quality in?

If I know MS way of thinking, yes, they will put Bethesda soft in as many hardware platform as possible, that includes PC and 1S/X. I wouldn’t even rule out the PS5 if it makes financial sense to them. They are in this business to make as much money as possible, and they don’t believe in generations.
