I remember buying 14 at PS4 launch. On the then new Ignition engine, it was really next-gen and also feature packed. One of the best ever.

This game (and PES) need a massive improvement of Carrer and Master league modes. Cross the fingers for 2022 versions to bring it

I think so, though the fact that the Xbox One and Series versions are not smart delivery opens a margin of doubt. Btw, why EA didnt implement smart delivery? odd decision.

Funny enough, currently La Liga is adding fake people on the stadiums, like poor quality textures used in the 90s.
Who would imagine that reality would make a graphical downgrade actually a feature!
Yeah FIFA 99 backport into reality.

Just played the opening match on my lunch break, WOW is this an improvement gameplay wise, feels much more realistic and the way the Dualsense uses the haptic feedback to simulate things from passing the ball to trapping it to the crowd celebrating is insane!

Unfortunately the next gen Madden is not this big of an upgrade in visuals and gameplay.

Fuck EA Play and the horse it rode in on. It seems that ANY mention of FIFA on the Store has been overtaken by the fact I have an EA Play Subscription and Played the Trial. It Ignores the fact the Bloody disc is in the PS5 and tries to get me to pay again. Obviously, as its not an "Update" I can't update the game itself from the home Screen and there is no way to log out of EA Play.

LOL.

You tried going into your account section and cancelling the subscription? Could trigger something in the system.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Ive got it 50% off on xbox store last week. And if you have Gamepass, just wait a couple of months and will get added there.

You wont get FIFA 21 on GP by February, no way. It'll be on EA/GP round about August next year around a month before FIFA 22 comes out.

i hate how parts of the nets appear and disappear... just make them clear, bold white like how it look 90% of the time in real life

this next gen lighting does not agree with these nets

wow, just got the update and tested it on series x. It looks... really high res.
One concerning thing is that it looks that online modes are not shared with base models.

SAME DAMN THING

Not really, though it's much more subtle than I'd like, much more of a PC version of a current gen game kind of thing instead of a proper next gen game, so, mostly better shadows, better texture resolution, also looks sharper though I thought the PS4 version was already in 4K so I don't know what's going on there. I just did a quick comparison but I think I spotted more animations prior to kick off, the loading is faster and there's no training drills before a game as it's already loaded and ready to go (I just tested the quick match option, don't remember the exact name).

The things that are most noticeable are the new camera system that shows a lot more of the pitch and the stadium. The crowds also seem to have more animations and are more detailed in general, while during pregame the camera zooms all over the stadium, which is absent in the PS4 version.

A bit disappointed but the expanded point of view does make the game play better. :)

Not a drastic change. Hair is nice, but where are the cloth simulation changes? The lighting and shadows are also nice, no more flickering.

But from what was said online about what’s new. Am disappointed. Subtle changes.

One change I like though, is the no mini game, shows you an intro to the game instead.

Right. Well since EA royally screwed this up for some, me included, I jumped onto EA Play and played the 10 hour trial, which IS the PS5 version. Quick feelings below is anyone actually cares:

Graphically, lovely. 4k looks great, most (not all) faces are accurate and the hair tech is a good show of improvement, as far as console power goes. The crowd and stadiums really pop with the new lighting, however if the whole "Getting off the bus, walking down the tunnel" is your thing, you will be disappointed. Would be good to see this more, but as far as I can see, this was JUST for the opening game (Edit: according to pitchside reporter DonJorginho DonJorginho , it does appear to be in career mode) The opening cinematic for games are the same as the ps4 version, I havent seen it since, not even for derby's. In this instance, it all falls a bit flat and falls back to "Oh, this is the same :(" a bit disappointing. Like the new camera though. Opens up the pitch and makes planning a counter attack easier. However, I can see how it might be Marmite for some, bit like the TV broadcast cam is.

Sound seems to be improved. Youll never walk alone at Anfield really pumps out the speakers and the fans sing and sway along. Not sure its "Better" but seems louder and clearer.

Gameplay. Well, bar a few minor changes its the same, but not. The little animations make the difference as far as feeling like a real game goes, but beneath it all, its just FIFA as we know it. The small extra touches as a player brings the ball down is nice and fluid, but watching them then collide with a defender and clumsily fall over is still as jarring as ever. Somethings never change. Teams feel more like their counter parts. I grinded out a 2-0 win against a resilient Leeds, but came up short in a 3-3 thriller against a very well organised Sp*rs. All the cutscenes seem the same, bar a new (I think) corner cut scene, a new (I think) moment where the fans surge forwards after a goal and the very welcome last minute goal celebrations, where the team, subs and all, surround the scorer as the Crowd goes wild and the cameraman struggles to keep up with the Passion. Not revolutionary, just evolutionary, which is to be expected at this stage of the generation.

Dualsense. Disappointing for me. Feels great as players tackle and jostle for the ball, but I don't really know how they work regarding stamina. I get that they are supposed to be harder to press as stamina goes down, but seems to be no Rhyme or reason to it sometimes. Sometimes is almost every player, then 10 seconds later, none of them are struggling. Then, just a few might have it again. Seems either it needs tweaking, or I'm not paying enough attention.

The quick cards are useful. Probably about 10 seconds from a cold start, instant if already in game. It really does show the SSD off. On a side note, RIP to the mini games before kick off. Is so blazing fast it is LITERALLY straight into the cinematics. Nice.

All in all, if you have FIFA, this is a nice, polished update. If you want it or THINK you want it because its "Next Gen" you may well be disappointed. It really does fill me with optimism that next year will be, if the engine is right, a real turing point away from staleness last gen. PES will be interesting too.

"Cheers Geoff"

I'm not sure what modes you play but as a career mode player I've encountered the animations for the bus and shit a few times already in my first 2-3 hour career mode session.

I'm impressed?

Didn't play much of the PS4 version but this is pretty nice visually and gameplay wise. The resistant triggers suck on this game though, so pointless.
