Seems they are same but ps5 has generally/more often higher dynamic resolutions in performance mode .

In quality mode ps5 is locked 4k where as xsx is still dynamic and can go down to 1870p in some scenes .

Quick summary:

Performance mode :
PS5 in dynamic 4K (2275x1280p ~ 3840x2160p)
PS5: 30.00fps on average (Max: 30fps / min: 30fps)

Quality mode :
PS5 in native 4K (3840x2160p)
PS5: 59.99fps on average (Max: 60fps / min: 59fps)

Even though I'm a big fan of owning physical copies of games, to get this kind of performance out of a $399 in 2020 is fucking crazy.

Price to hardware ratio wise, who ever is able to secure a digital PS5 is getting a bargain right now

I have digital ps5 and feel very proud about my purchase . I hope they start producing more digital because that $400 price point is unstoppable

It's gorgeous in action. Pictures and videos don't seem to capture it well for some reason. Also, the draw distance is pretty crazy.

That is one thing I noticed. The draw distance is pretty damn nice in this game

I wish channels would exclude the XSS from these comparisons. If you're buying that console, you don't care what the game looks like. Honestly, XSS just makes side-by-sides suffer more, and pads out some videos unnecessarily. If you bought an XSS, you've relegated yourself to 3rd place in visuals, and should be happy with whatever you get. I don't look forward to a full product cycle of having this bastard child thrown into every comparison video, for no good reason.

I would not be ok with this, I want to know how a game behave on XSS. I know that's the less capable machine, but we deserve to know how different games run on the system. More informed the better.

I personally don't care about resolutions differences that small. I personally didn't think you could see a difference, but a shit ton of ppl in here did.

There was a shit ton of talk about "Native 4K" or "Native 4k or death" or some shit like that. 12TF vs 9TF blah blah blah... There's very little difference between these two consoles. I still don't understand why (actually I do, but I don't think it's great) you guys use 3rd party game as the barometer for power, when the best looking game are exclusives. But, hey... Before the consoles launched Xbox fanboys had a field day with the "power" narrative. I guess the shoe is on the other foot right now, just deal with it. When you go that hard and it doesn't work out for you... just take the L. It's really not that bad, the game still all look good and largely very very similar. You play games, not numbers.

Just like the PS5 SSD is barely showing any advantage. I think we will have to wait couple of years to see what both these consoles can do. Out of the gate it seems PS5 to be the better, easier consoles for devs.

CP2077 is a big game, but at launch it will be running in BC mode. I wouldn't pay much attention to console comparisons just at launch. The real comparison will be when its next-gen version drops on both consoles.

Actually it's every single game with a next gen version that performs better on PS5, aside from DMC, funnily enough. The differences are very small anyhow but it's still funny.

Fortnite and No Man's Sky have the typical extra of shorter loading times and DualSense features on PS5, but I don't know if there are technical comparisions.

But to be fair, in many cases the results are pretty tied and in a few games Series X has a lead in some area (as I remember VRR still not implemented in PS5 and a few extra fps in some areas in 120fps mode, so during a few years almost nobody is going to appreaciate this), and in some cases as happened on DMCV or ACV most differences are due to rushed launch for development, so after a few patches both versions will be pretty similar.

But well, there are 0 games where we can see the supposed '18% (up to 40% according to some crazy folks) more GPU power' on XSX or anything similar. And this is before they start taking advantage of Geometry Engine and Oodle Texture, we may see a bigger PS5 lead in future games or at least to remove this small XSX lead in some area/case.

The shorter XSX load times are only in BC games. In BC games, PS5 shortens the PS4 Pro loading times in a bigger % than the XSX shortens the XB1X ones.

But since XB1X was way more powerful than PS4 Pro, the XB1X had way shorter loading times than PS4 Pro in several games. So even if PS5 did a better job cutting loading times, XSX loading times were shorter than the PS5 ones for these BC games.

(Native next gen version where available) ACV, DMCVSE, Dirt 5, Watchdogs Legion, Inmortal Fenyx Rising, COD CW, Borderland 3, Fortnite, NBA2K21 and No Man's Sky (all the multi next gen where I found loading time comparisions, I think Observer, MK11 and Haven are the missing ones) have shorter loading times in PS5. So I think it's fair to say all next gen multi games have shorter loading times on PS5.

Hope MS got some exclusives ready for 2021 coz when multiplatform games not taking full advantage of your hardware or having issues on your hardware then you need quality 1st party to fall back on.

Absolutely.

When I hooked my PS5 DE up, I didn't realize it only cost 100 more than my S. I had paid it up front, and it hit me. I felt I was dealing with some device that was twice as expensive. Thats not to say I dislike the S, I think its a great little machine, but the PS5 feels like a much, much more premium device. While in reality the DE is really only 100 bucks more.

Maybe its MS fault, that the S makes the PS5 look dirt cheap. But I also think PS5 is a notch above the X because of the DualSense, interface etc.

Ofcourse, games will or rather can be more expensive digital. But i'm mostly buying from sales anyway. And no disc is fine in this quick resume era.

I have not watched the vidéo, but I'm pretty sure this Is just due to the stutters on PS5 when running the performance mode, that will be corrected but for now it is horrible.

This article just proves that there are issues with speed when the system is pressed and the system really is 9 Teraflops as originally shared. Only die hard Sony fans would run in here stating this puts anything to bed.
Still a powerful machine in it's own right that will have some amazing games, just can't measure up to the series X. I will buy both as soon as budget permits.
