So, I'm reallllllly only posting this as I called it out in the previous Phil Spencer Xbox Anti Fanboyism thread and I happen to think, personally.... it's a rather quaint coincidence!
XCloud will eventually pull the rug out from under the entire console industry once this technology is lagless and hassle free - and by then who need's hardware fanboyism!
I know, a lot of nay sayers exist that say streaming games in any considerable fashion will never happen due to input lag ect, but they said back in the day - the
saaaame exact thing about On Demand streaming of Movies and TV through internet connections. But not only that . . . Terabyte internet speed's are becoming a reality, 100GIGbyte standard's are fairly common, I think a gig now is the standard for a lot of people... and download/upload speeds are only scheduled to get faster. Also, "Quantum-Internet" is beginning to be a thing.
And Machine Learning once applied to something like XCloud - is going to do wonders. I have considerable faith that Microsoft will within 5-10 years solve the lag/streaming quality/input issues.
And many have already vouched that these issues don't plague their own experiences.
Head of Xbox Phil Spencer says he thinks Xbox will release a smart TV app used to play games, with no console required, "in the next 12 months".
