WOW this game was great, maybe it could've been cheaper due to it's relatively short length but the game we got within that 8 hour story? Immense!
Every single aspect of the game is massively improved upon from Spider-Man 2018, the swinging somehow feels even more fluid with animation tweaks, a wider range of tricks to pull off and the newfound venom traversal abilities that greatly boost the enjoyment of swinging around the city to levels I didn't think were possible.
The fighting mechanics and stealth systems have been tweaked to feel much more satisfying to partake in and more immersive, be it the wider enemy variety, addition of new venom powers or the inclusion of ever so slightly more advanced stealth systems. It all improves the experience and delivers a great time to be had.
The pacing of the game is phenomenal, each mission improves on the previous one and the bosses were all enjoyable, I feel like the variety of things to do in the main quests were good, and the lack of boring sections like the MJ stealth missions in 2018's game really helped to keep you engaged at all times.
The narrative albeit great did suffer from not landing the emotional blows as much as 2018's game due to the lack of time to really flesh out relationships between characters and the individual characters themselves, but the overall story worked well enough and was a big improvement over the post launch Spider-Man DLC that really missed the mark for me personally.
And lastly, the city feels so alive compared to 2018, not that the previous game felt empty, not at all, it was a great cityscape to play around in, but the limits of the hardware show when comparing it to MM on the PS5. The inclusion of a great raytracing mode alongside a much needed 60fps option really add so much more to the experience.
I won't spoil anything, but the ending really makes me excited for the next entry in the series, and I have my whole trust in Insomniac to further improve on there already amazing systems and mechanics, to deliver yet another masterpiece.
GO PLAY MILES MORALES!
