Observer: System Redux is Simply Better on PS5 Than Xbox Series X

While performance in both versions of the game can be a little shaky at times, what surprised us even more is that even with ray tracing enabled, the PS5 version of Observer: System Redux still performs better than its Xbox Series X counterpart. There are some parts of the apartment block where the Xbox Series X seriously struggles, ruining the immersion a little. It’s perhaps at its worst when you enter the basement.

So, if you’re planning on picking up Observer: System Redux and are lucky enough to have both next-gen consoles available to you, go for the PS5 version. You’ll get a better experience all round. And if you only have Xbox Series X, perhaps wait to see if the game gets patched to at least smooth over the performance hiccups. And who knows, ray tracing might be added at a later date.

How long before dynamite appears and blames tools. Place your best.

Is this game worth picking up? I never played it.
At first it was PS5 was weaker cause it doesn't have the flops. Then it became PS5 is further inferior because it doesn't have the DirectX 12 feature set (why the hell would it).

And now we simply have objective reality.

Nope. Must be the tools. Yes! the tools!

With that said, I'm sure Series X and PS5 will get better with time like every generation before them. These consoles will trade blows in multi-platform and perhaps Series X will come out on top in most, but that's just a guess on my part. In the meantime, I understand Xbox fanboys are grumpy considering how eating crow upsets the stomach.

I don’t understand . How the ps5 version better ? Unless it was better optimized on the ps5, there is no way ps5 can beat a XSX in terms of power. Kinda strange . Maybe that’s why digital foundry said there are surprises ?
Xbox fans just need to think of that golden 12 number in their heads while playing worse versions of multiplats and it will all be ok

Lots of rumors and very little understanding of an aspect to the PS5 that doesn't translate into easy marketing for Sony. I'm talking about PS5's cache management. Possible single CCX core on PS5 CPU? Something also tells me pound-for-pound the PS5 is more efficient with its compute units, but there will be instances where Series X higher shader count matters (typically at higher resolutions). Things are getting interesting for sure.

These differences are no doubt marginal. But looking at the reaction to these comparison vids/articles on social media it's clear some have relied on the tech analysis to justify their purchase. And when the tech analysis doesn't shake out they way they assumed we get contention.

Which is why we should always rely on the only thing that really matters. The games.

Ps5 is better optimised and engineered i would say to be ready and be punching above its weight. Cerny did his job 😌
That has nothing to do with anything, the hardware is there, an abundance of it, and RT hardware is on board, and more of it, so if it's absent it's because of some kind developmental issue and entirely tied to software.

This isn't even a question at this point.

If this is true, and at this point you don't think there's some kind of developmental issue related to software; you're smoking crack.

A don’t even know how to enable RT on the XSX version 😂 (they go one about it being enabled and disabled, as far as I can tell you can’t disable it)

The game runs in none 4K mode by default, you need to enable it in the settings. But enabling it it does drop a fair bit, especially when particles are on screen (like the sparks) most of the time though it’s fine and there is no issue.

The none 4K mode (default) runs super smooth and if I’m honest I can’t tell the difference between the 4K mode and this mode 🤷‍♂️ Looks the same but feels super smooth.

Edit: ok RT seems to be only on the PS5 version 🙄 even thought it’s advertised as being on the XSX version 🤷‍♂️
