Whatever, so long as there is a clear distinction between the two, I'm good. As in, two distinct versions. Will be disappointed if the PS5 version just has a few graphic sliders toggled.

Just accept that sony have done a U turn on their messaging about generations for months. Why defend them so much in every thread lol
Defend 'them'?

I defend Microsoft and Sony when it's obvious that a thread has been made based on bollox. Sony have done this for thirty years, anyone who thought they wouldn't continue to support the PS4 is a daft twat.

The likes of 'CatLady' seem to spend their entire lives liking any positive Xbox posts, and anything negative about Playstation.

It's absolutely fucking pathetic.

On topic, I guess God of War will be a big test of this strategy. I already half expected GT7 to be cross gen tbh, because it looks like a fairly gentle evolution from GT Sport.

I'm flattered you pay so much attention to my post reactions or maybe it's pathetic. 🤷‍♀️

Insomniac confirmed just a few days ago that Ratchet will be PS5 exclusive. That's slated for first half of 2021.

Yes, but ratchet is not a expensive big AAA game like Horizon or GOW. You can see my old messages, and you will see, the day Horizon 2 was showed and announced for 2021, I said couldn’t be profitable being PS5 exclusive.

Sony want release many AAA games in one year from launch, I don’t know what is the reason, and they concluded they couldn’t release those games on 1 machine that will be 15-20 million at time

The question is what Sony will have prepared on 2022? I mean, between 2020 and 2021 they will release almost all titles their studios has been working for years. Even FF XVI is a teorically 2021 title.

But seriously no way Rifts Apart and Horizon 2 are actually coming to PS4 right?
So effectively Sony studios are going nextgen only.....hes probably talking about third parties still making crossgen titles.

PC 5 years early to next-gen. Oooof. You could legit keep a gaming PC for 10 years with no issue still surpassing the console standard lol. Welp, can't argue with saving money!

I would very much like to see a cross reference of people saying the initial "concern" over the PCIe 3.0 SSD in the Xbox was absurd with the people who are "concerned" about this statement.

But at this point I think Xbox only fans should be worried that Microsoft still believes in games, let alone generations. At least PS5 has Spider-Man MM, Demon's Souls, and Godfall on day 1. 🤷‍♂️

MS needs to get its act together in a big way. Playstation will have plenty of straight up exclusives over the coming year.

lol never. These always age well.
When was the last time a console went to an MSRP of $150? The last one I remember was the Xbox 360 Arcade version when it was discontinued in 2010. And that was just to clear room for the $199 Xbox 360 S 4 GB that replaced it. Never saw a price cut after that.

They don't drop the prices that low any more. They just quit making them and let the channel empty.

This doesn't even make sense to me looking at some of the RT options you get for $400 on console. I guess if you're spending more, then yeah you should get way more, but... you're not really unless you're at 3080 levels from what I've seen. And even then it's a let down in terms of price to performance.

When was the last time a MS or Sony console launched at $300 :)

Stuff like this is why the Xbox guys are laughing right now. All the PS guys were giving them shit about supporting Xbox 1 for 2 more years, only to be hit by a longer wait time than them.

I'd say everyone should stop shitting on each other, especially as comparisons will be coming out soon, but the meltdowns will be so glorious. Props to the mods, as they will be on some serious overtime.

Gamers are goldfish confirmed.

Every generation Sony does this. Every generation.

The PS1 was on sale for well over 2000 years. Even Jesus had one.
The PS2 was on sale well in to the life of the PS3.
PS3 games were coming out well in to the life of the PS4.
They're still bring out Vita games.

But nahh. Let's get out hot-off-the-press quips of "buh generations" in to boost the reaction score.
Not even close. PS4 had one first party AAA game that released after launch. GT7 just a month after launch. PS3 had one. GoW 2. Released four months after launch. Everything else, all the big first and third party exclusives were next gen only.

They do NOT do this every generation. They support the consoles for 10 years by keeping it on the market and letting third parties support it with yearly sports games. But we are talking about first party titles and they have never released AAA exclusives 2-3 years after launch. You cannot be more wrong.

When does support stop for a piece of console hardware? Its not as soon as possible, its when that hardware is no longer worth supporting.

When you are the market leader in terms of install-base, with 110million+ units in circulation it makes zero sense to drop support on a dime, because even assuming you can match or exceed uptake-rate on the successor hardware its going to take several years to get even half-way to the start-point!

That Sony was going to maintain PS4 support for a few years post PS5 launch was inevitable, as is the way that support is going to taper off gradually over time.

When MS came out with the "we don't believe in generations" line, it was transparently bogus. Because for that to be the case there would have to no difference between the line-ups of the current and (then) next-gen platforms. Inferring that there would be nothing you could play on Series X that you couldn't play on One was of course immediately proven untrue, and to add further proof of it being an entirely empty and baseless marketing slogan when they announced terminating production of the One X.

Of course MS would immediately pivot to say all they really meant was continuity of function thanks to backwards compatibility, but of course certain console warriors are hell-bent on keeping the original, erroneous, take as the same thing Ryan was saying when he called them on their BS by saying Sony do (obviously) believe in generations.

At no point did Sony say that they were dropping PS4 like yesterday's trash, because noone with half a brain would think that was ever on the cards! It was self-evident what was meant.

As long as there are next gen only titles like Ratchet and Clank, no problem.

Xbox One S launched at $299 and is still in production. Xbox One S Digital Edition launched at $249 and never had an official price cut before it was discontinued In July 2020.

They don't drop the prices that low any more. Sorry.

After seeing PS3/360->PS4/One, the rise of GaaS/Live titles, the push for backwards compatibility, and the X/Pro mid-gen upgrades who was expecting this big clean break between generations?

Anyone who thought every Xbox game would be cross gen for two years and Sony would immediately drop the PS4 was deluded.

Some games will be next gen, others will be cross gen. Both Sony and Microsoft are doing this on a case by case basis based on the requirements of each title. Nothing is being held back.

Also, three years of support doesn't mean the next three years of first party will be cross-gen. Another silly leap to make.

2021 is in 2 to 3 years from now?

What year is it. Jpg

I think it 100% depends on how fast people actually move over to the PS5. It's reasonable to wonder how fast people buy a $500 videogame console in a world with mass unemployment, a ruined economy, and the government handed over full lockdown powers to a despicable Gates-funded goblin. I think they will support the PS4 as long as it remains a popular and well played machine. I suspect they were prepared to support the PS3 for longer than they did, but the PS4 was so popular it just didn't make any sense to.

What big exclusives did they release on PS2 after the PS3 released?

Genuine question btw. I can't remember either way.

Seems like in all their giddyness the Xbox camp forgot Sony is still releasing next gen exclusives in 2020 and 2021 while Xbox isn't

Did the 6 - 7 exclusives coming in the PS5s first year suddenly dissapear?
Lol xbox is releasing next gen exclusives. Theres more exclusives in the pipe line than sony right now. You guys still dont get it do you? Xbox is console, pc and mobile now.

no its not. its just take devs to make new engine that wont work on ps4 anymore but on ps5 and thats it . but sony sure wants to keep suporting ps4 still. so thats normal way of doing things. but devs can do things other way still, not sony devs maybe others.
