Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - Review Thread

I remember hearing Yong's preview and he said it was really clunky.

Yong is a flimsy next-door gamer sometimes invited to previews because he has a following. He's sometimes useful for gathering and regurgitating early sources, but that's all the reference I'd use him for.

"On the Xbox Series X, Valhalla runs with a 4K resolution (it seems dynamic, as at times there was some notorious reduction in definition) and at 60 frames per second, something that has never been possible before on consoles. And what a difference it makes. Playing Assassin's Creed at 60 frames per second is fantastic, as it smooths cinematics and gameplay, but there's a price to pay."

The education system has failed you.

Was you mistaking 360 rotation with 120?

LMAO
Nice to see gaf doing a 360 as always. 4k30fps next gen is fine now? I'll wait for PC.

A 360 doesn't change your direction you muppet.

lmfao I'm an idiot.

Review from Gamereactor. Seems to be dynamic 4K on XSX, but we'll wait for more confirmation.

Dynamic 4k is the answer, for both consoles. Why waste resources with full native 4k for a handful of pixels most will not notice?

What Is interesting is that the game has pop in and screen tearing, something Dirt 5 also exhibited.

I've played every AC since the beginning and I just couldn't get into odyssey. I loved origins and black flag (my favourite) and only just found out those teams made this.

Guess I'll give it a whirl

1M+ plus subscribers. So flimsy.

OK, Ubisoft. Good reviews. I'll buy your bloody game.

The reviews are what I expected. I'll probably end up getting it for the ps4 since the odds of me getting a ps5 anytime soon seem slim. Dont really care about the story in assassin's creed anymore, just want a fun open world to screw around in.

The Series X page on metacritc have a higher score than the others.

Exactly. People who still have good eye sight can buy PCs, and then people who confuse a smeared vaseline screen with "basically 4K" can continue on consoles. Seems fine to me, everyone gets an option. (y)

Way higher, weird.

So I was listening to the Big Think Dimension this morning and KZXCellent played the game and did post edit with his thoughts about it. Already time stamped.

It is buugy as hell. Also 14 crashes.

Wow somewhat polarizing... so many high scores with some low ones i didn't expect. Reminds me of Gears 5 scores haha. One of the reviewers really gave it a 6.5/10 complaining it has more epic battles and less stealth compared to past entries in the series? Seriously?

Like I said in a previous thread:
I understand why the entertainment industry as a whole fictionalize the Medieval Aesthetic (from "Dark Ages" to the depiction of Norsemen), but a more grounded approach would still make great games (and TV series, movies, etc)

I like the For Honor looking big balls warrior stuff happening here, but I do agree and usually go for somewhat minimalist aesthetics for my own characters if possible.

Anyone know how cross saving is going to work? I have the ultimate edition on PC and I am wondering if I can cheap out and get the ps4 version for upgrade to ps5 and keep all my pc goodies.

Normally this is a no no, but I don’t see how my save progress can go across platforms without my digital upgrade content (armor, perks, progress on quests not available in the base game, etc).

If possible, it's how i'll build Eivor
He will likely stand out in cutscenes however, seeing as every Viking looks like a Icelandic Bodybuilder/tattoo artist lol

Seems like I need to get used to the lack of stealth :( which I was a fan of. Still excited to play it Tomorrow.
No you don't.
You can fuck up a lot of enemy camps by yourself, calling your bros is optional, you can probably play solo stealth for a large part of the game.

I already didn't like the floaty ice skating weightless combat in Odyssey and to here it's worse hear makes this a deep sale for me.

From what I've seen, that unicorn skin has gained it a boost by the hypocrite critics.

Ya I mean each to their own. I was seeing others who reviewed it and got game save corruptions, crashes, low fps, screen tearing, and didn't like the story changes and still rated it a 9 out of 10. So I mean...at some point I guess all is what it is. I always think checking out a couple reviews is best anyway
Appreciate the review, my dude. Amazed at all the bugs, glitches and general jank. Ubisoft gonna Ubisoft, I guess.
