Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales - Digital Foundry Tech Review - Welcome To The Next Generation

I have no doubt you're absolutely right. Really not a big deal, but if it were somehow available, I would love the option.
I think you are absolutely right. It should be an option. Why not let people enjoy it the way they want to? It's something that's bugged me about all consoles. It's become less of an issue going forward with a lot of games offering the choice between different resolutions and framerates with the PS4/XbX, but it's definitely not where it should be. I'd say maybe it'd be harder on multiplats to offer up, but on exclusives, where there are only 2 sku's, it shouldn't be so difficult to offer options.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
I think Insomniac did good with Spider-Man, Resistance, Ratchet etc. put them in good position to give gamers open world Spider-Man.

Easiest decision I ever made. Screw 60fps. Lol

Just look at how far off into the distance they are tracing rays. This is fucking incredible.
Surely in motion you notice the raytracing a lot less in a fast-paced game like this? Appreciate there are some stealth sections, but 60fps fluidity in first and third-person action games for me.

All aboard the fidelity mode hype train! This game looks fucking ace. This is just a launch title. It's only up from here for Sony 1st parties. Good show from Insomniac. R&C is going to look even better, and that too will really just be a gen1 PS5 game. I'm quite excited for what the future holds.

This honestly gives me a bit of vertigo.

To be honest, I really can't think of too many bad Insomniac games. Maybe Resistance 3, but even then, that was ok still. Well....there is FUSE...But I never played it. They really fucking knocked it out development wise in the Xbone/PS4 generation. Sunset Overdrive was insanely fun(probably my favorite game from them AFTER Spiderman), Spiderman is incredible, not to mention some of their VR stuff looked great too, though I have a Vive and never got to play them(didn't feel like dicking around with the ReVive mods). They just know their audience and how to make a really well crafted game. I really surprised it took Sony so long to scoop them up considering most of their output has been on Sony's system anyways.

I'm just glad to see them still here and putting out such great stuff so consistently after SOOOOOO long. They've been around forever.

edit: Forgot Infamous was Sucker Punch, I don't know why but I always make that mistake. Not the first time I've done it too.

Don't blame you, I've done the same few times. The makers of Infamous should have been given Spider-Man if you were betting before Insomniac were given the franchise.

The Ray Tracing looks great, but I would take the 60fps. But since there is the option everyone wins and I hope this trend continues all generation.

This shot alone would sell people on next gen. The first series of shots where I'm legit like," This shit can't be done on current consoles". You can literally see every detail streetside in this shot. The business and draw distance, all fully reflected via ray tracing in full 4K. My brain!!!! I'm also critical of ray tracing, but Spiderman looks like it would be the game to really sell me on it.

Looks great
Lol, I know it's been a shitty year for a lot of people, but it's seriously been the best year of my life. Became a first-time uncle, became a first-time father, my wife and I are not in debt, own our car, own our house, Covid let me stay home and take care of my baby daughter while still getting a decent paycheck, wife get's to work from home, and my old job called me back to come start working again.. Great games and new music, it's been a stellar year for me, just hope I can top it off with a 3080.

I thought the same when I saw that shot. I keep having this irrational thought that he's not gonna stick to the walls and start sliding down and falling. Very weird.

I'm quite surprised (pleasantly) regarding the performance of of this game with RT, 4K and steady 30fps. It looks really great too.
I really enjoyed the original on my PS4 pro, which I think I got it around 19.99 or so - so I think I will get this and give it a try when it's on sale on similar price, or offered digitally as a stand-alone version.

I just don't want to pay 69.99... unless the game play offers similar volume of gameplay of PS4 Original and then some.
Chances are the price will drop pretty quickly as it being a launch title - so I may look into that later on.

edit: found out that it's 49.99.... tempting... but still also hearing 8-10 hours game, so will wait till it's 29.99 or less...

I mean, pretty much the entire city is replicated using RT at a solid 30fps at 4k. That's some update.

I'm going to buy this just for the graphics alone. Sad but true.

Without doubt the best visuals with RT I've seen. Yeh there are other titles with more comprehensive RT implementations, but they dont look as good as this from a general graphics perspective.

Having got a 2070 super I have been pretty disappointed with ray tracing and have mostly turned it off on my pc for better performance. I was all set to play the 60fps mode but this is the best use of ray tracing I've seen. Definitely be playing ray tracing mode, it looks gorgeous.

Gutted I've gotta wait till the 19th in the UK. I'm so excited. Can't wait.

It's amazing how much better this looks just because of essentially higher quality versions of the assets and better draw distance.

Just those alone is a huge leap. The image quality is sensational.

I have to admit I'm pretty torn between the RT and 60fps, it's a shame we have to choose.

Surely we could have had both if they took the resolution down to PS4 Pro levels?

Yep, I'd love to have a 1080P 60FPS/RayTracing option.
