They should really add a perf mode to all shooters. I don't think that anyone is concerned about more effects and pixels on a game like fortnite, just the best performance.

Edit: Haven't played this shit in forever and was looking forward to coming back to XSX to see how it ran. No point in checking it out now, it's the same frame rate as x1x.

I don't get the series S concern?

Isn't it doing exactly what it's meant to? Most benefits of big bro, but at a res more designed for 1080p displays.

It's 250 quid compared to 450 quid for a reason. If you're not happy with its compromises, buy the big machines?
Except for a hundred more you can get the digital version of the PS5 and do 4K.

Id like to see the XS pushed a little bit more and see what it can actually do, though. Time will tell.

A quarter the power for a quarter the resolution.

But for some reason people dont think this makes sense.....if it was doing 1440p60 or higher the XSX version would need to be doing higher than 4K right?

is it that kind of improvement?

Should've been 1080p/120fps. I doubt most fortnite players (kids) care about 4k. And 1080p/60 on Series S is pathetic when it's marketed as a 1440p console. Already it's showing it's underpowered.
Seriously who though would be a 1440p machine? Have 3x less power than X

The vast majority of people don't have access to 120hz displays. With a few exceptions only the newest 2020 TVs have 120hz support, and most people playing on console are playing on TVs not monitors where >60hz is more common.

To be fair not even 2% of gamers have 120 fps TV.

For those of us that do though the option would've been nice.

Also the new consoles are going to encourage upgrades. Over time a lot more people will have 120hz screens. If the option becomes more common in games it'll push those numbers up even faster.

It's more about the fact that when the machine was revealed it was being touted as a 1440p machine and some people (incorrectly) assumed it would mean the same quality settings as the X but just at a lower resolution.

that's not an excuse. for those with a 120hz VRR tv all they need to do is not cap the framerate or add a toggle for vsync/framerate.

at these settings you wouldn't reach anywhere near 120fps.
they would need a dedicated option for that that either runs lower resolution or with way lower settings

They should definitely add a 120hz performance mode, as should all competitive shooters. I'm at least hoping for a rock solid 60 fps. The current console versions claim 60 fps, but they dip constantly.

MS was marketing it as 1440p console, so...

It does do 1440p when optimised. Gears Tactics is confirmed 1440p/60fps, so is The Falconeer, both are launch titles.
It's clear this game isn't being fully optimised for Series S.

But the people who buy a Series S for Fortnite probably don't care either way.

I remember some people on here said that the gap between XSS and PS5 wasn't that big.

Receipts?
