I need an opinion of someone who thinks the Xbox One controller is the best gamepad ever to see what they think about the DualSense in terms of comfort.

That would be me.

I game on my PC with an xbox one controller because it is the most comfortable controller.

The dualsense feels GREAT it feels bigger and slightly weightier. Way more comfy than the ds4. Does it beat the xbox one controller? I'm not sure yet but at the very least it's on equal footing.

in that last thread that you asked this I linked 3 threads and I’m pretty sure I saw comparisons in 1 of them if you want to look. It’s closed now but the links are still there

Sounds cool based on early impressions and looks ok but everyone knows they should have offered a black version as well.

You're right... the prototype in the OP looks kinda ugly though. We need different colored action buttons like on the DS4, and a PS Logo with the classic colors. Lucky for us we can get all of that from third parties. We will have to wait for a while because some of the action buttons on the DualSense are slanted.

Astro bot is probably utilizing it more than most games would. I think this definitely creates immersion so anyone using it for first time will definitely like it.

PS5 will be the best place to play third party games based on the controller alone

Getting ahead of yourself there. That's very dependent on devs putting in extra work for one platform.*

What's certain is that its going to make Sony first-party titles even better; that bit more immersive than on other platforms.

*That said, I can't imagine the amount of dev time necessary will be a lot

Name me a developer who has a made a third party game for PS5 and XSX who hasn't made use of Dualsense?

[…] Sony seems to have found some ultra-precise IMU because, even without any external reference point, the DualSense controller seems almost devoid of drift. That’s counter to my experience with PSVR devices in the past. Even with external tracking from the PS4 camera, I’ve noticed plenty of drift from the headset, PS Move, and PS Aim in various games.

While playing in ‘Cooling Springs’ in Astro’s Playroom the game allowed me to ‘inspect’ an object I found by rotating my controller in space, which would then rotate the object on screen. This gave me a good chance to test out the DualSense motion tracking.

No matter how violently I tried to shake and twist the controller, the on-screen object never lost its ‘forward’ direction—even without an external camera aiding in the tracking. I even sat the controller down in a random orientation for 30 minutes, and then compared the position of the object before and after, and found hardly any change. This shows that the controller’s IMU has very little internal drift and noise.

The really impressive thing we’re seeing here is the controller seems to remember its forward direction with absolutely no problem, even without an external point of reference. With PS4’s DualShock controller (as well as PSVR, PS Aim, and PS Move), the PS4 camera provides the external frame of reference to ensure the devices can maintain an absolute forward direction.

From an IMU alone, knowing a device’s downward direction is pretty trivial because gravity offers a strong directional force which can be detected reliably by an accelerometer. While a gyroscope can reliably tell you when an object is rotating around its axis, it’s still doesn’t have any explicit understanding of ‘forward’, which means its susceptibility to drift is equal to its margin of error.

I'm so glad Sony chose to develop their controller further. The dualshock 4 is the best controller I've ever used, but rumble is essentially binary. From what DF are staying, the haptic feedback on Dualsense can give you information on the type of environment you're moving through. I can see this being amazing on FPSs, third-person action games and racing games in particular. John suggested the surface area of the feedback differs aswell, just sounds way more precise.

Also on the adaptive triggers, I know some people were worried about breaking them, but you'll adapt to the resistance very quickly. Imagine drawing an arrow in Days Gone or Horizon with resistance coming from the right trigger - much better than looking at a bar onscreen or relying on guesswork to figure out the amount of tension force.

Kagey K Kagey K I'm not sure if you saw this but is s great way to show how the triggers work.

Seems like Best Buy has controllers available for pick up on November 5th... I think I will just cancel the Amazon order.

Nope. VCAs are easy to program for, because they are incredibly precise digital pieces of equipment, rather than the old analogue rumble system. Integrating features for games should be pretty damn easy. Third party won't want to miss out on a more immersive experience, especially if Ps5 sells as well as it's expected to. It really is a game changer.

Funny really. Everyone's been paying so much attention to the minimal differences between the two consoles, when it's probably going to be the DualSense that is the biggest divide.

Nice.
Looking forward to it so much. I love the DualShock 4, it's great and in my opinion far superior to the only other controller I use regularly, which is the Switch Pro controller.
And then they go ahead and improve it in literally every single aspect? Baffling.
The mad lads.

I don't think my OP can afford one more gif but I'll try and see if I can get a small file size. Good show of the gyro's.

Dualsense seems really awesome controller, but I really hope that it gets a back button attachment or Sony makes an "Elite-controller".
I dont want to play FPS-games without paddles because I've grown into them.
Begs the question if third party controllers will feature all of the DS features.

Yeah it would be nice if Sony officially came up with something.

It's sort of thick in center mass due to everything it has packed in. Not sure how good a third party attachment would do here given that. We'll see.

There’s a big market for those paddles and back buttons. I’m worried that this DualSense is too complex and companies will completely bomb making third party stuff.

i think battle beaver will do a good job though, since they use simple buttons rather than paddles

Well I don't think that's activated yet according to this video where clicking is loud

It's probably done on the PS5 side being that it has audio hardware

Edit: never mind he says that it removes background noise hooked to the PC

Haha good one no way that's happening.
Third party companies are waaaaay to incompetent.
If you think Madcatz or whatever the fuck those companies are called will give you adaptive triggers and haptic feedback boy you'll be waiting.

I don't like third party controllers. Logitech's wireless controller for PS2 is the only one I've ever owned, which was awesome btw.

I was thinking about buying an 3rd party elite controller for PS4 but each of them were missing some features others had.
Also I've understood that the build quality is not that great.

I’ll copy my post from the other thread:

I think we’ll see a Pro controller soon from Sony. The more I look at theDualsense connection it is too shallow to properly hold a back button attachment the way DS4 was with its proprietary second input next to the 3.5 jack. Im starting to think back button was the test to gauge interest in a pro controller. Shame too because I love the back button attachment but I would love to be able to swap out sticks when they wear out.

This DualSense has got me pretty excited. I'm thinking I might just save the money I was going to buy the Xbox with and put it towards a new PC build instead to complement the PS5.

I hope you’re right. We need a super premium officially licensed pro controller that allows us to swap sticks, paddles, etc just like the offical Xbox pro controller. Back button attachment was hot for many months. It went for double or triple the price because it was impossible to find.
